Bought this last time it was available, returned it a week later. Absolute pile of garbage, couldn't handle 7 days of growth without the motor shutting off, and the batteries didn't get through my front lawn. Absolutely useless.

I bought the bigger version Ozito 36v 380mm mower kit, which is probably the bare minimum for any standard block.
But this deal may suit a smaller/half block or people who mow lawns regularly…

      • This is 2x20v though so it meets and exceeds your standards. Also includes 2x4.0ah batteries that are sold for 50 each + charger. I bought the last year model and lucked out with aldis shitty QA and it has been a dream. Might purchase this for extra batteries and charger and having a spare mower for ~$130. Plus, dealing with Aldi warranty is the easiest in the market, for better or for worse.

Edit: I should mention I use 2x 8.0ah so I am not using the product contents exclusively when forming my opinion. The 4.0ahs would be for other devices that I have.

        • I have this lawn mower since 2021. No problems with it. I have a good sized buffalo lawn. I can normally cut the lawn on 1 set of battery, except when the lawn is very long. I use 2 sets of batteries. Switching batteries and avoid going below 30%. I have heard draining the battery too low can damage it.

          Does the 8ah battery fit?

          • @zealmax: It does on my 2024 model, but a below comment indicates an older model may not have the clearance. As it comes with 5 year warranty, just return it and get a new one. I was a store manager at aldi, they literally do not care unless things have changed in the past few years.

            • @LINK91: I don't think mine has enough clearance. Warranty claims on items that aren't broken doesn't sound right to me. I don't think you should be telling anyone to do such a thing.

    • As a daily electric garden power tools user. I agree with you, if going electric get good quality one. Pay more for one that will last the test of time.

    • How easy was the return? Did you just say - not enough power?

It's a good mower but if I did it over again I'd get the ozito. Mowing the lawn will get you to the bottom of a pair of 4ah batteries, and they'll get pretty warm doing it and eventually need replacing. You will then find Aldi will have 0 stock of their Ferrex batteries available anywhere, and even if they do have some, they don't always have bigger ones useful for the mower.

  • i've got one an older version from a previous year and can't really complain about much.

aldi is also selling a 2-in-1 electric trimmer/brush cutter . it is unclear whether it is 20V or 2x 20V. i've got the 2x 20V 5-in-1 model and it has been fine for my purposes

  • I have been waiting for this one to come back, I missed it last time and I have too many aldi batteries to bother trying anything else. I want to replace my current aldi mower which works pretty okay but it is annoying that the 8ah batteries don't fit in the slots.

I got mine from that deal so 2.5 years old. Rock solid. You need to sharpen the blade once per year or it starts to chew through the batteries. If you use the 2nd lowest height setting, it will mow 300 square meters on 1 charge. I actively take care of the batteries, eg. During charging, I have a mini fan blowing on them to keep them cool to extend the batteries life. After charging is complete, I disconnect the charger and let the battery cool off for 15 mins with the fan. After mowing, I wait 1hr for the batteries to cool and then put a 60% charge for storage because I read storing fully charged batteries degrades the battery health. All this seems to be working and the batteries are holding up well after 2.5 years with no loss in performance or run time.

  • Does this one fold? And should I buy additional 8.0ah battery as spare? I got about 120m² yard.

    • You would want spare batteries but I don't think 8ah would fit in this mower, also it takes two batteries so you would need two if you would want a spare. But saying that you might get away doing a 120m² yard in one charge. The handle folds down but I never do it so don't know how easy it is.

It takes 8.0ah. That is what I use.

        • Good to know. That sucks for me I have an older version of this and they don't fit.

@denserham: Time to return it as broken and get a full refund before this comes out ;)

          Thanks for confirming!

          I need to buy 2x8.0ah right? I am guessing I can't use single 8.0ah or 1 4.0 and 1 8.0 together?

          • +1

@Savesome: I don't see why you wouldn't be able to. I haven't tested, but I can a bit later if you'd like. I bought the two 8.0ah for piece of mind, but i find it unnecessary (Disclaimer: I don't cut my grass old person short as I don't mind a bit of growth, I cut at 3rd setting). I use about 60/200% between the two. Unless you have a big lawn and don't clean it the blades, etc, 2x4.0ah should suffice. Buy the 2 8.0ah, keep em boxed and see how you go with the included batteries as these are now "Ultra" which means they may be upgraded.

  • Can you use other brands of batteries with this using an adapter?

  • Any Ozito to Ferrex adapters?

  • Katana 36v mower on offer would be a much better deal than this one.

  • Buy EGO, any other brand is garbage
