Are the bonus values for all denominations of ultimate gift cards carried by aldis?
Never buying ultimate gc again on principle.
can you please explain why ?
It’s much easier to save money if you don’t have principles
Depends how much time you’ve got to waste and on how much patience you have with these ones. Good for in store. A headache to use online because you can usually only enter one credit card payment in the checkouts.
The processing of online cards is an absolute pain in the backside. Limited swap functionality for 'actual giftcard' with retailer. Physical cards are easier but I'm just avoiding them altogether after the nightmare experience with low denomination online cards to purchase a big ticket item at JB.
Always buy ultimate gc again on principle. The principle of researching and reading before you take advantage of a deal. You know their website clearly states what retailers can be used either instore, online, or exchanged for store egift card. Obviously if it is 'online' with no egift option then the transaction value has to be below the remaining value. It isn't their fault that you didn't check beforehand.
too bad they only have $30 and $50 otherwise would be buying up on variable loads
I believe there is a woolies will be having 10% off ultimates soon
Wonder if WookieMonster can clarify when Woolies might be having 10% off Ultimate GCs. He is usually pretty accurate.
Wookie is knowledgeable but @VantageXL is the pro of gift card timeline. There is a website of the history but Ozbargain unpublished it
Woolworths 10% off Ultimate Her, Ultimate Him, Ultimate Kids, Ultimate Teens, Ultimate Active, Ultimate Home, Ultimate Eats, Ultimate Students, Ultimate Baby & Mum, Ultimate Style, Ultimate Thanks and Ultimate Beauty & Spa gift cards 15/6/2022
My crystal ball is currently broken.
Can we estimate the cycle for discounted gcs from ww? I've seen Wookie guesstimate it accurately once only
Wookie is knowledgeable but @VantageXL is the pro of gift card timeline.
Ultimate active & Ultimate everyone variable load are the best thing! Can't wait for the promo to come through again.
@Pat Rick: From memory Coles/WW GC promos would exclude variable loads though?
@Craze: That's what I thought, until they had ultimate everyone 50-500$ for discount equivalent in ER points, works out better than actual 10% discount for me.
@Pat Rick: Thanks will have to look out for the next WW deal then!
@Craze: Woolworths was running bonus points deals on variable load Ultimate gift cards for most of last year (if I remember correctly), and they even ran 10% off deals on Ultimate Everyone gift cards and then other Ultimate gift cards late last year (and both deals included the variable load denomination). I bought so many variable load Ultimate Everyone gift cards myself…
@WookieMonster: Wow don't know how I missed those deals! I generally favour straight discount over points/bonus value so would've picked these up instead of Big W offer in March.
@Craze: It was probably because:
The Ultimate Everyone gift card deal coincided with the 15% off selected TCN gift card deal at Coles.
The other Ultimate gift card deal coincided with the 15% off Celebration gift card deal at Coles.
OzBargain was flush with deals (including various gift card deals) during this period, including the 15% off (almost all) Ultimate gift card deal at Coles happening around the same time, so those two Woolworths deals probably got lost in the sea of deals at the time, especially with the lower number of upvotes compared to the gift card deals as Coles.
@WookieMonster: Do you bookmark app gift card details WM? Always amazed how you're tracing old deals and comments!
@Craze: No, not for those three gift card deals. I remembered them happening around late last year and used the OzBargain search function to pull them out.
For old comments, I use the bookmark feature on OzBargain. I have over 100 comments bookmarked…
@Craze: Coles excludes coz their tight
WW usually does not exclude unless it says so… their variable load are so good
That's 1% better value
Wish Ozito would start releasing bigger batteries already, they've started selling 36v table saws and they're still relying on their 5.2ah battery from 6 years ago. Are these ALDI ones compatible with SCA 18v range? I can never remember
No they are not compatible
Cheers Op
sorry i cant find the Ferrex batteries, can someone help me out with link?
Look at the on line catalogue May 27
Who has the table of all the retailers for these cards…
You can find it anytime here.
I ran an extract late last night, so it should be up to date… unless Blackhawk Network did an update earlier today.
Thanks legend @WookieMonster
Anyone know if Kogan accepts multiple gift cards at checkout?
Thinking could be good to stack 2x gift cards to get the $120 plan down to $110 for 365 days 120GB (last 365 plan about to run out)
Of course not, these cards don’t seem to work with Kogan anymore. Not for the last couple of weeks at least.
It accepts Home/Everyone for non-giftcard purchase. Kogan has setting in place to decline giftcard purchase by Ultimate, Amex, CBA cards in my experience.
Bought $100 Ultimate Home x5 today. Tried to pay Kogan for something (<$500). Unable to process split payment. Ultimate Gift Card's website still lists Kogan as part of the participants, however, the package on the physical card no longer has Kogan.
The packaging is probably outdated (which probably does not matter).
Kogan was only added to the Ultimate gift card scheme in December 2022. I would only expect Ultimate gift cards produced from December 2022 onwards to show the Kogan logo on the packaging. When were your Ultimate gift cards produced?
It sounds like an issue with Kogan processing Ultimate gift cards or Blackhawk Network stuffed something up on their end. Have you reached out to Kogan and asked them why you cannot redeem an Ultimate gift card on their website? If not, that would be a good starting point. I will say you are not the only person facing redemption issues on Kogan recently, so if it is not a simple problem (e.g. you are using the wrong expiry date, as physical Ultimate gift cards use 12/29 as the expiry date for purchases), it is something that would require a deeper with Kogan and/or Blackhawk Network.
Thanks for the reply. Package on the card shows 06/22. So probably old package. I saw Aldi online and Ultimate gift card online all have kogan listed. So decided to give them a go.
I used 12/29 for expiry date previous as suggested by Ultimate Gift Card. At the checkout, tried Credit Card, kogan states "The card has insufficient funds to complete the purchase. Please use an alternative payment method. " Tried Google Pay after adding card to it. Failed. Tried to buy $100-110 kogan gift card online. Failed. Tried eVoucher/gift card redeem, needs 10 digit code. Failed.
Can't seem to find other options for payment. At the checkout, tried Credit Card, kogan states "The card has insufficient funds to complete the purchase. Please use an alternative payment method. "
When you are making a purchase, does the Ultimate gift card you are using have sufficient balance to cover the order amount? For example, if your order amount on Kogan is $230, does your Ultimate gift card have an available balance of at least $230?
Tried Google Pay after adding card to it. Failed.
Weird. Could it be linked to the above problem?
Tried to buy $100-110 kogan gift card online. Failed.
I'm not entirely surprised by that. From what others have said before, Kogan is very picky as to which cards you can use to purchase a Kogan gift card on the Kogan website. For example, trying to use an AMEX to purchase a Kogan gift card will see Kogan reject it.
Tried eVoucher/gift card redeem, needs 10 digit code. Failed.
The only gift card that can redeemed in this way is a Kogan gift card. You have an Ultimate gift card, which is really just a Visa card, and Visa cards cannot be redeemed in this way.
@WookieMonster: The maximum I have is $110 per card or $110*5 total value. I need to pay about $499 for my purchase. Kogan tried deducting $499 directly (from $110 card) which resulted in the transaction being declined. No option for adding more cards to pay. As others have mentioned, it's hard to do online payments with more than one card. So I think the answer is, I can't stack cards to pay. I can pay <$110 each time. Google Pay is probably the same issue. I will have to buy something else in-store to use the cards.
Again, thanks for taking the time to reply.@elux: Sorry, I just realised your original comment said you tried to do split payments on the Kogan website! I should have picked up on that… Anyway, you have run into an annoying limitation of Ultimate gift cards, but that is what happens when Blackhawk Network choose to operate a multi-retailer gift card scheme on the Visa network and not all participating retailers choose (or are able) to participate in Blackhawk Network’s gift card exchange facility.
One last question, have you tried to use the Ultimate gift card via Google Pay to pay for a $100 (or $50 + 3x $20) Kogan gift card on the Kogan website?
The reason I ask is that when you store an Ultimate gift card on a mobile wallet (including Google Pay), it uses a different BIN to the gift card number printed on your physical Ultimate gift card, plus you authenticate the purchase on Google Pay before Kogan attempts payment, so 3-D Secure checks are generally not required. This all means that Kogan would only see you are using a generic Visa Prepaid card on Google Pay and may decide to let the purchase go through, because they may not realise that generic Visa Prepaid card on Google Pay is actually an Ultimate gift card.
I will warn you that purchasing four different Kogan gift cards using four different Visa cards in quick succession (e.g. on the same day) could trigger Kogan’s security controls, because that behaviour would look similar to someone stealing four different Visa cards and then trying to use their available balances to purchase Kogan gift cards as quickly as possible before the cardholders for each Visa card report their cards as stolen. Something to be mindful of.
I think after all this hassle, redeeming your Ultimate gift cards for an instore purchase isn’t such a bad idea. Hopefully the participating retailer you go to can (and will let you) do split payments across multiple Visa cards…
@WookieMonster: Tried after reading your comments.
Kogan website only allows credit card payment for gift card. For other purchases it allows Google pay, PayPal, zip pay, afterpay, klarna, and existing kogan account credit. Also, Kogan support team replied my enquiry and said I was flagged after multiple failed payments previously. Not sure if that matters.
I wonder if I can try Google Pay (with registered Ultimate Home) to buy apple gift card in officework in store. OW Staff online said gift card buying gift card is not allowed. Nothing I want has good price in OW or JB or TGG at the moment. Friend wants to buy via Apple directly. 😔
@elux: Damn it. Kogan are a sneaky bunch…
I wonder if I can try Google Pay (with registered Ultimate Home) to buy apple gift card in officework in store. OW Staff online said gift card buying gift card is not allowed. Nothing I want has good price in OW or JB or TGG at the moment. Friend wants to buy via Apple directly.
It is against Officeworks' store policy to use any gift cards to purchase gift cards.
In terms of instore purchases, it may work. It worked for me a couple of weeks ago, but:
There is always a chance that Officeworks have updated their payment processing to automatically block the redemption of Ultimate gift cards (which is what Coles did last month to stop people using gift cards issued by Coles Group to pay for any gift cards sold at Coles… and I mention this, because Coles and Officeworks use very similar payment processing).
You may have a staff member demand to see the type of card you are wanting to use to pay for the gift card before they let you tap your phone against the EFTPOS terminal (and this is even if you only say you want to pay by card).
Asking to do split payments when purchasing a gift card is usually a sign to Officeworks staff members that you are either trying to do something dodgy (e.g. use multiple stolen cards in one go) or you are trying to use an Ultimate gift card as a payment method.
If you are have a JB Hi-Fi store near you, you are better off purchasing Apple gift cards there, because JB Hi-Fi staff are generally much more relaxed about customers using Ultimate / TCN gift cards to pay for third-party gift cards (including Apple).
@WookieMonster: Thank you for your suggestion. Didn't know JB has apple card until you mentioned it. Went to JB Hi-Fi and used all cards to buy apple gift cards. Staff has no issue splitting the payments.
@elux: Your cards can be only used for any items under $110 on Kogan, pay it like a VISA card.
Kogan seems to process giftcard purchase in a different payment gateway. No way to buy it for stacking later. I have tried it at different times and explained it above.
JB HF processes it for online giftcard purchase, but only 1 to 2 cards per day before it rejects. I recommend 1 order per day as some canceled orders in the account may affect orders later.
@Neoika: Yeah. Right.
I didn't research it beforehand. Only found it out after tedious trying. 😔
Are these worth buying to buy an item less than $200 at JB Hi FI?
Every saving counts!
Deduct the savings of $20 by the travel and time costs that are incurred to buy the gift cards, and that's your answer.
If you already shop at Aldi regularly, probably worth it. That being said, I find 20x Rewards points much more worth it, since it allows you to accumulate Qantas points quickly.
Can we use the Him/Teen card to buy playstation/nintendo gift cards via JBhifi/EBgames?
Probably.
There is nothing in the JB Hi-Fi or EB Games instore POS systems that will stop you from using an Ultimate gift card to pay for any gift cards sold at either store. However, there is a chance that you will run into a staff member at JB Hi-Fi who believes that you cannot use any gift cards to purchase gift cards under any circumstances. (I don’t think this is really an issue at EB Games, because I have never heard of an EB Games staff member stop anyone from doing this.)
Here are some tips:
If you want to make an instore payment, consider storing the Ultimate gift card on a supported mobile wallet first, as swiping a physical card is a fairly strong indication of you wanting to use a gift card as a payment method. You don’t have to do this, so I will leave it up to you ask to whether you want to go the extra step. When I used an Ultimate gift card to pay for an Apple gift card at JB Hi-Fi a few weeks ago, I swiped the physical gift card on the EFTPOS terminal and the staff member did not care at all.
If you are instore, tell the staff member that you want to pay by card (or Visa), because the Ultimate gift cards in this deal operate on the Visa network, so JB Hi-Fi and EB Games handle their redemption just like any other Visa card. Do not say you want to pay by gift card, because most staff will think you want to pay using a JB Hi-Fi gift card or EB Games gift card (and Ultimate gift cards are neither), and you will end up going down a rabbit hole, or have a staff member tell you no and then get more suspicious of you.
If you want to do this online, you can purchase PlayStation gift cards on the JB Hi-Fi online store, but you cannot purchase Nintendo eShop cards on the JB Hi-Fi online store. If you want to purchase the PlayStation gift cards online, you will need to keep in mind that you can only redeem one Ultimate gift card in one JB Hi-Fi online transaction, because - unlike JB Hi-Fi’s instore POS system - JB Hi-Fi’s online store cannot handle split payments between multiple Visa cards (i.e. multiple Ultimate gift cards) in one transaction.
I think you mentioned somewhere that Playstion gift cards can not be used to buy PlayStation. It's only for games and subscriptions. Right?
can I use ultimate gift cards in petrol stations ?
Thanks for confirming 👍
Can we buy eBay gift cards from the JBHIFI store ?
No. JB Hi-Fi does not sell eBay gift cards.
I bought 10x $50 teens gift card and didn’t recieve extra 10%. Is there any way i can get it fixed/ returned/ refunded. I tried going back to store but they won’t do anything about it. I am stuck with $500 worth of them
Check if it is TCN Teen that is not participating in it, or old label Ultimate Teen, in which case you can contact card issuer to sort it out.
This deal is for 10% bonus value loaded onto the cards, not 10% off.
Hey, i have purchased ultimate teens gift card. Yes, the $50 should have had $55 on it. But upon checking, its just $50. I called ultimate team. They said they can’t help and have had several calls regarding the same.
Did you go back to Aldi? Any luck getting the extra 10%
@mrpickle: Nope. Went back but the manager there was being very passive aggressive saying he can’t do anything about it and i should contact ultimate gift card team. No luck there too. Contacted aldi online support. Hoping they fix it.
I bought a The Ultimate gift for Home card today at Aldi and also didn't get the 10% bonus :(
It seems the promotion may be not on today, i.e. ended yesterday by wrong setup.
Probably best to stay away from deals which add value to the card, it might be a scam and you have got to wonder why it isn't just a discount, which would be easier for everyone. The best deals are just a straight discount, as there is no risk. I was thinking about using this deal but I am glad I didn't after reading some posts here.
Otherwise the rewards points deals can be OK because they can be rectified by Woolworths if there is an error on their end (I am not sure about Flybuys but I haven't had a problem if a buy the right card and follow the terms). If you do use a rewards points deal it is best to stick to one transaction per day, per card, even if the deal says otherwise or doesn't mention it.
I bought three gift cards to use it on the day at the Iconic but swapping to the Iconic e-gfit card was disabled and the 10% values were not loaded. Feel like been double scammed, SMH… Never again.
I wonder if something odd is going on with The Iconic and some third-party gift card issuers.
I noticed that The Iconic was removed from Cashrewards' Choice gift card over the weekend without warning, and the Choice gift card has nothing to do with Blackhawk Network.
I can still see The Iconic on Prezzee, so whatever is going on, it is not affecting all third-party gift card issuers.
If you bought these and the balance wasn’t showing up correctly online, check again today.
I bought some on Sunday 28/05 and the balance was incorrect at the time. I just checked and the extra 10% has now been added.
@Piyush412 @mrpickle @sam cho can you confirm whether you see 10% bonus applied to your gift cards now?
Yep. Just checked and there is a balance adjustment with the extra 10% now which was added today.
yep, 10% bonus are loaded now. Thanks
Yes. Got it! Thanks :)
More ultimate headaches ahead :) To be fair the physical cards are much easier to deal with.
