ExynoTHANKs chipset. Got burned once, never again.

Not worth buying Exynos phones at this price when Mediatek is so good these days.

I am still running a S20 FE Bought 3 of these at around this price and my wife as well as my daughter is running these now (my wife changed from her S20FE which is now falling apart). Both love it, snappy, great screen and good camera (only thing I noticed is the digital zoom of my S20FE is able to go into 30x vs max of 10x of this one).

SOT due to the larger battery is far better than the S20FE (running at the same settings - and they don't game).

Maybe old Exynos units (which I never had) might have issues, but these ones are great.

I still have a brand new A55 which I am going change over from my S20FE. Just haven't got around to find the time to do it but would not hesitate to buy another if I didn't have one.

      • Some S20 FE had Exynos, some had Snapdragon (865). S20 FE 5G had the Snapdragon. Version 1 S20 FE 4G had Exynos, while version 2 had Snapdragon (865). The Snapdragon was far superior in terms of battery life and radio reception. My mum still uses the S20FE 5G hand me down we gave her. It is a excellent phone.

        • Our S20FE 5G are both Snapdragon versions. My wife used hers heavily everyday so battery health is down moderately. Mine is still quite good. I have played with her a55 when I migrated her phone over and frankly the Exynos is a non issue for me. Her SOT time is so good now. She has not complained of a single thing on it. Haven't mentioned about reception issues but will keep an eye out.

Yes I am typing this up on the S20FE. Agree that I can still run with this phone for another 2 years or so, but the a55 would probably satisfy me for another 3 to 5 years.

    $487 at good guys too

    • -1

Only $549 on good guys commercial

      • Click the price check button

        • -1

No price check button on commercial, I was alluding to the fact it should be below $487 on commercial but it's not.

          It does say clearance though

    • +1

$549 but yea comes down to $487 when you click the Price Check button. Thanks.

Great deal, got it at this price at a local costco last year. Probably best budget phone in this price range. Upgradable storage too, no complains on my end

    • +1

Hard to believe $487 is regarded as budget.

Anyway it's cheaper at Bing Lee as mentioned below by BG.

The A56 removes the SD card option which sucks.

  • A56 is out.

Many might not like the chip
Good for those that want expandable storage
    Still has years of updates.

Im in the market for a mid range…but
    Disappointed by 16e pricing
Dont like Exnoyx chip of A56
Phone 3a series still not as refined

Will wait for Pixel 9a…but thats the old modem

    • Same here… I'm looking to spend $500-$750 on a mobile. Hanging out for a good deal, not too keen on the A55.

      • I'm looking to spend $500-$750 on a mobile.

S24 FE? (As looks like all the s24 deals have dried up)

        • Probably still s24 deals to come considering there's plenty of stock

        • I was hoping also to get a smaller screen.
But all the screen are creeping up again.
6.1 have become 6.2 and 6.3 inches for the smaller versions.

    • Sigh, another one bites the dust with the SD card slot.

Probably get an A55 when it gets a bit cheaper than this……

A55 is a really good phone. I was worried about upgrading from my s22. So much better. Ill sticking with this range if it continues to be good value vs galaxy. Coming from a heavy user who loves new tech.

    • Really that good? I'm currently on the Note 20… It's definitely starting to show its age.

      • I would class it as a really good upgrade.

    • +3

Agree. It serves my everyday needs without spending large amounts of money on flagship phones.

$472 at Bing Lee with code PAYPALFRENZY25

I got the so called international version with 12Gb ram and 256Gb internal storage and I can not fault it one bit. Have been using this phone now for a about 6 - 9 months, Was coming from an S21 and much happier with this phone, not one complaint and on top of that I have and Sdcard to boot for photos. Has not had one issue in all my time of using it.

Edit: for those interested I bought the phone here (not associated in any way just a consumer) which was about the cheapest at the time didnt have any problems..

    • And that one probably also has a dual physical Sim + esim. Bummer that they seem to have removed the second Sim slot for Australia

  • Is this dual sim? eSIM?

    There’s multiple a55 models

    • +2

Yes, nano sim and one esim+SD card.

  • I just bought this same phone from JB HI FI. They knocked the price down to $489 if I agreed to buy accidental damage protection for $9.99 a month. I then used the JB HIFI PERKS March Madness "Spend over $300 & Get $30 off with your coupon) (ending tomorrow, 10 March)" at the register to bring it down to $459.

The accident damage protection has 30 days of cooling off. So I will cancel that before the 30 days and get my money back for that.

    Total cost $459.

      oooo.. check you

    • Clever!

  • Solid all rounder, picked this up for kids for Christmas. It performs really well with all they throw at it, decent gaming and battery with 4 major Android updates and 5 years of security updates.

    A56 gets released this month.

  • -1

new A56 has AI which is worthy of a bit extra

  • No wireless charging. Other than that, the perfect midranger
