[eBay Plus] 3x Free Postage Labels (Australia Post & Sendle, All Sizes) for eBay Plus Members until 30/04 @ eBay Australia

2180

Hi all,

Thanks to ISP for the format, and unfortunately this deal isn't as good as it was last month, however, it is good to see that eBay have continued including Australia Post in the free labels. Hopefully in the next few days we uncover a free FVF promo to stack with this.

As usual, the T&Cs for the deal is impossible to find, but applied to all three of my eBay Plus accounts, so I assume it is just eBay Plus specific, but let me know if you didn't receive the offer and we can flag as targetted. When you go to print the label, it will come up with a screen like this (before someone comments, incognito was because I was checking my other account and is easier than logging out), which shows that all options are free for 3 parcels. Perfect time to send that heavy stuff as it is free up to 22kg and 0.25m³ with Auspost.

You can check with the following instructions via the eBay website (THANKS ISP FOR ALLOWING ME TO PLAGARISE):

  1. View your orders here (or on the eBay app, go to 'Selling' tab, then 'Sold'

  2. Click on one of your orders and click on "Purchase another label". You should see the promo under the 'Services' section where you choose your courier service and it should say in green text:

3 FREE Postage labels for eBay Plus members until 30/04

  • Looks like they've changed the Selling Hub layout recently?!

    • +14

The whole website is terrible, product owner should be fired

      • +1

Agree, and it doesn't seem to remember your choice of opting out of Seller Hub.

Still a bit strange purchasing these in advance as it gererates another one for the last sale again.. Seems to be ok next time anyway.

      • agreed

  • +1

    Who is ISP ?

    • +7

      @ismellpennies, care to introduce yourself?

  • Do they still offer 5 free selling items for free this month? (no final fee)

    • +3

Later in the month, hopefully next week
      Thanks OP

      • That deal never comes to me.

    • Not dropped yet.

  • +13

eBay Plus is quickly becoming a must-have for sellers.

    • +5

The free post is a new benefit and I agree worth the subscription fee.

Just keep in mind, until 2 weeks ago, ebay were on a continuous downhill to reduce seller benefits. They have been trying for a long time to make ebay plus a must have but only by reducing benefits that non-plus members used to receive (eg. stopping the zero FVF for regular members). Somehow, despite cost cutting and having subscription income they made their FVF fees skyrocket (rollseyes).

Let's see how high their fees hit to compensate for this new benefit. Because their FVF are already crazy… yet I imagine they will increase the fees yet again.

  • For 0 FVF, do i need to delete old listings (not sold in last month) and relist again from scratch, once its available?

    • +2

Yup now's the time to delete them. That's best practise for relisting, but some say you can use Sell similar.

      • +8

You can sell similar and it works. If you already listed you item under last months promo and the item hasn't been automatically relisted yet, then last months promo will still apply! Always best practice to 'sell similar' and list the same item on the last day of the month, so you can effectively utalise a promo for almost 2 months

        • +1

But to answer your question, yes you'll need to Relist the item to qualify for the new promo when it drops (soon hopefully!)

        • +1

Ah of course, you can keep a listing up after the calendar month. How could I forget. Not going to risk it with an expensive item though.

      • +4

Yes you can use sell similar

        BUT BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL!!!!

Today i had a clash with scummy, scamie, KNTY! ebay.

So what happened (ALWAYS before posting the item to the buyer CHECK what's the amount that ebay will pay you out!!!) eBay charged me full fee even though I've repost the item as sell similar and not as reposting previously sold/unsold item, and it even had different item number which proves i haven't relisted same item, scum wanted to screw me over so i called to resolve but had no time to wait for it, cancelled, posted new similar item, contacted buyer, repurchased and all good.

NEVER RELY ON THE SISTEM OR THEM TO DO THE "RIGHT THING"!!!

Once the item is posted, it's posted and it's game over. You've been warned.

        • +4

Always do as a new item. Not similar item or relist. Because ebay are scumbags they created this insipid "must be a new item" loophole to avoid giving you benefits.

        • I had a similar thing happen to me once where Ebay CS said that as I listed the same item the promo didn't apply to it, even though I use the "sell similar" function (not re-list). To get around it I simply said it was a different item, and after a bit of back and forward they reversed the fee. But from then on if an item doesn't sell I'll make a new listing and reword it a bit and swap the image order just to be safe.

      • +5

DO NOT RELIST or SELL SIMILAR ITEM. eBay will not honor waving fees.
Very hard to negotiate with them regarding this.
Just create a new listing altogether. Before that copy paste listing description and pictures from previous listing. Takes a minute extra but will save you endless conversation with eBay.

        • +2

eBay will not honor waving fees.

Even if you state it was an entirely new listing?

          • +2

@Techie4066: I wish I kept a chat transcript last time it happened to me but the customer service told me to click on create a new listing option for it to be counted as a new listing.

        • +3

DO NOT RELIST or SELL SIMILAR ITEM.

          ^ This.

A couple of months ago, the eBay CSR chatted to me
and said that new listings are better for their system,
and to qualify for their offers,
irrespective of whether "sell similar" generates a new Item ID.

So, I have been doing this, ie. create an entire new listing,
because it is not worth the time to fight with eBay afterwards,
to claw back the FVF…and I guess they've designed this system this way, just to tire people out, haha

          • +2

@whyisave: I always use the "Have one to sell? Sell it yourself" link and it always works for me.

    • +2

Edit: I was typing this response on my phone and there are 3 similar responses already. That's the spirit!

If your item was listed during the promo period then the promo is valid until the listing expires in 30 days.

If you delete a listing, instead of relisting from scratch use the 'sell similar item' feature from the deleted listing. That way you don't have to start from scratch and it still counts as a new listing towards the promo. Tested once and this worked for me.

      • +1

Isn't the promo valid for example in march to be listed and sold till 31st march? For example it sells on 5th April will be charged full fee, no?

        • +1

Nah goes based on when it was listed. I just relisted all of mine about 2 hours ago, so they'll qualify under last months promo

        • +1

          From the comment:

If your item was listed during the promo period then the promo is valid until the listing expires in 30 days.

People have been lucky but going by the T&Cs there's nothing precluding eBay from charging fees. And as you say above, the system doesn't behave consistently and eBay support is hell. You won't have a case against them.

        • +1

Last time I used this promo it said list before x date. But no condition on when it should sell buy. But best to check the fine print when a new promo comes out since they change it up from time to time.

          • +1

@fastnet: Hasn't been the case since these promotions ran regularly from August. I'm not risking it.

            When does the promotion run?
The promotion runs from 00:00 (AEDT) on 1 March 2023 and ends on 11:59pm (AEDT) 31 March 2023 (“Promotion Period”).

            What is the Promotion?
The Promotion entitles Eligible Sellers, who have activated this promotion in accordance with these terms, to 0% variable fees (which is a component of Final Value Fees as defined on eBay.com.au) on 5 sales per Promotion Period on Eligible Listings.

  • better say this is same offer ebay provided monthly. last 10x free was extra in March.

    • +1

Normally is only Sendle. The 10x last month only came out on the second half of the month and was in addition to the regular 3 from Sendle

  • +3

Ebay Plus is simply the best

  • +1

Currently fishing atm but thanks for the heads up!

    OP is a legend

    • +1

      I smell fishes!

      • I smell chips's!

  • Handy and hopefully they keep up a few selling promotions. Last months 10 free labels ran out fast but managed to sell one item and got free postage.

  • +3

What if you have not sold anything on eBay and are a plus member, I don't see this promo

    • If you sell something I think it still pops up as available.

  • +1

Thanks OP. Having taken full advantage of last months offer, I wouldn't have bothered checking if there were more freebies this month (I assumed it to be a "one-time-deal") so this is a nice surprise. cheers!

  • +1

Im having difficulty finding it. Is it because I haven’t sold any using eBay, although I'm a plus member

  • +3

Sendle and AP must be in a race to see who can burn more money on eBay. I sent a 10kg package for free across the country with Sendle last month, and seven packages with AP. eBay Plus has more than paid for itself.

  • -2

Can these only be used for sending eBay items to the buyers?

    • Who else would you sent them to?
Yes it prints out a label.

      PS never use sendle.

      • Can these be used to send a parcel to a friend, unrelated to an eBay sale?

    • No. You can use that to send gifts to Ozbargain users as well.

  • +1

Sendle can be unreliable sometimes, I regret to use it last month. Two package didn't get pick up from courier after a week or two.

    • Promo allows Auspost too, which I'd recommend over Sendle! However, sendle's insurance is $300 whereas Auspost is only $100, so if the item is over $100 then Sendle may be worth it, but ymmv

      • +1

Sendle offering $300 insurance is one thing but trying to actually claim it if and when things go awry most likely won't be pleasant.

  • +1

Penny was a hero with the last 10 one . I found it a bit too late but pushed bulky items to just hit the quota on the last day . People in remote ares are big winners with these deals .
Tks OP for the new one . I can plan this one well :)

  • +1

Does anyone now if is possible to print those ebay label at the Auspost?
I had a item returned to cex and they send me a QR that I just showed to the staff and they printed the label and put on the box. Can I do the same selling via ebay?

    • +2

When I tried in the past they did not allow it to be printed at Auspost, not sure if they've updated it since

  • -1

I gave up on ebay to sell things. Seller Hub is awful (targeting only professional sellers), complicated to list, fees are way too much (I rather sell for cheaper), discounts are difficult, … Better options: for private sellers to offload their used items Facebook Marketplace is better (at least when you are in the big cities) and for professional sellers it's Amazon.

In Germany ebay removed all fees for private sellers since the 01/03/23 - less and less people were using it. Amazing how they could ruin such a great business model.

    • +1

Just change to the basic selling hub.
I agree about the fees, but bit better if take advantage of these new free postage and 50-100% off listing fee promos.

FB marketplace and Gumtree is a different level of annoying - low ballers, too many messages and time wasters.

    • +1

Try again. You list a item in less than 3 minutes

    • +2

What's your time worth, dealing with low ballers, window shoppers, no showers and general time wasters on FB marketplace and Gumtree?

13.5% is a small price to pay.

      • +2

I find a lot of the time you will get that 14% more for things you sell on ebay vs local anyway. More often than not i have things sitting on gumtree/marketplace for a week or 2 and get nothing but ppl trying to knock 30+% off what i'm asking or saying they will take it and then never hearing from them again. Throw it up on ebay for gumtree price +14% and shipping costs and its gone within days. Don't have to converse with anyone. They click buy it now and i post it when convenient. Easy.

    • +1

"In Germany ebay removed all fees for private sellers since the 01/03/23"
Wow if this is correct here's hoping it spreads to here.

  • Does this work with returning items?

    • Nope

    • -2

Does not but I suppose you could sell something to yourself and change the address to be the return address? Probably breaches eBay's T&Cs though, so do at your own risk

  • +1

Thanks for posting! So happy they’re including Australia Post, now. After a really shit experience with Sendle (that I fought hard and won), the few times I used them afterwards gave me mega anxiety. The money saving was worth the anxiety, I guess, or I wouldn’t have used them again, but I still hate it.

  • Can I get this offer if I join ebay plus now?

  • Does this work for international postage or only domestic?

  • Would this work if I I sell sneakers with authenticity guarantee?

    • Yep should be fine. Authenticity guarantee postage to ebay warehousee is paid by ebay so I guess that you just pay the postage from ebay to the seller using this label

  • If the buyer is in New Zealand will that work or only for domestic?

    • I believe it is only domestic

  • Hi, is there a way to get this if I have no listings under sold? I am an eBay plus member. Cheers

    • +1

You have to sell something to generate the label

      • Makes sense, thank you

        • But could always sell something to yourself for $1 on another account and have the "item" sent to the address you want to send the other item to

  • Has anyone experiencing problem printing/purchasing the free postage label? I am getting an error message saying they cannot generate the label.

    • +1

Nope I just generated one yesterday

      • Did you use auspost label or sendle?

        • Both. I generated two labels for an order

    • I can't even get to that, whenever I click on purchase postage label it goes to a page that says "Something went wrong. Sorry, an error occurred while loading the page. Please try again."

      • +1

check dispatch address, not empty not PO, has to be street addr.

        • Thanks, buyer's address looks ok though - regular address. Ebay chat were useless, just said they'd escalate it and assured me it would be fixed within 48 hours 😑

          • +1

@Chickenleg: checked your dispatch addr from account -> address? if never updated, it may be empty there.

            • @test8888: Holy crap - that was it. Legend! Now that makes eBay chat even more useless that they didn't suggest that! Thanks!

  • +1

is this good excuse for sendle price up? we noticed its 250g parcel kept going up last 3 months.
    (2022): 4.18 / 5.28
    (9/1): 4.48 / 5.63 (announced)
    (27/3): 4.66 / 5.85
    (9/4): 4.82 / 5.93

even didn't see any notice with last 2 changes.

  • Is ebay going to have this deal every month?

  • I'm now over $500 in postage saved between this month and last month. eBay plus surely can't keep this deal active. I've only paid $2.10 in final value fees for the last 7 sales as well. Thanks eBay (said no one until these deals)

Exhibit A from a sale made yesterday.

    • +3

I sent a parcel from country Victoria at the maximum length possible and cubic weight of 32KG to Hervey Bay, QLD
      Says I saved $150+ Lol

      • +1

My one above was from regional Vic to Gladstone Qld. Bloody ripper deal.

        • Hows those eye popping Australia Post prices that I would never pay? Would probably have been cheaper to fly to Hervey Bay and take my parcel as baggage. Guess they have to pay for the Cartiers somehow..

  • Ended early again. Ebay not silticking to their promotional timelines is really annoying. I only ended up using 1 of the 3. No longer free

    • Disappointing - thanks for the heads up.

    • Wdym? It’s still free for me. Just checked all my accounts and can confirm the promo is still valid

      • Okay, on my account gone. I will ask CS what's up

  • Finally used my last free postage label. Saved about $105. $80 on one parcel. Combined with the no final value fees, I saved nearly $250. Wouldn't be surprised if they stopped doing this promotion soon.

  • +3

New offer is 3 x 50% off postage labels for Sendle this month

  • +1

Thanks I didnt realise that. Even better!
