  • dinosaur it maybe, but i had this laptop for 7 yrs, and it's still rock solid :)
    Just bought a XPS17 recently, it's great!

    • I'm actually thinking of downgrading my studio xps for this due to it only lasting 1:30 hours. I remember these lasting 3+ hours brand new :) Definitely rock solid laptop, served me well for 5+ years

    • Totally agree with that mate. I have been using mine for 5 years now. no problem at all except for the battery which lasts only for 2 years. I am in need of a battery but what a bummer I missed it.

    should we ozbargain them again?

    LOL

    • given its dinosaur age of tech, i doubt it :P

      Please be gentle… :)

      • Dell is everywhere omg!

Who knows guys, seeing as it's in the $9 range, we might get a second/third battery showing up after a week or two ;)

  • Edit: Sorry comment removed as it was inaccruate. :-)

  • Awesome - my 6400 is still in daily use.

The only thing wrong with mine is the speakers no longer work - but it did get VERY wet when that happened, so I can forgive it.

  • How do you know it's for 6400?

    • Click on <Compatibility> icon…
"This product is compatible with the following systems:
      Inspiron 1501
      Inspiron 6400
      Latitude 131L
      Vostro 1000"

      • Thanks, just ordered 1.

  • How old would these batteries be? They have a certain lifespan, right?

    • You would at least get 1 year warranty, i would have thought.

  • Anyone got the direct link? Can't access it via the ad link from work.

    Nvm, found it here: http://accessories.ap.dell.com/sna/category.aspx?c=au&l=en&s…

  • guessing it can't be used for the inspiron 1525 :(

  • Ordered. Perfect, need a new battery for my 1501 and was going to go with the one of the non brand ebay types. Recently reformatted the hard drive and it remains ideal for my basic home use. internet (no games), watch DVDs, word processing etc. $10 delivered, superb!

  • You could buy a heap of these and rip out the cells and leverage a protection circuit to power all manner of things - electric bike etc.

    • Why rip them out? You could use the existing charge/protect circuit.
It looks like there is info online on the pinouts. Still need to open them up I suppose.

I think I will buy a couple to power the robot I am building "for the kids".
      ( R2D2 - slightly easier than a C3P0 :-)

You could get, say, ten packs to power an electric bike, but laptop cells are not ideal. You want something with higher peak power. Same for power tools.

Why does Dell call it a "Primary" battery? That means it is non-rechargeable, which I doubt.

      • I think primary because these model can have a secondary battery in place of the optical drive.

  • any ideas what capacity these are? mah?

  • sold out

  • This thing is gone…saw it just a while ago…tried purchasing, click submit.. then its gone…just in a matter of few secs….wtf?

  • Damn, appears it has been oz-bargained… I actually have one of these that is good enough except for the fact it has to run on power because the battery is dead!

Any one pick up a few and want to send one my way??

  • looks like all gone?

  • I hope I didn't post this up too early, I'm still waiting for my order to be accepted :(. I bet they're going to email me saying theres no stock.

    • Damn, me too.
I should have learned by now not to deal with Dell "bargains". Too many problems.

  • I need one too. I guess I have to go back to the ebay for the fake ones.

  • Damn I missed this!! Need a new battery for my 6-year old 6400 (and it's still working great), can't believe it got ozbargained so quickly…

    • I don't think anybody got one. Anyone got an order confirmation?

  • Got the battery today. Looks like manufactured in 2009, and maybe refurb.

    • Got mine too now, despite lack of confirmation email, or anything in my Dell account online.
The battery is dated 2012.07 - nice! Date is on the white lable, under the barcode.
