50% off Variable Fees Promotion (Unlimited Listings) @ eBay

870

This promo came up in my eBay app - not behd if you've already used up your 5 free listings this month.

No limit to how many listings, ends 31/03.

Not sure whether targeted, I have eBay Plus.

Hope this helps someone!

EDIT: I CAN CONFIRM it goes through the 5 free listings first - sold an item last night, had both promos active

  • Got it thanks, better than zero fee promo I guess, been waiting for that for months now to offload stuff.

    Non-Plus account.

    • +6

It is only better than the zero fee promo if you have to sell a whole lot more than 5 items.

It costs $5 to subscribe to ebay plus for a month and make use of the zero fee promo.
You'd have to be selling something that would have less than $10 in fees for it to be not worth making use of the zero fee offer.

      • Actually, that's a good idea. So, if I sub to eBay Plus for a month for $5, will I get 5 items at zero fees?

And cancel Plus after the sale, which is usually a 10 day auction for my items… genuine question.

        • +2

Yeah but you'll have to accept, list and sell the items before the 31st

          • @[Deactivated]: If it's like all the other variable fee deals, they can still be sold in the following month, just need to be listed by the 31st.

            • @MiscOzB: "0% Variable Fee on Next 5 Sales before 31/3"

              • @[Deactivated]: Yeah but as per numerous comments in previous deals (and from personal experience) you still only get charged the $0.30 fee if the item sells the following month (as long as it's not relisted). This 50% off one may be different, can't say for sure yet, but hopefully it's the same.

Edit: This is in the T&Cs for this deal, so should be the same:

Eligible Items will only receive the discounted variable fee until the listing renews, whether by auto-renewal or because the listing is Good ‘Till Cancelled (“GTC”). After this, standard fees will apply.

                • @MiscOzB: All that is saying is that the item will not receive the discount if the listing is relisted/renewed.

"The Promotion entitles Eligible Sellers, who have activated this promotion in accordance with these terms, to 0% variable fees (which is a component of Final Value Fees as defined on eBay.com.au) on 5 sales per Promotion Period on Eligible Listings."

"The promotion runs from 00:00 (AEDT) on 1 March 2023 and ends on 11:59pm (AEDT) 31 March 2023 (“Promotion Period”)."

                    • @MiscOzB: I'm not going to play this game with you.

OP should go based on what is very clearly stated in the Terms. Not based on prior experiences for different promotions. Regardless of the terms being the same or not.

Respectfully, I'm ending this conversation here.
People can risk paying the near 14% fees by following what you say, or guarantee not paying them by following what I say.

                      Goodbye.

                      • @[Deactivated]: Suit yourself then, but it's always been this way (carrying over to the following month), I'm very confident it won't be any different for the 0% on 5 sales deal (and very likely this 50% one too).

Don’t sell on eBay nowadays, heaps scammer buyers to chargeback. And eBay won’t support you if they choose ‘item not as described’. Ps: yes if you want to get freebie, use that to get freebie from eBay, your bank will always side with you.

    • In the case of a chargeback and you already sending the item, you ae protected by seller protection.

ie: Ebay will refund it on your behalf.

      • Have been selling on eBay ten years and now decided to stop as since the interest rate rocketed from end of last year. The chargebacks increased dramatically. Also not everytime you sent the item eBay will side you. As I mentioned if the buyer claimed the item ‘not as described’ with their chargebacks, eBay wont look after you at all. They will ask you to seek help from local law enforcement which is hilarious. Lol.
Anyway good luck selling on eBay now.

I haven't got a single charge back in my 5 years selling on ebay.

          • +1

@[Deactivated]: I've had 3 in the last 2 years and none before that. They were only low value things. One was sent tracked, so ebay let me keep the money on that one. The other two I lost about $5 in stamps and cost of goods, but I got to add 3 confirmed theives to my block list, so they can't steal from me again.

Funny thing is they could have just said they didn't get it, but instead went the chargeback route.

In my experience, 99.9% of buyers are good people. The bad eggs are few and far between.

Also, have you ever seen these 5 x free listing or 50% off fvf promotions came out regularly like recently last a few years? That’s another indicator which ebay is not as good as before, less people selling there now.

        • If I recall correctly, several years ago, before 3x and 5x free listing promos, there were often promos for no selling fees without listing limits.
But I would not publicise the scam that worked, if I were you. That would only encourage more scammers…

          • @Buy2Much: Yep, they used to have no limit zero fee promos.
Also, ebay makes billions a year, pretty sure they can afford these promos.

They used to have 2 free listings a month every month through Gumtree. That was a great deal for non-frequent sellers. Not sure why they ended it… maybe too many people were taking advantage of it and it wasn't making them enough money?

    • Good post mate, teach people how to scam. Great.

FeeBay really needs to do something about it. Any buyer doing that should be banned. In the past, feeBay CSR had no idea how that works (because another company is also involved in the entire transaction) and had the nerve to tell me seller is covered. Without disclosing details (not to "teach" people), that other company is still involved in most of the cases.

The most frustrating thing for me is that I have no issue with people wanting to return the item and get a full refund. I am willing to fund the return postage, but send the item back to me. That other company and FeeBay simply don't give a damn. Some items are very risky to sell on feeBay. Either heaps of scammers eyeing for those items so some people, when changed their mind after the purchase, can really turn nasty.

Ebay should at least allow negative feedbacks on buyers as well.

          • -2

            @Buy2Much: They do.

            • @Canberralad92: Are you sure, I don't see the neg option?

            • @Canberralad92: They don't. I could only leave negative comment but have to give positive scores.

              • @tajid: Not allowed to do that either, unfortunately. I know lots of people do, but if the buyer reports you, you're in trouble.

Can someone please tell me, does this mean the final fee I pay ebay after sale is discounted by 50%?

    • Is that not what the title says?

It's just the variable fee. There is a fixed fee of $0.30.

  • +11

DO NOT activate this yet until you’ve finished the 5 free listings promo. It may override… and I’d rather pay $0 than 50% off

    • Yeah I have 1 free listing left, wondering if this will replace it if I activate.

      • +2

Very recently I had a $0 variable fee promo. I activated a $1 promo and the $1 promo replaced the $0 promo

    • damn too late

      • bugger… also too late :(

Has anyone ever successfully appealed being charged with an active $0 promo and an active not free promo?

    • +1

Wasn’t an issue for me - just sold something tonight with both activated and it didn’t charge me the variable fee.

    • +3

I CAN CONFIRM it goes through the 5 free listings first - sold an item last night, had both promos active

      • Likewise

  • Can someone confirm, if i'm no longer a plus member and I decide to join ebay plus for $4.99 will I be to see the zero fees FVF offer that is currently running straight away? Or is it still targeted to some users?

    • I'm pretty sure its all ebay plus members.
Worked on 3 accounts for me.

  • -2

There are no 5 or 3 free variable fee this month right? So this is better than nothing I guess?

  • Thanks. Worked for me. This will help as I have been selling some stuff lately.

  • targeted?

"Unfortunately, this promotional offer isn't available to you."

  • So i want to sell my phone thru ebay. I can create new account for selling and do i need to pay variable fees if i am able to sell the item? Is it 50% discount on fees or free for first 5 item?
