  • Showing at $99.99 on eBay for me

    • There is a coupon code.

    • please use code ebay promo code MARC202310

  • Can you confirm if this case only has the one 3.5 inch bay?

    • yes it does , its mentioned on the listing under storage options , plus updated deal here as well

      • Thanks mate! Do you have anything with more bays? Ideally at least 4.

        • SFF models wont have 4 bays , u will need a workstation .

        • Most SFF systems wont fit 4 3.5 drives, some dont even have 4 sata headers internally. I have made a HP sff into a 4 drive NAS box but I had to attach one of the drives to the lid & replace the 5.25 CD drive with a 3.5 adapter to make it all fit.

          It was this model.

        • @Bambalam just buy a 4 bay USB enclosure and plug it in to a USB 3 port - the drives don't need to go inside the chassis πŸ‘Œ

  • Purchased! Great price and these machines are heaps of fun and upgradable to a certain degree…

  • Why is the 500GB HDD storage option cheaper than the 256GB HDD

    • +1

256 is SSD , updated typo on the deal

  • Probably a stupid question but these aren't likely to have M.2 ports, right? I have a spare M.2 SSD floating around

    • +1

correct these SFF dont have m.2 ports

  • Perfect for running xpenology as I'm doing that very thing. Although I dropped the mobo into a different case that can accommodate more drives.

    • Was thinking of doing the same - which case did you go for?

      • I threw it into a Thermaltake H24. Have a look at this old post and the convo between myself and others on getting it transferred.

        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/426657

Since doing it I have had no issues and the case and original PC have been flawless in providing Synology capability.

  • Is the 7060 Micro an older or newer CPU as seen in this deal: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/751847
This deal got 188 votes so I'm assuming it's a MUCH better PC? I see the CPU is gen 8 versus gen 4 in this deal. Apparently there was big strides made in gen 7 and above. I want to buy some to donate to a primary school in Philippines but not sure what's the best option - should I get this or wait for a better deal?

    • +3

Wait, 4th gen is pure ewaste at this point and age.

      • +3

Not at all. It is a question of need and price. I still run one of these with 16GB of RAM. I don't game on it though.

        • +3

Nar too old. Life wont be too long. No updated windows 11 or beyond. Software hardware requirements (better for schools, less limit for them) newer and less use. Should last longer. Might suit some cases for now, but future and it being worth sending overseas to help people not to break down a year later. I would go newer for sure. Ddr4 sbould be bare minimum now, just for replacement repair costs.

          • +1

@AIbot: I wouldn't have thought it would be worth sending old computers from Australia in the first place due to the freight costs. It would be cheaper to buy locally or elsewhere in Asia.

There are also plenty of other applications based on Linux. These systems have plenty of life in them. It is more a question of value for money and the use case. If I needed to replace my current machine, would I replace it with one of these? Probably not. While DDR4 is important, I think having a bootable NVMe drive is probably just as important now.

      • Nonsense. I have one of these for games, with SSD and GPU as the poster suggested. Still works great.

The 7060 micro is a great office machine, but no slot for GPU.

    • +1

Yes 8th gen was a game changer due to cores going from 4 to 6

      Gen 4 - 7 all have 4 cores for i5

    • +4

      Intel Core i5-4570
Launch Date Q2'13 (10 years old)
Not much life left in that silicone. No point sending another country and kids that really need a good computer our ewaste.
Also comes with no HDD, so you have to factor in getting a SSD/HDD and installing it. Not worth it.
Go for 8th Gen or higher only. I would say buy even better then 8th Gen if you can, so the PC you send will last a while and give many kids help, rather then it last a year or two and be super slow and provide them with more waste that they don't need. Better for your money and them to send something that will continue to work for a longer time and perform a lot better.

I'm not sure what you're expecting here mate. That one costs 2.5x more. it's also a T model, which is the low power version of the CPU. Yes, it'll still be much faster than the 4th gen quad core in this box, but it's not nearly as fast as a proper 8th gen hex core either. Did I mention the cost difference?

      • Yes, thanks for confirming and repeating what I said, i.e. newer gen is faster and more expensive so overall it's best to wait for a better deal (like others have said)

        • ? No? I didn't do that? I said that it's a T model, which means that it isn't as big of a difference as you would think. Besides, for a primary school this type of machine is fine. They're not exactly running autocad or Blender.

          • @Grazz989: Ah ok, gotcha.. didn't know about the T model thing. So you think this machine is fine for primary school use? I'll get the 128GB SSD version

  • +3

This one is Windows XP compatible, making for a nice Retro Gaming PC! Add a low profile graphics card and off you go.

    • I've set a few of these up running Batocera. With a 1050ti this can easily play all retro consoles, MAME, and consoles up to WiiU, Xbox 360 and PS3 without issue. Recommend using SSD. I have mine set up with about 10k games from all generations, plus Sinden Lightgun and Guitar Hero (all consoles and World Tour Deluxe).

      • 1050Ti is actually quite a "high end" card for SSF and pushing the power requirements. It will also struggle with modern games and isn't XP compatible. But it will do ok for older games.

        • No problems here regarding power, and the use case outlined is pretty clear it’s certainly not used for modern gaming.

  • Great price if you don't care for power consumption vs performance.

  • Looks good. Can it fit a full size gpu? Nothing fancy just an old Nvidia card for low end gaming.

    • +2

Half height and low power only. It only has a 250W to 300W power supply and not a huge amount of air flow.

    • +1

no, but the lowest low profile GPU u can get is 1650 ddr6 which is enough for low end gaming

    • Define low end gaming?

    • With a rotary tool, anything is possible

    • +1

Can it fit a full size gpu? Nothing fancy just an old Nvidia card for low end gaming.

It can barely fit the lowest profile GPU you can possibly find, and it's about 10 years old.

If you want to do basic gaming then look for something more modern in a larger form factor - there's been heaps posted on OzBargain in the past few months.

    • @davidbowieisalive check out the $888 option in this deal - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/758006 - that's an awesome spec for a basic gaming machine πŸ‘

      • Thanks man. I already picked up a second hand gaming rig yesterday πŸ™‚

  • Thanks OP bought 4, with codes it came down to $79ea delivered

    • Not sure why I got downvoted, it's a great starting point for a lab
