Consider yourself lucky then !
Waited for samsung S23 release but didn't see any significant difference or good launch specials. I have used Xiaomi phones before but never spent more than 500 on a Xiaomi. This time, went with Xiaomi 12T Pro (12GB/256GB version) for $925. Couldn't be happier. Gen 8+1 processor is very fast (compared to my S21).
Well that aged well imao
The drop is too fast and we shall HODL
waiting for S24 for this to go down… just had to say it ;)
Noice. Seriously I like even numbers more. So I got to wait.
I am waiting for s25 for the s24 and s23 to be obsolete tbh…
@cloudie9: I'm almost at the point of pulling the trigger on a nokia 3210. I think it's almost obsolete enough now
@ialam99: Nokia's will never be obsolete
It was cheaper during pre-order.
Where was that? Thought this is the cheapest so far?
Check post from abs898 below. There was heaps of similar deals direct from Samsung and also Jbhifi.
Most of these deals were posted on ozb.
I got my s21 ultra for $400 outright but i don't imagine it will go that low
How and when lol?
Around when it came out samsung had a glitch was like quadruple discounted
@michael9865: You should have posted it here.
@HeyHi: How do you think i found out, someone did post it and i bought it thanks to them
Same on epp store
Still waiting for the next sub-1k s22 ultra trade in deal..
The lowest s21 ultra went was 999 in 2022 for a very short time. So I doubt s22 is doing down anytime soon
S22 ultra already hit sub-1k in December - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/747550
That was after all discounts and everything. I just bought s23 ultra that way for 1200.
@abs898: Got both a S21+ and Z Flip3 about a year after their release for ~500 each so it's really not that hard of a discount to get. Also isn't the whole point of Ozbargain the "discounts and everything"?
Care to share how you got the s23 ultra down to 1.2k?
Care to share how you got the s23 ultra down to 1.2k?
Surely it's fairly easy to figure that out yourself given the deals have been posted on OzB. He didn't claim it was a 1tb or 512gb S23 Ultra either
@rain-e: Paid $1778 for the following:
S23 Ultra 512
Watch 5 44
Samsung gave me buds 2 as a loyality gift
Cashback 160
Samsung rewards 160
Bonus Samsung careNow that I think about it, it actually costed me less than 1200. I sold the watch and headphones for 400.
So 1778-400-160-160, so that's $1378 in upfront cash.
And 320 in cashback.@abs898: how do you do that? I have access to edu/gov portal. But it is only giving me the $200 discount for S23Ultra.
@JayKrisx2: This was a pre-order with a trade-in extra discount, considering I never intended to trade in an actual phone.

@abs898: Winning!
@rain-e: All I was saying is it wasn't a straight up under 1k, s21 ultra was straight up 999.
I agree there are a lot of loophole ways and extra discounts that will bring the cost down. I have been using it each year.
@abs898: Ok that's fair enough but I'd argue that Samsung Rewards isn't exactly cashback since you can't withdraw it as cash (to my knowledge). Still a good deal though if you have the patience left to deal with Marketplace so congrats on your s23 Ultra.
I know you are saying it's not 1k straight up but that's why I mentioned trade in deal in my original comment
@rain-e: Yeah Samsung rewards can't be withdrawn but good for s24 😂
I paid 1819 - 950 (Plan Credit) - 200 (Gift Card) - 20 (Zip Offer) = 649$ for S22 Ultra 256GB on April 2022. This was one of my best deals ever.
https://imgur.com/a/551NxKU
Now I'm waiting for a real S23 deal LOLI paid $600 last year to buy s22 ultra outright and didn't have to deal with any plan.
Dont think so i got a s22 ultra for 600
Whoa, thats quite a drop. Though I feel over $1.2K for a phone was getting steep for me.
Anyone know the reason for the drop? I heard there is a better chip incoming next year so there will be a major change as opposed to these small gradual ones we've been getting. But I have no idea if its true or completely false.small (gradual) step for a man, giant leap for the marketING
There's always a better chip each year.
Snapdragon gen 1 and then gen 2. There will always be something better in the future.Wasn't the case for 8G1/888. They were the worst chips to come out in years.
Doesn't affect the common man who doesn't play games tbh.
Sure slight battery variation but that's about it.
@abs898: Not even slight even in battery department. Thermals make a big impact outside of gaming too but :)
8G2 is a substantial step up from 8G1, it’s now made by TSMC so less overheating and more power efficient. I wouldn’t upgrade for only raw performance boost, unless the current phone is struggling to keep up.
Oh thanks mate. Maybe I got it confused and what I was reading was an older comment. So what I'm understanding is that its actually this year it has the better chip with the 8G2 upgrade. I think the 8G1 to 8G2 was the upgrade I was thinking of/remembering reading.
Have you tested it ?
Not the same thing but https://youtu.be/c1j5p4iNvRM https://youtu.be/s0ukXDnWlTY
It's a discount if you have access to a government/education or corporate portal - so i wouldnt say it's a price drop.
If this doesn't qualify for trade in bonus then is a little more expensive then it was at release if you had an old phone to trade.
Maybe just not many people get lured to upgrade from S22U?
More likely just economics, recession coming, Samsung wants you to buy their phone before you run out of money.
I'm surprised the ultra only has 8gb Ram now, they are cutting costs
Thats only the 256gb model, 512gb/1tb have 12gb ram
S20 series has at least 12GB RAM even for 128G model. Just cannot understand why they bring 8GB RAM back later.
@BennyHe2018: Because software is more efficient in managing apps and utilising ram since then
@MEGASERVE: Plus VRam is a thing
@BennyHe2018: Currently using S21U 16gb.

8gb is fine
my S10 Snapdragon has 8 GB , kinda feels ultra now lol
The S21 Ultra has 12gb standard with 16gb on the higher capacity models. Can't get 16gb in the S23 though. I'll wait for the S23 Ultra+ or whatever refresh they release with the extra ram.
@Agret: Why, what do you need 16gb ram for that 12gb wont suffice?
recession coming
why do people say this you literally have no idea if a recession is coming or not
Reminds me of the saying 'economists have predicted 11 of the past seven recessions ;)
It doesn't matter whether a recession is coming or not. It's expectations that matters in business and financial markets.
https://www.phonearena.com/news/samsung-recession-2023-chip-…
Interesting that the s21 ultra was available with 12 or 16 Gb of ram
They have to drop the price on this.. was ridiculously priced in the first place and they definitely won't move any units tbh.
All based on iPhone ridiculous pricing :(
At least you get more hardware with Samsung (& more universal OS)Plus they removed the SD card since the Note 20 Ultra. Means when I upgrade, I'll have to go the 1TB version. Which is a whole friggin $400 premium on top of the 256GB model.
So sad man..
I don't see the big deal in SD card. Why not buy an external reader and be done with it? It's clearly not coming back.
@Exec-Matrix: I personally have a lot of things stored on my phone like docs, games, roms etc. not to mention taking photos and 4K video etc that basically eats up the storage quite a bit. Sure.. Can have these transferred out, but not the same as having them as accessible on the device when needed. External readers are a bit of a joke when you're trying to carry it around.
No one wants 8G RAM, that’s why it is heavily discounted.
512gb is even more discounted, so thats not why..
Only people that are spec whores care
This was the price at launch for the gov portal.
$1599 for 256gb
200 extra trade in credit
$250 accessory bonus
Half price Samsung care (free with BONUSCARE)I love the Note Plus and Ultra range since from the Note 9 series (had Note 8 too), though one annoying thing I dont like now how Samsung keeps changing the side the s-pen holder is placed in, from left to right and vice versa they keep swapping the holder position over when new model phone comes out usually every year but not always the case, the swapping over i noticed started happening with the Note 20 Ultra range being on the left side like the s22 and s23 ultra range, Note 8, 9 and 10 the holder is on the right side which I prefer, usually I buy secondhand Note/Ultra phones to save on price but the S24 Ultra im planning to buy brand new next year and I presume the s-pen holder should be on the right side being the right side for me lolz
The pen location I can deal with as I don't use it particularly often. The buttons location is more of a pain, it's different every generation, and different if I use the wife's phone to my phone…
no deal on edu ?
edit: works as same, $1534
If you are in Vic you can register for the government portal using edumail or education email. Lets you validate for both govt & education ones so you can compare the pricing.
I just tried with my EDU and it doesn't work … no access to GOV portal …
Please enter a valid email address.
Am I not understanding something here? Isn't this pretty much similar to this https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/754483 ?
Why are people celebrating as if this is an amazing deal…?Because that was a good deal that expired, der
because not everyone have an edu account?
Ok megaserve got a point but not everyone have an gov account either
yeah, but I didn't question people for those who celebrating this deal?
8gb ram kills the deal. 8gb is what you'd expect in a mid-range phone, not a $1500 handset.
Would only bother a spec sheet nerd, it's gonna perform great for everyone else
Not when you're running at a res of 3088x1440 at 120hz with home screens full of widgets and multiple apps running in the background. It will be still be fast, but not optimally so.
I can get the govt discount but I'll be damned if I'd pay more than $900 for the S23+ (only need 256) patience is a virtue I guess.
Don't want buds or watches, maybe not even the Samsung cover (does it even come close to Apple support?)Can you use shopback with the goverment website? I can't see it on shopback and when I use that it brings me to the normal samsung website.
I just added the extension to Chrome to get it to work
how do non edu or gov member access the discounts….?
$1.5k seems a good deal at this stage
Well it's a gov/edu discount. You ain't getting in the portals unless you have access to those types of emails.
Waiting on the "My Note 8 is running well, no need to upgrade and will wait another 2 years" kind of comments.
My Lumia 950XL is running well. No need to upgrade. Will wait and see what comes out next year.
Why not wait for 2033?
My S20 is running well, no need to upgrade and will wait another 2 years.
How much is 1TB? Does it have discount?
$2094.40 total
how did you get.1.8k for 1T version?
Add samsung care and buds 2 to the cart their price reduces from the phones price. Even if its only the phone it would cost 2094 might as well get them
@picklerick: i got $2,198 total
s23u + s care + buds pro 2
@wrcboi: Buds pro 2 costs more
I can't seem to get the price to drop to $1534.40
Is there a code or login required to get the discount?
Yeah mate, need login to the government portal
