[eBay Plus] 50% off Sendle & Australia Post Postage Labels until 31/05 (Max 3) @ eBay Australia

1370

Postage promotion for May 2023. Not free, but looks like it's the only offer from eBay right now. Combine with 3x $0 Variable Fees promo

You can check if you have the promo with the following instructions if you've previously sold an item:

  1. View your orders here for browser (or on the eBay app, go to 'Selling' tab, then 'Sold')

  2. Click on one of your orders and click on "Purchase another label". You should see the promo under the 'Services' section where you choose your courier service and it should say in green text:

3x 50% off postage labels for eBay Plus members until 31/05

Enjoy :)

Thanks OP. Shame it’s not free like last month, but still a good deal to pair with the ongoing $0 variable fee deal.

Noticed the other day a message in the sellers page that eBay now covers missing items up to $750. So if someone claims they didn't receive your item Ebay will pay the refund:

    https://community.ebay.com.au/t5/eBay-Announcements/We-ve-im…

    • Nice! Just sent an item worth $700 to a user with 1 feedback score and an account made in 2017. Have a bit more piece of mind now.
I waited to post until the funds went from processing to available for payout, but nice to have an added layer of protection.

      • It doesn't protect you from someone receiving it and demanding a refund . And they send you back any rubbish tracked. The most common scam and the postal system is fall of this rubbish .

        • +5

I had a buyer like that. Claimed it was faulty and sent me back an emtpy box. Ebay asked me to make a statutory declaration signed by a JP that I wasn't sent back the original item and the buyer was denied a rerund. Then again, might be because my account is in good standing. Oh and still annoying an time consuming.

          • @Vita85: I sell a lot of items on eBay as a hobby side business and have yet to come across a customer like this. But it will happen eventually.

One suggestion I was thinking of is videoing the entire unboxing of what the customer sends back, just in case they return an empty package or rubbish.

            • @Cluster: Happened to me. Over a thousand sales before I got the scammer.

What was the item? A $50 Xbox controller. They returned a different, broken one.

          • +1

@Vita85: More likely eBay refunded the buyer and absorbed the cost themselves. They don't/can't workout who is telling the truth. As long as the seller signs a stat dec they're covered. I've gone through the process successfully a few times now. They also protect sellers up to $750 if parcel was scanned as delivered but buyer says they didn't receive - eBay will absorb the loss and refund the buyer. Now they have extended seller protection to lost in transit as long as you have at least one tracking scan. Pretty damn good.

Nope won't use Sendle ever again. Label created with ETA of 5 days, then suddenly once it's picked up the ETA changes to 30+ days. They couldn't even tell which state the item was in.
Not the only bad experience with them neither.

    • You're lucky. Label created with Sendle for pickup. 1.5wks later still not picked up.
Happens every time they choose aramex for the route.

  • I'm a little new to eBay but have started selling some odds and ends that have been lying around the house (video games, DVDs, old electronic equipment etc) and it's been going pretty well.
I haven't joined eBay Plus so what am I missing out on as an occasional seller? I see things like this deal every now and again, or discounted listing fees, but they often say targetted? Would I actually definitely get any benefit by joining?
    Thanks

eBay Plus brings discounted fees every now and then. If you're selling something expensive you can recoup the Plus fee in one sale.

Also in March eBay Plus provided 10 free shipping labels for any size package. I sent a few 10kg boxes interstate.

Avoid Sendle if you have a choice vs Aus Post. Had two consecutive bad experiences. First parcel delayed over a month at the drop off location and courier 'forgot' to pick up. Second box was crushed and jammed into mailbox. Its cheap for a reason.

    • +1

The problem with Sendle is they're just the middle man and some other courier company does the actual delivery. Which one will it be? Who knows? You don't, until the label is printed.

My experience with Sendle over about 15 packages has been all good, so far.

    • Sendle then crumple

  • Trouble with sendle has been for people who live in rural areas and do not have a street address, or in regional and rural areas away from major towns that many couriers do not deliver to.

Australia post is far from perfect but at least they have the decent post office network across Australia that none of the dodgy courier companies come close to having. Most of the dodgy courier companies cherry pick and only offer reasonable service in Metro areas.

  • +1

My tip with Sendle is that for delivery to major metro area is fast and reliable, but for regional areas go for Auspost if possible. Sendle have to forward parcels to Auspost where there is no courier coverage, and if Aramex is used, currently the service is very unreliable, like pick up parcels only happen once or twice a week in Melbourne.

    • In Sydney, and agree with everything you said, even the Aramex part

  • Mine keeps saying error, because my last sale has been delivered already.
    Is that normal?

    • No, you should be able to generate many labels for one order, no matter the state of the order (not cancelled)

      • damn, i just keep getting errors

      • Maybe they've fixed this loophole? I've just gone to create a label for an item that's been delivered and when I click to create the label it gives an error saying you've already created a label for that item.

I think maybe if the item hasn't been delivered you may be able to create another label, but once delivered you can't.

      • Loophole? Can you generate a label with a different address from an already posted sale order?

  • +1

I wouldn't use sendle for my kilos of coke shipments

  • +1

The last couple times I used Sendle where surprisingly good experiences.

  • Is this offer automatically available for items that were listed last month if they sell this month (no need to end listing and relist to get the cheap label)?

    • +1

      correct

      • +1

        Thanks for confirming!

  • How do you find out about these postage deals? I didn't know of the free until I was sending a sold item and now the ½ price Sendle. But I'm not getting any Ebay notifications for it. Maybe I don't have a setting selected. But thanks for the instructions to find out if I have the offer, and I do.

  • Is it 50% off, regardless of weight? Have a 7-10kg package…

  • My experience with this has been dodgy. I got charged the full amount of postage without 50% off (green text eligibility). Ebay support told me if you added signature (mine was compulsory for $500+ item), added insurance or even changed the dimensions and weight, their system flags the changes and the promo does not apply. There is nothing in T&Cs, nothing on the labels page or promo conditions that mentions any of this.

Has anyone experienced this? I'm expecting a follow up except they're taking the fees tomorrow.

    • Did you not confirm the final price before creating the label?

      • The final price was the full price (checked again and with a older order), nothing was deducted so I assumed this would have taken effect after purchase.

        • Interesting. And the green text promo was showing?

          • @I Smell Pennies: Absolutely. The only time it doesn't is if 'Australia Post Package' under 'Package' section was selected. Mine was on 'Custom Size' far below the maximum weight and size.
I have to wait to hear back from their internal team with a result if they will approve the 50% to me. If not, I'd request chargeback the difference. If what the support team said is true, I would think there would be a lot more people having this issue as it would exclude many people.

            • @[Deactivated]: Definitely fight this and let us know the outcome. Curious to see what has gone wrong. I reckon what they told you was bullshit

              • @I Smell Pennies: Okay so update:
The 50% discount did apply after all. A good part of it was my screw up misunderstanding the green text at the end saying I saved X amount with eBay. Having said that it's still sneaky they omit that the services (signature and insurance cover) does not apply as they are considered services and not postage if that makes sense.

                • @[Deactivated]: @Aristbottle thanks for the update and glad to hear it did apply! At least you know now 😂 Happy selling!

            • @[Deactivated]:

If not, I'd request chargeback the difference.

This won't solve the problem - you'll still owe eBay that money and they'll eventually close and ban your account if you don't pay. You can't just leave your account in arrears indefinitely.

              • @Nom: I've been charged the full price now. Getting a charge back 50% of what I should have gotten is fair. I don't see how I'd owe money ebay took more than they should of.

        • i can confirm on mine it shows discounted before confirming the label final button

          • @CyberMurning: That's strange it didn't work for me. I even went through older orders, applying no postage changes, green text visible and the promo still does not subtract before confirmation.

            • @[Deactivated]: hmm i just about to send something and yes it didnt show the discount anymore. 1 week ago, yes i saw the dsicount.

            • @[Deactivated]: if you already see the green text then your case is different from me, but for me apparanetly the buyer selected some services which isnt right, therefore i didnt get the 50% off. when i select custom size and weight, it shows up more options for me and i get the 50% off.

    • eBay reps making things up as they go along is about par for the course. Insurance and signature fees won't be discounted but the postage fee should be halved for 3 items regardless.

      • +1

        I think you're right.
After hearing back from ebay, they did in fact deduct 50% from the postage label and I can confirm when applying the promo, I get a "Buying on eBay you saved X" green text underneath, of which does not appear if selecting a non-promo option.

So you're right, they discounted the base postage fee but it does not apply to signature or insurance. Still sneaky imo but the promo did apply after all.
