AirAsia is celebrating the decline in global oil prices by giving away 500,000 free seats as well as scrapping the unpopular 'fuel surcharge'.

The sale starts on Wednesday Midnight (0300 AEDT Thursday) for flights in the third quarter of 2009.

AirAsia also opens new route, Perth - Kuala Lumpur and Melbourne - Kuala Lumpur later this month.

Please note that standard airport tax, administration and insurance applies.

  • the bad thing is that the travelling period is not until aug next year

  • Perth only~

    • With the resource boom over, Perth residents will need cheap airtickets to get out of there! Pity the flights are not until Q3 2009!

  • If it's Perth only can you please edit the title to note that.

    • I think it's nationwide - in fact, it may possibly worldwide sale :)

  • I was just about to post this one actually - good offer :)

  • There may be a clerical error for the advertisement for Perth route. The current FREE fare is only available for AirAsia (the regional Asian destinations), and does not include AirAsia X flight (flight to/from Melbourne, Perth, Gold Coast, and Hangzhou). Please refer to this: http://www.airasia.com/site/my/en/page.jsp?reference=1mfs

Having said that, if you happen to be flying to KL/Singapore/Bangkok/Jakarta/Bali during the travel period, here is a good chance for you to hop on and travel to other places INSANELY cheap.

If you found the booking page is slow, try http://mobile.airasia.com

    • Got up at the insane time of 5am to give this a go. I believe it is indeed a clerical error - I can't seem to find free fares for AU destinations, however it is very easy to find free fares for the destinations listed via the link above.

So to clarify, no fuel surcharge on all flights, but only free fares for KL <> the destinations listed here: http://www.airasia.com/site/my/en/page.jsp?reference=1mfs

Apologies to everyone who was getting excited by the Channel 10 News! :)

  • would of been a great deal, wished it was available in Sydney that would be really good…

  • Purchased last 2 weeks and continue again this one to another country. Great deal.
Now——> waiting to go back for another deal since I travel back Nov 2009 and not available yet.
