That's a great price for touchscreen and built in stand

Great price! This might be good for a home assistant display. Using a monitor plus raspberry pi or something similar would be better then a tablet to avoid battery swelling (usually tablets don't let you run them with battery removed)

    • Right, I got one and hope to use it for this/mobile work on occasions I don't want to risk my laptop being nicked. Thanks @Clear

    Any deals on non-touchscreen models? (¬ ͜ ͡¬)

    • This guy is a leg-end! Ha!

  • my question is are there touchscreen monitors with usi pen/digital pen support ?

Another no name monitor that will likely go pop with 12 months

It's not popcorn. You don't microwave it.

While not specifically this brand I have 3 other no names lasting well over a year.

Shhh… I spent $350 on a viewsonic that I barely used and can’t sell second hand for $200 because of these damn imports. Yes I’m salty.

  • Anyone know about the quality of this brand? I have just ordered UPerfect non-touch from Amazon. Is this better than UPerfect?

    Decision time.

    Regards

    • No one knows. It’s a lottery.

      • Lol, got your point.

    • +1

Uperfect are on the higher end of budget name portable monitors. You can't go wrong.

      • Nice. Thanks

  • sorry if this is a silly question, but what would the portability be useful for? besides using a raspberry pi or something… And another silly question - if I always used this connected to power, using it as another PC display, would it damage the battery over time?

    • +1

For people who travel for work it's useful with a laptop and you don't exactly want to try and stuff a normal monitor on your bag.

      There's no battery inside.

  • Anyone tried running one of these from a late model phone? Could that plus a bluetooth keyboard be an effective mobile setup?

    • +1

@Horacio , yes, these types of portable monitors can be powered by some of the current generation of phones. For context, I have tried this with Samsung S22 Ultra with the ZSUS monitor , paired it with bluetooth keyboard and used the S22 Ultra screen as the touchpad/trackpad to navigate using Samsung DEX mode.

Things to consider with a setup like that:
      * requires a phone that has usb-c display out and can output a desktop mode (e.g. Samsung DEX, Motorola Ready For, Huawei etc).
      * it is a bit clunky, and not too discreet if you plan to use it in a coffee shop or something.
      * since it is all powered from the phone, it'll be a bit of a drain on the phone battery.

Instead, if you're looking for a portable laptop experience for your phone, you might want to check out things like the UPERFECT UDOCK or NEXDOCK range - they are essentially a portable monitor and keyboard and built-in battery, in a laptop frame so that you simply connect one cable to charge your phone and display the desktop experience from your phone and there is also a keyboard/trackpad.

      • People with moto edge 50 neo - apparently isn't cable display out capable with Smart Connect (previously known as ready For).

It turns on and shows my Samsung S22+'s screen when I plug it in. Albeit phone sized portrait mode. Started DeX and it goes full screen and seems to work fine.

No idea how long it (phone's battery) would last powering the monitor though.

One thing I like about this one over a lot of the others is that the connections are at the back, rather than on the side. So depending on what you've got it plugged into, it could be easier to hide the cable/s. Not a big deal, but just looks neater in my opinion.

EDIT: Too slow! And @viewfinder said it better.

    • Cheers @viewfinder and @MonkDog both! As it happens I have a brand new Samsung phone thanks to Telstra booting all our old phones off, but I hadn't heard of DEX - thanks.

      • since it is all powered from the phone, it'll be a bit of a drain on the phone battery.

On this, I see that "there's two USB-C ports for display and power, PD passthrough charging" - should this mean that I can run power in on the second USB-C port, and it will power both the monitor and the phone? (I wonder how the PD voltage negotiation works in these situations? Maybe just default to 5v or something?)

      • Edit: I just got to the bottom of the Aliexpress reviews and someone says they have done just this (although who knows about PD voltages, but it would be enough for me if it just stopped the phone discharging)

  • Do these require driver support for the touchscreen to work, or does the touch just run through USB as a "mouse"?

I'm chasing something for my Reolink NVR which has simple mouse support via USB.

    • I think they should just run through but I'm curious

  • I get tax $67.07 checkout price, is that the best you can get?

    • +1

I also get USD67.07 (inc GST) via the app
