  After some advice for what telescopic rod and reel would be good for a beginner and standard pier fishing?

    Don't get a telescopic they are generally shit. Get a three piece if you're concerned about convienence for travel. Cheap fibreglass rod + the budget Shimano sienna reel is sufficient for pier fishing. Line and gear is seperate get from aliexpress or eBay if you don't mind the wait.

    I've not used these rods, but these two have the kind of specs you'd be after:
    DAM Effzett Impulse Spin 2.05m (7-21g) 1-4kg
    Balzer MK IM-8 Perch Sportster 2.40m (5-20g) 1-4kg

    I'm not seeing any 1500-2500sz reels though
