99 a month? for 24 months? nah mate im good

    • +7

I am waiting for a better plan: $55 a month for 48 months with Optus with free hacker access to your PII included for life!

    • +2

      Plus $399!

  • +3

Good deal but to really make use of that plan I would feel like I should cancel my NBN connection and use this sim only

  • +1

Full Price in title - $2875. or can you cancel?

  • Please fix title show it clearly states this is a 24 month plan

  • +4

Feel like the below might be a better deal. You pay $200 more up front for the phone with the HN deal but $30 a month less for the plan + $250 gift card.

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/754534

    • No gift card here

      • Some HN stores gave away the GC as well. I received one.

        • Oh wow. The rep says no giftcard

          • @dosada: Yeah I got one too. Managed to also apply it at the time to the phone purchase

            • @jay889344: Would you mind sharing a photo of the invoice? Obviously without personal information?

Do you also have free optus sport with it?

              • @dosada: Sorry I don't even know how to share pics on here, but also don't have spare time to edit out personal details etc and anything sensitive.

No - Optus Sport is not free for Optus customers anymore

    • Gift card only comes with the outright purchase of phone without Optus plan.

The Optus 24 month plan has no gift card (unless you got lucky).

Optus is still a better deal without the gift card, you also get additional $10 to $20 per month for 12 months discount off the Optus plan through online chat by asking to cancel (they really want to keep you on).

If you cancel the Optus plan straight away it ends up costing less than $1400 for the 512gb S23 Ultra. Best to do this if you are sticking with a prepaid plan.

  • With contract plan and no gift card.

How is this even a deal?

    • +7

      It's a "deal" - however it certainly isn't a "bargain".

      • +3

        Change website name to OZdeals.com.au

  • Anything for regular s23's?

    • Worse deal.

Same plan, $0 upfront for 128gb regular s23.

      • you can also get the 256GB version for $99 upfront on the same $99 per month plan.

  • +1

How much is the termination fee on this?

  • Been on the fence about these contract deals for the Ultra. My issue is that I have been paying $39 a month through Moose Mobile for the past 6 months on my ZFold 3 and just can't wrap my head around chaining myself to a telco for 24 months at a hundred bucks a month - I also don't need anywhere near that amount of data. I'm keen to upgrade to this phone as I feel it would better suit my purposes than my fold, but I think I'm going to wait for them to drop in price later on and buy it outright.

i'm just waiting for better deals, as I want to leave my S22+ but the trade in value has been shocking this year

      • RIP to the $549 s22 without even needing to send :(

Was expecting almost free upgrades like last year (-$500) and majorly disappointed

      • Have you seen the bonus $500 for trade-in against S23 Ultra currently (if you are on Telstra). Might make it more worthwhile.

  • +1

300GB data a month. Wowee…..I don’t use 100GB in a whole year! Most will pay for that, and not even come close to using it. That’s where Telstra make their money

    • The life of the privileged, WiFi everywhere so you use less than 100GB/year when a hermit not home. How much is your home connection and speed in comparison?

      • +1

Does it matter! I just can't see the point in paying $100 a month on a phone plan.

As I said, the majority don't even go near using that much. Saved a few peers heaps of $ changing to prepaid 12 month plans.

          Different Horses for Different Causes.

        • Yeah but if you use this to replace home internet it's worth. Say your NBN is bad

100g isn't enough per month for most families yet alone a year. But 300g means you can stream pretty much anything you want

A bunch of the money is saved when you factor in that you get an ultra for $399

Then the fact that you won't have to pay FTTN NBN
So it's not a bad replacement as home internet if you also want an s23 ultra

  • +5

Jeez, remember when there weren't nine different versions of every phone and flagships were under $1k? These prices are stupid.

    • +2

There's only the S23/+/Ultra, which has been pretty standard for several generations now.

      • But 4 different storage options for each I think so that makes it anywhere between 9 to 12 different versions and different prices. :)

        • Fair point. Phones have (from the top of my head) always offered multiple storage options as well though. Just an odd thing to go memberberries on imo.

          • @Hinee: Never found it an issue myself but I'm fairly familiar with tech but I wonder what your average Joe would think seeing three different phones and 9 different price tags.

Went the optus/HN route today, S23+ 512gb, 69/mo for 24m with optus. $300 upfront. Was pretty much the best deal I could find for the new phone.
Wish telstra/JB did something similar in price per month for 5g/~100gb data but $99 just doesnt sit well with me.

    • I signed up for the same last week and received a $150 gift card as well. Hope you received the gift card too to make the deal even sweeter

    • Did you get the gift card?

    • +2

I did the $69/12m 100gb plan on Telstra yesterday through TGG. $750 discount, $250 GC, $80 store cash. Paid $1199 up front for the 512GB. Am hoping it's the 12GB RAM and not some dodgy pre order bonus that has an 8GB RAM option. It was the best deal I could find once tax deductions are considered

      • Am hoping the same. I got 20 bucks off per month by talking to live chat last night. No idea when I am getting my mobile but as the store said they have none in stock

        • They called me last night and I collected at 2045. It's the 512/12GB version.
Live chat told me no to a port in discount last night

          • @Juiici: I'm getting updates from good guys and toll that they are going to deliver it. I would much rather pick it up.
I got the port first try. Around 11pm. I said
"I just signed up to the $69 100gb plan at the good guys. The sales rep advised me that I should be able to get a port in bonus for $20 for people that have ported in from another provider"…. He did stuff around authenticating me for 20 mins or so

            • @Belv: @Belv alright I'll give them another go tonight. Grrr delivery

Anyone from Jb HIFI can give insight on when the next deal similar to 69/m for 12m + 500 GC will be?

    • -1

      Some time in future

  • pre order deals were better than this one.

  • If I was to sell a 512gb ultra, what would the going rate be? I can't work out some of the prices on marketplace if they are scams or not

    • Curious as to a 13PM value as well they seem like all scams.. 1200 for a 13PM and free apple watch pfft.. hard to tell what it's worth privately

  • ETC?

  • Hi everyone,

I recently had an issue with SquareTradeUp and I'm hoping to get some advice on what to do next. Here's what happened:

I was looking to purchase the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra from JB Hi-Fi using a promotion that gave an extra 300 trade-in credits and a $250 JB Hi-Fi coupon after purchase. To take advantage of this offer, I decided to trade in my Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 through SquareTradeUp.

However, I encountered several issues with the trade-in process. The customer service representative asked me to provide a photo of the device's IMEI number, which I provided. Then, they asked me to provide additional photos of me holding the device (which I did), and even after sending the pictures, they were not believing that I owned the phone I was trying to trade in. I was also asked to send my phone to them before they would release the eGift card, which would cause me trouble as I could not transfer the contents from my old phone to the new one without a phone, and I would not have been able to use the trade-in credit towards my new phone's price.

I asked them to cancel the trade-in because I already missed the opportunity to get the JB HiFi Deal. They were able to cancel the trade-in process, but they also blocked my SquareTradeUp account and asked me to use email for future trade-ins.

I tried to contact SquareTradeUp support multiple times, but they stopped responding to my emails. I also tried calling SquareTrade, but they told me that SquareTradeUp is a different company.

The most frustrating part of this experience was the lack of clear communication and the feeling that I was being discriminated against for reasons beyond my control. I feel like I've lost out on a good deal and I'm not sure what I can do to make things right. Additionally, I am concerned about using email for future trade-ins as it adds an extra layer of complexity.

I also raised my concerns with JB HiFi, but their support team directed me back to SquareTradeUp.

I'm not sure what to do next. How should I contact a higher authority in SquareTradeUp? Or should I contact an ombudsman to help me with this issue? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.
