Waited for samsung S23 release but didn't see any significant difference or good launch specials. I have used Xiaomi phones before but never spent more than 500 on a Xiaomi. This time, went with Xiaomi 12T Pro (12GB/256GB version) for $925. Couldn't be happier. Gen 8+1 processor is very fast (compared to my S21).

@abs898: Got both a S21+ and Z Flip3 about a year after their release for ~500 each so it's really not that hard of a discount to get. Also isn't the whole point of Ozbargain the "discounts and everything"?

I agree there are a lot of loophole ways and extra discounts that will bring the cost down. I have been using it each year.
@abs898: Ok that's fair enough but I'd argue that Samsung Rewards isn't exactly cashback since you can't withdraw it as cash (to my knowledge). Still a good deal though if you have the patience left to deal with Marketplace so congrats on your s23 Ultra.

8G2 is a substantial step up from 8G1, it’s now made by TSMC so less overheating and more power efficient. I wouldn’t upgrade for only raw performance boost, unless the current phone is struggling to keep up.
Oh thanks mate. Maybe I got it confused and what I was reading was an older comment. So what I'm understanding is that its actually this year it has the better chip with the 8G2 upgrade. I think the 8G1 to 8G2 was the upgrade I was thinking of/remembering reading.

It's a discount if you have access to a government/education or corporate portal - so i wouldnt say it's a price drop.
If this doesn't qualify for trade in bonus then is a little more expensive then it was at release if you had an old phone to trade.
Maybe just not many people get lured to upgrade from S22U?

S20 series has at least 12GB RAM even for 128G model. Just cannot understand why they bring 8GB RAM back later.

The S21 Ultra has 12gb standard with 16gb on the higher capacity models. Can't get 16gb in the S23 though. I'll wait for the S23 Ultra+ or whatever refresh they release with the extra ram.

@Exec-Matrix: I personally have a lot of things stored on my phone like docs, games, roms etc. not to mention taking photos and 4K video etc that basically eats up the storage quite a bit. Sure.. Can have these transferred out, but not the same as having them as accessible on the device when needed. External readers are a bit of a joke when you're trying to carry it around.

I love the Note Plus and Ultra range since from the Note 9 series (had Note 8 too), though one annoying thing I dont like now how Samsung keeps changing the side the s-pen holder is placed in, from left to right and vice versa they keep swapping the holder position over when new model phone comes out usually every year but not always the case, the swapping over i noticed started happening with the Note 20 Ultra range being on the left side like the s22 and s23 ultra range, Note 8, 9 and 10 the holder is on the right side which I prefer, usually I buy secondhand Note/Ultra phones to save on price but the S24 Ultra im planning to buy brand new next year and I presume the s-pen holder should be on the right side being the right side for me lolz
The pen location I can deal with as I don't use it particularly often. The buttons location is more of a pain, it's different every generation, and different if I use the wife's phone to my phone…

8gb ram kills the deal. 8gb is what you'd expect in a mid-range phone, not a $1500 handset.

Not when you're running at a res of 3088x1440 at 120hz with home screens full of widgets and multiple apps running in the background. It will be still be fast, but not optimally so.
