  • Looks like the Amazon Fire sticks are on sale everywhere

    I wonder why?

    • Superbowl on Monday. Can't get the app on Google TV

      • +3

        I only watch the commercials.

        They're all on youtube.

  • are these much different (content and performance wise) to a chromecast pro? Considering one for the bedroom tv.

    • -1

I'd get a Google TV instead of this…
      Better compatibility with apps.

  • +5

I got one for free after a massage in phuket

    • I laughed too much at this lol

    • -1

too broke to get one here or what bruz

  • +8

Hold out for firetick 4k deals. They have been around this price.

  • +3

You can get a 4K Max for $39-$49, so this price for the Lite is a bad deal.

    • +2

      yea i got 2x 4k max for $70

      • +2

Me too, they are great. Surprisingly good, I even prefer it over the nvidia shield. Would buy again, highly recommended. Good seller. Jeffrey Bezos A+++

  • 4K Max is currently on sale for $59. do you think is possible to get it between 40-50 soon ?

  • +3

Had lite for 3 months, works great only con is no volume control option in the remote. No luck with alexa command. I always use headphones so not a problem for me, but worth considering if you want to buy for the TV

    • +1

If your TV supports HDMI-CEC, it's likely your TV remote can control the FireTV lite as well, negates the no volume issue.

      • So using 2 remotes instead of one?

        • Standard tv remote arrows buttons to act as passthrough for firestick. So one remote.

          • @markmono: Agree, nice idea…. I use mine for my work monitor…. So no luck for me and you will loose alexa feature of you use your TV remote

  • +1

I bought these last year for 19$ each ..

  • -2

what is the use of these? doesn't everyone have a smart tv at this stage?

    • +1

I side load other apps on my 4K version

    • No native NBA app on Samsung TV's

      • +1

^this. NBA app is the only reason i originally bought it. But now use it for netflix and disney as it runs so much better than the samsung.

    • +1

The apps on the Firestick work better and get updated while on my TV they aren't as good.

    • This is Google TV, so if you have a Samsung smart TV or any other non android smart TV, then no you cannot access android apps, In case you're wondering why others have negged your comment question.

  • I lost the remote control of the HD fire stick, can anyone recommend a good replacement that isn’t the app 😬

    • +1

Amazon sell the remotes standalone too. Or you can pair a PS4 controller via Bluetooth.

      • +1

They do, does anyone have any real world experience with these cheap ones?
My wife’s head will implode if I asks her to figure out A PS4 controller 🤯

    • +1

If your TV or AVR supports HDMI-CEC then you can control your fire stick with the TV/AVR remote, this is exactly what I do for the convenience of using one remote for everything.

      • May have to double check if in fact it has HDMI-cec, I’ve got a cheap Soniq branded better than nothing bedroom TV so it may not have this fancy gimmickry 😬

  • The major downside for me is that the remote app is kinda crap. Can't control volume and can't turn down the TV so I have to use the physical remote. Mines the 4k Max. Unless someone has a way to set up the buttons that I missed

    • This is my worry, I lost my remote while on holidays so In order for my wife to work out the TV I need the same remote, may have to repurchase the same fire stick hd to get the same remote 😳

      • You can still use the normal TV remote for it

    • +1

Are you connected to the right HDMI port? You need to connect to the HDMI-CEC port.
Samsung for example calls this port Anynet+ and LG calls it SimpLink.

      • Yes the CEC works, the physical remote works fine. I'm just referring to the Fire TV app remote that doesn't even have the power or volume buttons. The sleep button just puts the firestick to sleep but my TV is still on.

Just a PITA coz when my kid in the other room leaves, then I have to go and find the remote to turn it off and stuff 😂

  • FireTV while on stand by it make dns request 1000s of time per hour. There is no way to block this because the 8.8.8.8 server is hard coded into it.
