GTX 16050 4GB, is this the DDR10 or DDR10X version?

    • +3

      it must weigh like 15kgs

    GTX 16050

Wow! that’s a lot of gpu for the price. ;)

  • odd to pair such new cpu with old gpu

      Gotta cut them corners.

    • Have you heard of the "brand new" 1630s? Nvidia will be pumping out 1650 for a while yet.

    • In the budget laptop GPU market it's basically 1650/ti, 3050/ti or 3060.

I've owned the 1650ti. It does what it needs to do at that price.

  • Very nice value in this

Would be very surprised if it doesn't thermal throttle 95% of the time gaming or high productivity etc

  • I'm in the market for a gaming laptop. Is it the norm for gaming laptops to only have Windows Home level, as opposed to Windows Professional preload?

They both come with Key-logger embedded as Standard.😏

      Yes

  • 3060 laptops were this price year ago

  • Better offers a few weeks ago which had an RTX 3050 and 16GB RAM, was only $100 more

    https://www.jw.com.au/product/manufacturer-refurbished-acer-…

I'll just leave this here. 3060, mux switch, 165Hz QHD panel, 1 yr warranty, refurbished

    • whats a mux switch

      • +2

it's when you can switch which graphics card your display is connected to

no mux switch is cheaper and means that display is always connected to igpu (in this case Intel graphics built into the CPU), which is good for power saving, but when gaming there's additional latency because every frame generated by NVIDIA GPU needs to go to Intel GPU to be displayed on the screen

having mux switch means that when gaming you can "connect" your display to NVIDIA GPU directly for improved latency and panel sync.

TL/DR: mux switch is super good in a gaming laptop

  • need 3060 deal

      • This actually looks quite decent. Do you know if refurbished units are ok? They say dead pixels etc aren’t covered by warranty. Does this have a mux switch too?

        • I had Acer refurbished before, no issues. looks and feels new, just doesn't come in retail box. that was 2020, so almost 3 years back. haven't bought anything from them since.

  • Is this laptop good for office and personal use, non gaming? Was thinking of getting a second hand HP elite book but need 15 inch screen.

    • Its overkill for it but given the price. Get it.

      • Thanks, damn just missed it!
