      Plenty of feedback - https://www.amazon.co.jp/sp?language=en&ie=UTF8&seller=A1IA3…

Translation: Feng Xue Li alias suomole is an enterprising business person who has delivered a container of Thermalright coolers to the Amazon AU warehouse and begun selling them for reasonable prices, smashing a market flooded with overpriced coolers from Noctua and co

"93% positive in the last 12 months (14 ratings)"

        • +1

Phantom Spirit received today, box and contents in perfect condition
Security tags on box and fans all legit
OG Thermalright has just joined the chat and perma banned Noctua, Be Quiet and Cooler Master

    • My order just shipped, so it seems like this seller is legit.

    • Ordered this, it shipped and was delivered the next day, no issues with the seller

I really wish more brands does a more streamlined appearance on their air cooler so that the heatpipe tips dont stick out, like those arctic freezer ones or the cooler master wraith.

with that said who am i to complain at this price.

    • +1

Can 3d print a shroud to cover the pointy bits.

      • +7

;( do i look like im smart enough to do so

          • +6

@Dsiee: its not as simple as just learn 3d modelling is it :( i dunno about you but i aint just gonna drop several hundred bucks on a 3d printer when i have no knowledge in 3d printing yet. seems a rather expensive hobby to pick up

maybe when some cheap printer gets under a hundred bucks on aliexpress i will give it a thought

            • -2

@Brrrrt: It is that simple. Just use one of the many print to order services or try your local library.

          • +8

@Dsiee: Why be so aggressive? You'd be fun at parties…

    • +1

With a cover to make it look nicer it actually blocks the top fins and some of the hot air from getting out, which will inevitably negatively impact the cooler performance.
Most people probably won't want it

  • +1

Note: The white cooler linked in the post is not the SE version of the PA (SE version is 2mm lower in height, which might affect compatibility with some SFF cases)

    Thanks OP, bought one :)

  • Can this handle 13900k or 7950x

    • Prolly stock or eco-mode. if you're spending that kinda money on a CPU, better off getting a better cooler. I think even the Arctic 420 AIO struggle to cool Intel/AMDs finest…

      • +2

        I don't like aio

        • +3

if ur just gaming itll handle it but if ur just gaming grab a 7600 or 13600k instead, itll handle a 7950x fine

    • Surely a highly-rated big dual fan cooler like this is more than "enough" for any high-end CPU, as in it will be sufficient for safe temps in any normal use conditions. Unless you want some kind of extreme silent overclocking…?

      • +1

Maybe 140 dual tower coolers, but it really depends on your cooling setup.

      • +2

I reckon you'd be surprised. I have an Intel 10900KF here, several generations out of date, with a Noctua D15 on it. It's still limited by the thermal performance of the fan. In other words, if I wanted more CPU grunt, I could get it with better cooling (i.e. going to water).

I can only imagine with the performance gains AMD and Intel have made in the last couple of generations, that would be even more the case now!

    • Sure can for 7950x, for 13900k it should be able to cover normal usage cases, just not for overclocking

  • +3

good price for a twin tower … just I don't feel like to touch my motherboard yet

  • +2

What are the differences between this and the peerless assassin in terms of performance? Was thinking about getting the PA for my 12600k until it went out of stock. You guys reckon It has good headroom for future gen CPUs?

    • +4

I'm just comparing the spec sheets.

Phantom Spirit has a 5.6% increased maximum rated TDP (280W vs 265W), at 8% extra cost ($53.90 vs $49.90). It is also heavier, but not as long (by quite a bit I'd say at 11cm vs 13.5cm) vs the Peerless Assassin.
Overall you are paying a little bit extra for increased efficiency. The PS has a smaller footprint but a slightly higher heat tolerance. They are both from the same manufacturer, so you can hopefully assume they use the same process to calculate the TDP.

Who here has reviewed or is familiar with TDP trends for CPUs? I could look it up but I've spent a long time on a small amount of information already. This should be plenty good, however, for your 12600K. I was aiming for 200W TPD when I bought mine for some slight OC, but I have yet to do any so I don't have numbers.

    • +1

There is slightly more memory clearance on this model. (6mm more) and the bottom of the fin stack finishes 9mm higher vs the peerless assassin
The Fin density of the Peerless spirit is slightly higher when using the fan clips as reference hence the higher power rating. Low fin density is better for silence, higher is better for high fan speeds

    • +2

You can’t get good cooking performance under 120mm. Ideally you need 140mm fans.

This is a pretty abstract requirement. Maybe CFM would express this better

  • Any recommendations for a silent / noiseless fan?

    • +3

Doesn't exist. Going with bigger fans decreases perceptible noise but if it moves, it isn't silent.

      • A passive cooler can be noiseless though not a fan

        • But it does this by not really doing a lot of cooling! And you still need case fans to get the heat out of the chassis.

          • @Nom: Yea not worth it yet with the price in terms of cooling i.e. NH-P1 can only handle something under 100w heat load by this review

It gets hot at high loads just like our fanless phones do. Hope to see they do more to bring it to the market

    • +2

The system is only as quiet at the noisiest part, which is usually the graphics card under load. Go with a low-noise well-performing cooler that doesn't have to ramp up and it'll probably blend in with PSU and case fans.

From the limited reviews, the Peerless Assassin is very quiet and the Phantom Spirit is fairly quiet with great performance (ie would probably do well with an adjusted fan curve).

    • +1

Get a big tower cooler like this one and splice the fans to 5V rail instead.

    • +2

      BeSilent’s Dark Rock 4

    • +1

Phanteks T30 is the king, would be noisy if used in between the stacks though.

  • +3

This is a pretty highly regarded air cooler. I got one for 87 bucks from amazon US

Its HUGE and its quiet and it keeps my 5800x3d which is a known hot chip idling at 34 degrees just now.

    Grab one!

Actually scratch that I got the previous peerless assassin, not this one.

Any suggestion for TPG Sagemcom 5866 5G router, it get hot here in Brisbnae. I was looking for https://www.amazon.com.au/Computer-Cooler-Cooling-Highspeed-… . not sure if this is going to keep the router cool.

    • I just use a cheap laptop cooler and power it with USB from the router.

  • Great deal. Been eyeing off the Peerless Assassin for a deal, and now this comes out at this price. Winner.

  • Will this fit in an NZXT H1 V2? Thinking of grabbing as a spare in case the pump on the AIO poops itself.

    • I would think so. You would have to check first.

The issue is ram clearance or even pce-i clearance in that case. These things are wide as well as high

  • I bought a singular Noctua fan the other day for $35. Seems pretty silly compared to this, gotta be a record for dual air coolers, it has to be good value, just the size of the thing, as long as the fans don't break in 2 seconds (or are loud at any speed) great deal.

  • Anyone know how this would compare to a Mugen 5 for a 5800x3d?

  • Some of these say $52.90 now.

  • +1

Damn, if only the Silver Soul 135 was in the mix, difficult to find in Aus/pricey.

    • Just get it from US Amazon https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B09DSZFJCN

      • hrmm, about $20 less than when I last checked. Cheers.

        • I only just saw the socket compatibility, you might want to double check before buying. The grey one doesn't list 1700 or AM5 compatibility but it might just be an outdated description.

    Small review:
    Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120 SE - http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?298207-Th…

  • when the cooler says 280 watts, does that mean you have to accommodate for an extra 280 watts in the Power supply? that would be quite restrictive for like a 700W PSU right?

    • The CPU cooler's wattage rating is referring to the CPU's power dissipation. It's not related to PSU's wattage.

      • thanks, do you generally need to be concerned about compatibility with PSU then?

        • +1

Not at all - the heatsink and fan will have minimal impact.

Just make sure you've done your calcs based on your current CPU & GPU (which typically cover 90% of your power usage on most systems) to ensure their peak wattage is covered by your PSU.

Unless you've got a high-end graphics card and thermal oven of a CPU, 700w is typically ample for all but the best spec'ed enthusiast-class rigs.

    • Good to hear.

Any reason you went for the Peerless Assassin over the Phantom Spirit?

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JkBSS3qtRcY

Can’t wait to see some reviews for the Phantom Spirit and see how it compares…
