Acer EB321HQ 31.5in Full HD LCD Monitor $169 @ Kmart

600

Hi Bargain Hunters

I came across this deal on FB and thought worth sharing. Kmart is clearing old stocks and dropping the price for this Acer 32 inch monitor.

Comparing to other retailers, this monitor is selling for 200ish mark, so at $169 for a 32 inch monitor is pretty good. I got one for home office use as specs are standard and not ideal for gaming.

thanks

    32 inch 1080p, 2013 spec

FHD on a 31.5” isn’t going to look great.

    • +2

Yeah I was going to say, the resolution at 31.5 inches is pushing it.
I have a 1440p/2K, 31.5 inch and I have no issues at my viewing distance on a desk.

But 1080p on a 32 inch is basically a common budget TV standard so ideally 2.5m+ viewing distance.

My sister bought one of these, and she loves it, but she's also a regular tech user.
I looked at it myself and if you set your expectations, you'll be fine, in fact it's a relatively good deal.
As a gamer, I wouldn't use it but for every day use, and keeping it far enough from your face, it's decent.

That's good to know, I'm waiting for delivery. Using it for work, mainly for spreadsheets and emails as a 2nd monitor.

      • Jeez how big is your main monitor?

    • +4

Fair, though the 32” Philips 4K that are restocked every so often cost just a bit more.
Granted they are used/refurbished and VA (instead of IPS) but I would 100% recommend the Philips over this

I've been using a 31.5" 1080 monitor for years now and it's fine.

    • +7

If you've never used anything better, it will be fine.
I think a lot of us are spoiled (including myself) after using high resolution displays.
It's hard to go back after that

      • +3

I've used 4k, full hd and wqhd,
To me not much difference in 4k and full hd and i cant even notice a difference in 4k and wqhd

        • +4

Interesting, I suppose it varies from person to person too.
I could easily differentiate between the three on a 32”.

        • +2

That's interesting; I upgraded from WQLD 23" to 4K 27" and noticed a world of difference, especially when dealing with documents.

        • +1

To me not much difference in 4k and full hd

          What scaling are you using?
After using 4k i feel claustrophobic on FHD.

          • +1

            @Presence: i have a 32" 4k and a 32" 2k

            fhd on them is terrible

this is win 10/11 and they have known terrible scaling (still)

          • +2

            @Presence: i struggle going from my 27 1080p to my 26 1440… i can't imagine 4k to 1080

    Probably only good for seniors.

can this be used as a tv? thanks

    • +4

It's got an HDMI port, so grab a fire stick, and you can watch pretty much anything you like (via Kodi, Stremio, TeaTV…).

    • +4

Depends how you use your TV.
It doesn't have a TV tuner or the "smarts" but if you just want to connect a HDMI device, it will work
There doesn't look like there are inbuilt speakers so you'll need to also consider external speakers too

      • +3

thank you all, never thought of the tv speakers!

        • +1

I use a monitor as a TV via the HDMI ports (console and chromecast), but it has a 3.5mm audio out that can connect to a speaker or soundbar. Looking at this monitor on the Acer website, it appears to lack audio out, meaning you would need a HDMI audio extractor which adds to the cost.

  • I bought two of these last month and both had 1 small black dot close to where the taskbar is. It's not a dead pixel on the LCD panel layer but rather some strange bits/dust stuck at the backlight layer. Doesn't bother me too much as can't see them in normal use but some may find it irritating.

    • +1

You didn't get a replacement, still under warranty right?

      • Cant warranty 1 dead pixel.

        • +1

          "It's not a dead pixel….*

"….dust stuck at the backlight layer."

    • I had a spider crawl in between my LCD and what I would describe as the backlight diffuser, so anytime the backlight lit up there was dead spider there. Took me about an hour to get it out but it's gone now at least. Thought of siliconing my TV before I put the back panel back on, but there's holes in it anyway.

    Good for ya gran

  • EGA VGA

  • This was going for 109 at broadway last month, I'm pretty sure they are all sold out everywhere

  • I am currently using a 32' 1080P screen. As long as you don't seat too close, it's hard to notice the pixels. But don't put it side by side to another monitor that has higher pixel density, you will notice the difference instantly. BTW, if you need to process a lot documents on the screen, buy higher resolution, it's definitely worth the extra.

    • How many is a lot? I usually open 4 or 5 excel spreadsheets at a time and alt+tab for viewing

  • +3

I came here for the FHD comments. Didn't disappoint 😂

  • +6

Good price for a big screen. Believe it or not, pixel density isn't always the priority. The people who cry about fhd and 32" have no perspective.

Never seen pc monitors at kmart

    • Got a Xiaomi Mi 34" there in Dec. 2020. Still going strong. Only $450.

    • I have but when you think of pc monitors. Gotta be kmart. Right? Not your local pc store. Heck even officeworks.

  • +1

I use this for WFH. Most of the time it’s okay but this morning I was struggling to make out whether there was a full stop or not due to the size of the pixels. Colours are great however, and it’s also great for Netflix etc.

    • +1

Nobody is buying them? If anything I think it looks smart (good) in the photos.

Could be a cheap display for a streaming box in the bedroom. All you have to do is add a soundbar with HDMI pass through in between the streaming box and Acer and it should all operate on one remote.

  • If you click on the image, you get a wide screen.

  • 1080P looks disgusting at 27", can't imagine it on 31.5" for work use.

  • Sold out almost everywhere. I managed to get one of the last in units online, thanks OP.

Rouse Hill seems to have stock for those interested.

P.S. the resolution is pixelated but there are workarounds. E.g. upscaling using super resolution works wonders.

  • I think this is sold out
