This just keeps going down and down. When's it going to be under 200 I wonder.

    • Last deal had heatsink so better value really.

  • +1

Be aware this is the version without the heatsink so if you need to add to the PS5 you might right into overheating issues

    • Most of the newer PC motherboards comes with pre-heat sink installed. You can just grab one off it and install it into the PS5. That's if you have recently built a new computer and only required to use one NVMe slot for now.

      • Yeah. I guess. I don't have any spares so happy I paid $230 for the one with the heatsink just the other day.

    • I bought a heatsink off ebay (Jeyi brand) for $10 and it works fine with the PS5.

  • was waiting for this. thankyou!

  • How does the warranty work since from Amazon US?

    • No one talk about this but this is extremely important. A lot of Manufacturers only honour warranty if it is Australian Stock. I have looked up a couple of them and they have it clearly mentioned that warranty won't be valid for products bought via the cross-country route. Not sure about WD though.

      • This is pretty standard practice.

Amazon AU will facilitate return for refund, they don't do replacement for amazon.com, amazon.co.uk, etc. Also refund only happens when the item is received back at amazon.com which from experience took about 4 weeks a couple months ago (this was within 30 day return period, so I can't comment after that).

Never had a problem returning hard drives to Amazon US they even covered the shipping costs on the 2 occasions I had issues.

I should add 1 item was about 6 months old the other over 1 year.

        • Thanks for the info

        • Interesting. I did some digging on this topic and it seems people have had experiences of amazon not offering any support after the 30 day return period. Nothing to worry if it is within the 30 day period though.

@ninohax: I've returned a few faulty items (some even outside warranty) back to the USA /UK and never had an issue.

            • @cooleagles: Great to hear. I am now slightly confident to order from USA/UK. May I ask how long the return process took? Did they offer you a refund or replacement ?

              • +1

@ninohax: Only refund. From memory it took a week or 2 to refund.

      • WD warranty is region specific. So you cant get warranty through WD for a US region product and you have to use Amazon warranty instead.

Amazon handle the return. Mine failed after 1.5 years and i received a full refund of the purchase price. They dont make it easy, I had to return it through Parcelpoint, the closest which was 180km away from me. They flat out refused to let me return through Australia Post. In the end though, it all worked out great, so at least Amazon look after us where Samsung completely fail to.

I paid $500+ for this drive ~2 years ago. This hurts!

Buy more and bring the average price down.

      • +2

I like the way you think.

    • At least you didn't buy 4 of them

Haha, "frequently bought together: Little Skill Seekers & NVMe SSDs"

I wonder what sort of algorithm weirdness this sort of thing causes down the line…

    • +2

the seller should be Amazon US otherwise you messed up.

        • +1

There is nothing in that seller's storefront.

        • +1

So why did you say "Ordered mine from the same seller on 25th February but never received" then if you know it's not the same seller?

        • +1

          rekt

  • is there anything else that's cheapish we can stack for the 5%? i can't sort by price. :(

  • If someone in Melbourne doesn't want the skill seekers book, I'll take it off your hands.

    • +2

So are you a skill seeker seeker?

      • +1

Why, are YOU a skill seeker seeker seeker?

Remember to update your firmware Samsung has issued a firmware fix for 980 pro due numerous reports of drive failure

  • Thought I got a good deal a month ago at $270.

  • you can pickup heatsinks for 15 bucks or less if your planing on puting this in your PS5 finally people can enjoy the space :D I have had my 2tb pro since the firmware was unlocked to use the ssd slot. still giong strong and 80 games installed as well so good!!

  • If you add the SSD and then the book, you can get the discount of a second SSD if you want 2.

  • Is this overkill as a boot drive for windows 11? My el-cheapo 512gb Adata SSD is starting to fail when my pc boots :(

    • +1

Probably but it's a good drive with the dram and you can use it for anything else with high end sequential read/write requirements. The cost difference is quite negligible these days.

  • Is this better than the Crucial P5+?
