Is it wise to use this as cold storage of 4k and 8k videos such as from gopro, insta360 etc?
For example, do the editing on main PC but then leave all the RAW unedited on this HDD?
You can drastically cut down that 25gb with x265
True. Even more so with AV1.
Yep im re downloading all the distro to x265 now. So good.
I like the way this guy distos.
The ROI is based on without having a backup drive. Double the time if buying a backup drive. Still, break even point in 3.2 years - 6.4 years depending on cancellation of 2 or 1 4K subscriptions.
love me some weeks' worth of 4K neighbour footage movi… I mean Linux Distros
Googled "4K neighbour footage". Wasn't what I was expecting.
Is 25 per tb good?
It's not bad. Great deal is anything less than 20, normal prices are usually 30+
Wish this was WD.
Wish this was SSD xD

If you want 28TB then this is a better deal per TB. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DW92YSB6.
It's around $22/TB if you avoid Amazon's currency converter and have no fees on your credit card.
No stock at Amazon, there's only "Sold by QuickDealStore" right now.
this is the best price of seen in two years, is this legit?
or another case of too good to be true?
Not many HDD deals ATM. I don't need 20TB or want to spend $499. I just need 2-4TB. Hopefully some deals start coming up.
If it's for video, could look into Tdarr to encode your library as HVEC
is this CMR or SMR?
Pity that the Xbox Series X can't read a drive this size.
Around 720 x 4K Linux Distros if you keep it at 25GB each (After NTFS Format). Which equates to 69 cents per mov…I mean Linux Distro. You will need a backup drive so add another 69 cents. Total cost per 4K Linux Disto would cost $1.38 per movi…I mean Linux Distro. Then equate a NAS and electricity costs to run the NAS per year. ROI will take around 1.6 years if you cancel subscription to 2 Linux Distro streaming services. Or ROI around 3.2 years if you cancel subscription to 1 Linux Distro streaming services. Decent high yield investment.
