[Possible Price Error] Seagate Hard Drives and Other Things Going Super Cheap from an Amazon Seller

This post contains affiliate links. OzBargain might earn commissions when you click through and make purchases. Please see this page for more information.

I imagine this is a mistake but it has been available for >10 minutes and has allowed me to make orders.

Although the shipping is quite steep (almost $36 for 1 hard drive) I have found a number of items for as low as 1c.

I managed to complete 1 order to make sure it worked (YES IT LET ME SHIP TO AUS!) so I guess we'll see how it goes from here.

Probably words lost in the world of OzBargain but try to minimised your orders to allow other people a chance (is Broden-ing still a thing on here?)

Mod:
Please note that the seller is a company called Original Wireless (website). All payments, credit card information and refunds are done by Amazon.com. Amazon does not charge until the item is shipped out.

Mod footnote 2:
With respect to items sold by Amazon, we cannot confirm the price of an item until you order; however, we do NOT charge your credit card until after your order has entered the shipping process. Despite our best efforts, a small number of the items in our catalog may be mispriced. If an item's correct price is higher than our stated price, we will, at our discretion, either contact you for instructions before shipping or cancel your order and notify you of such cancellation.

    • Amazon refunds cost+ full shipping.

    • Call your CC company and do get them to charge back.

  • You're dreamin … this ain't goin' anywhere.

  • +3

I love reading oz bargain comments for the entertainment factor. Can't wait to see what next…

  • +5

I am selling my house for $25, direct deposit only.

Gullible fools required. Plenty of jackpot fools in this thread.

    • +1

      lol…..jackpot

    • +3

I'm happy to deposit $25 in your bank. Please reply with the address and bank details.
Expect the notice of caveat on your house in the mail and the story about how you legally lost your house to be on the internets soon.

      • -1

Caveats don't work without an address, and are easily removed for a small processing fee.

        Lol

        • +1

Did you miss the bit that said "PLEASE REPLY WITH THE ADDRESS"

And is the processing fee more than the $25 he would make??

          LOL

        • -2

the fee is the same. multiple sales versus 1 caveat removal.

          Lolachu, d1ck

        • +1

So the Caveat removal fee is $25??

          Bless you!

  • All your details are belong to us! :p

  • +2

Oh dear, the look on the person's face when they open their packages from amazon to find 200 mobile phone cases…

    • That person will be the one laughing in a century or two when they have a pristine vintage Motorola that has never been out of a case! ;)

  • UPDATE: My card has been charged! Looks like this is actually going through, that or I'm gonna have to do a chargeback… :(

    • +2

What's going through? You've ordered computer parts from a mobile phone accessory retailer. What do you think can possibly happen that makes the computer parts materialise?

  • Just tried to order 4 of the wireless mice for $0.99 each but the postage came up at $141.00 wtf !!

    Cancelled that idea

    • +2

Did you read through the thread at all?

  • +1

Prediction: Many hrs of pain for nothing..

  • Hmm I've been charged.

All the things I bought had proper descriptions and images though.

See what happens I guess. If anything I hope the refunds are fast, don't want to wait 8 weeks for a refund.

    • -1

you mean "Hmm, I've been SCAMMED"

Why hasn't a MOD pulled this thread yet? They are SO quick to cry OFF TOPIC and other stuff, yet they leave this online so that more and more people can fall prey to purchasing phone cases instead of hard drive.

WHERE ARE YOU MODS? SLEEPING?? or just LAUGHING??

      • +1

We all know of the risks before buying anything. Clearly not scammed :P

However I've put in a cancellation, as I can't afford to wait 8 weeks for a refund :P

        • -1

          Self-scammed then.

i.e. people should have known better. Any complaints are moot when you take into account the stupidity factor.

      • The moderator notes are listed in the description. I've added a warning to the title, the description, and enough comments here show the warning. It may be moved to the forum but won't be removed as there is much discussion.

Thanks for the kind words. We obviously sit here all day on our thrones planning our next power trip to screw with users.

        • -6

          caveat emptor huh?

          Nice throne. Does it flush?

        • We obviously sit here all day on our thrones planning our next power trip to screw with users.

C'mon neil, we all know you that don't do the R&D on that yourselves…you have a cabal of evil geniuses (ok, 100 monkeys at 100 typewriters) working on it night & day! ;)

  • LOL, this ain't going to happened as no business could provides at these prices.

    • of course, but remember we are talking about a mobile phone accessory business. They were never in a position to supply high-end computer gear and projectors.

  • +4

So, hands up anyone who fell for this? I'd like to see the number of people who went for the honeypot :)

    • …..(pin drops)

    • a positive for your comment on whoever fell for it.
      I'll be the first.
      -_-

  • +3

I doubt any lessons will be learned here. International transaction, obvious error, mobile accessories vendor. We wonder why people get duped all the time, greed.

    • +4

I think everyone knew it wouldn't work, but they can't live with the idea of missing out if the sale went through somehow, so they take a shot.

I was tempted but managed to resist!

    • To be fair, Expon - there was the amazing "seems-too-good-to-be-true" Dell printer deal the month before last: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/73273

      • It wasn't really too good to be true. It was selling for $29 and they sold it for $9 to clear them out.

They more than honored their end of the bargain by giving replacement units of a better model.

        • was actually selling for $59 and they sold them for $9. Big difference

    • Was purchasing the $9 printer greed?

  • Has this bargain been submitted to Fail Blog?

  • +4

They have fixed the page now. Thanks for not deleting an OBVIOUS error post Mods. I will trust you with my children any day.

  • +8

    ENJOY YOUR PHONE CASES GUYS.

    HAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAH

    • +1

and $150 postage for them. Non-refundable. Suckers.

  • +4

I wonder if Original Wireless is based in Nigeria…

  • +4

    Lol you guys got rolled!!

    • -1

      WOW, really?

    • Not really.

Just do a chargeback, not to mention amazon is suprisingly good about this sort of thing, they refund the cost + shipping.

    • Rick Rolled?

  • +1

Isn't it still the nighttime/wee hours in America? So it's still possible then these suspect black hat hackers hijacking this poor vendor may revert all the original pictures/website back to the previous order and therefore back in sync with those real ASIN codes.

It could then play out as such that after this effective "cover-up", legitimate seller - wireless accessory guy - awakens in the morrow, bemused and only to commence processing what for a huge surprise must look like inexplicit record sales volume purchased from around the globe.

He/she, it follows, will then need to plan for more stock of 'Motorola Slim Batteries' as well as 'Nokia Leather Cases' as these had easily proven the most popular cellphone items. ..Yes, only a few short hours and then s/he rises, inevitably to begin finalizing a new days round of shipments.

We can bet Mr/s Wireless will be avid to supply so many newly minted customers - minus a handful here or there of disgruntled 'OB'ers' who seemingly cancelled plans in a hasty overnight mystery.

Hah — good luck in arranging your refund.

    • +1

It has been a whole day there since the sales, its now night time. Although it was Sunday so expect a few bemused looks in about 10hrs depending on which coast the store is located in.

Even if it is fully refunded I hope it take 8 weeks given the people trying to take advantage of an error knowing it was wrong. If they got scammed? well hopefully they learn a lesson in common sense.

      • -3

Even the receipts i have here (the ones amazon mail you after a successful order) clearly show the items name and description.

If anything they will just mass cancel orders, they wont do what people in here are saying and ship mismatched products (ie what the SKU actually lines up with)

What ozbargain ordered was nothing compared to what some of the guys at [H] ordered. A few of them were amazon staff as well, so will be interesting to see what they do.

Im not worried either way, either they ship the 80 or so hard drives i ordered over the 55 orders/21 accounts or they refund or they do neither and then i issue a full charge back. I have already quarantined the cash on the card with the bank this morning, and wont clear for them till i say (14 days max) its just a phantom cash sum thats been sent to the seller.

        • sounds like a nice waste of time there/here

        • +4

55 orders on 21 accounts? I call bullshit on that!

  • -7

I put in for one of the 8 Camera Security systems for about $50 delivered. Worse case, I'm out $50 until they can chargeback to the card.

Shame on all you lot that ordered huge volumes of anything. This is a sure way to highlight an error. A junior worker my not notice a pricing error on a few items and post a few things out before discovery but an order of 100 hard drives just raises questions immediately.

    • did you get confirmation for the order from amazon ? whats the order status?

    • +7

"Shame on all you lot that ordered huge volumes of anything. This is a sure way to highlight an error. A junior worker my not notice a pricing error on a few items and post a few things out before discovery but an order of 100 hard drives just raises questions immediately."

Wtf is wrong with you? You hoped that they wouldn't notice a pricing error and you would fraudulently get your crap?

      • -3

        Nothing fraudulent about it.

Made my order for one item, paid my money for one item, got my confirmation for one item.

If I had ordered 50, then that would be an easy admission of trying to scam them.

  • I +1ed without much thought at the beginning. Is it possible to remove votes?

    • Go to Votes and hit the revoke my vote button.

  • I m just new over here so just go easy…

I have spoke with customer rep on Amazon, According to him deal is legit.. I put my concern to him regarding ASIN no & all other product but he thinks that seller will ship item which is described (i.e. hdd or bd drive will be posted not any mobile accessory…)

However… He was rep from Amazon. Original wireless Inc. is third party seller and I don't think Amazon would have anything to do with what they shipping or how they shipping… That make me nervous…

Loosing $50 or $60 is not issue but loosing CC detail or account detail to third party is concerning.

    • +3

winfan, 3rd party sellers don't have access to your credit card/payment information. Only Amazon.com does and it works as a middle man. Similar to how Paypal works. So in that regard you should be fine. Whether or not they will send the goods is another story.

    • +2

CC details should be safe. It's Amazon that processes the payment.
      GL though!

  • +7

I still don't get why everyone is having a cry at those who purchased this (including myself).

Are we dreamers? Yes. Do we understand the risk involved? Yes. Have we thought it through? Yes.

Why is everyone who didn't cash in on this being so sour? Do you hate on random people for arbitrary things? Gosh I just hate those idiots that like the colour blue…

Worse come to worse we do a chargeback and I'm no worse off than when I started. I don't get why we are getting all this hate for potentially snagging this deal while risking nothing?

    • It's human nature, why else do people watch the footy fights? Why is boxing and MMA so popular, and we all secretly watch the V8's for the crashes! We love to watch others hurt, secretly, deep down inside…

But, nothing ventured, nothing gained. GL.

      • +2

I was in ccmplete agreement with both of you until v8's were mentioned, zzzz zzz zzzz…

    • -2

      You are missing the point

Unless people actually thought this was a REAL sale…everyone who bought were trying to take advantage of an obvious pricing error in the hope the vendor would honour it.

Those who didn't "cash in" were either smart enough to see it wouldn't work, nervous of a scam or just still have some morals…obviously some have none left.

  • still some crazy markdowns this seller is pretty slow ??????????

    • "Our sellers strive to minimize canceled orders."

Lol let's see how much they 'minimize' when we start getting them

  • Still in the "Shipping Soon" phase for me.

I've submitted a cancellation, yet to hear from them.

    8 week wait incoming :P

Might call my bank and get a reversal.

    • Yep, also in 'Shipping Soon' status.

  • wonder if he ordered from Original Wireless:
Man orders HDTV on Amazon, receives assault rifle instead
    http://www.digitaltrends.com/home-theater/man-orders-hdtv-on…

    • lol, I saw that article and thought of this "bargain" also ;)

  • Did anyone got any email from the seller?

    • Not yet. The funds are being held, havent actually been charged yet.

  • Below is the clause from their website:

    • Lol nice cancellation email, Amazon didn't even say sorry!

  • Yeah I got a cancellation of ONE of my orders so far..

  • Two of mine cancelled :(

  • +2

    Cancelled - heartbroken. Where's the nearest bridge…

    • -1

Nah, too messy…wait for another Shavershop bargain for cheap blades! ;)

    • Oh well. Got to be in it to win it….or not.

ROFL @ the butthurt people who didn't get what they wanted leaving bad feedback

One guy even put the last four digits of his credit card in there! (And he's an Aussie…)

Threatening to call the BBB (in the USA) and making a big deal about it just makes you look like a complete tosser.

    • Lol I find it hilarious reading the negative feedback given

      • yeah… I had my orders cancelled. No big deal. Was worth a try anyway :P

    • How stupid are people that they thought it was legit??!

As in, to the point of leaving neg feedback.

  • Another day, another cancelled order.

If they are going to cancel my orders one at a time, its going to take awhile.

    • +1

Think of it this way, at least you're getting value for money in administrative hours! ;)

  • +1

Yeah my orders also got cancelled - I chased them up through live chat and managed to find out "seller had no stock left for the order"

they could at least be upfront and honest and say it was a pricing error… this is poor form from such a large organization.

Anyway I managed to get $20 promo voucher from them due to this "INCONVENIENCE!!!" not what I ordered (15k worth of stuff) but $20 should keep me happy!
