  • Streamed free through 7mate app also. Also if this is only HD does that mean 720p or is it 1080p? Couldn't find on website.

    • Does that have the US commercials though?

      • +23

We cool with paying to watch commercials now, are we?

        • +51

Well they are the most expensive commercials in the world. Plenty are interesting and funny. Many of them get millions of views post super bowl on YouTube. So yes I’d say some people have an interest in them.

          • +8

@flashi007: Well, you can watch the good ones on YouTube later on and a lot of them are overhyped. Watching live means you also need to watch a lot of the boring ones. Some of those US products, I am sure they make perfect sense to all of us.

          • @flashi007:

Usually put up on YouTube for free aren't they? Maybe that has changed, but in past years you could just watch the ad compilations on YouTube.

          Whassup?!

        • -1

Did you read the original post?

          • -5

@TEER3X: So pay $1 to watch US commercials? Really? You have to watch them right away? I don't think all those ads are fantastic. How about the cons?

            Super Bowl Pre-Show

Just like most major sporting event, the boring pre-show. Honestly, watching those ads (due to how expensive they are) is a good marketing hype from US news media to attract non-US viewers. I get why US audience would watch them (coz. they want to watch the Superbowl), but for most of us (not attached to NFL), I'd rather waste time checking OZB for new deals.

            • +1

@netsurfer: "I'd rather waste time checking OZB for new deals"
why not do both? in between plays is enough time I'm sure
              .

            • +5

@netsurfer: You’ll also find that there are a few ads that will be played in a split screen with the game still being played in the background with the game pass stream. Where more than likely if watching through 7mate or ESPN you will be taken to the same repeated ads that will be played through the entire match to do with hair loss or erectile dysfunction. In my opinion having different ads to watch during ad breaks is worth the $1 AUD, and as already stated the money invested in the ads and variety generally make for a more enjoyable viewing experience.

              • +2

@Ohgeelowk: I just don't get what's so special about those ads? I've seen some on youTube. So MasterCard ads or perfume ads (because they paid big $$$ for the spot) all of the sudden become must watch?

Will check GamePass offer. It's just hard for me to enjoy it because I just don't like to watch an entire NFL game. The highlights are okay. Frankly, what do I really gain knowing all those defence types or have great understanding of US ads?

Don't get me wrong, if you are an NFL fan AND you want to watch the game live, sure, go for it. I just don't get the watching ads logic. It feels more fomo on SB ads…. sorry, I just don't get it. All the good ones will be on youTube (and may even be mentioned in the news) so what's the issue? Cannot stand missing out on the not so good ones?

                • +2

@netsurfer: Fair enough mate, I guess this is targeted more towards fans who want the full super bowl experience. I get you on the ads, can’t stand them. But if you watch 7mate or ESPN for sport often, you’ll know the ads between are almost unbearable. I myself am happy to get a bit of variety during the ads for $1.

                  • @Ohgeelowk: Well, as I am not an NFL fan, I obviously didn't know watching the ads is also part of the tradition (sorry, I just cannot stand ads). Frankly, all I am remotely interested is the result and hoping it will be a close game so the highlight will be exciting. Kinda want both teams to win, but there is only 1 winner. Honestly, I don't follow NFL so that wanting both teams to win is more about I found out one team has never won it and the other one hasn't won one for quite some time (apology if that's incorrect).

                    • @netsurfer: Yeah mate you’re correct rams have 1 Super Bowl and the bengals have none. Anyway hope you enjoy the game/highlights!!

        • The only ads I’d actually pay to watch lol

      • -3

If you get this to watch Super Bowl, it makes sense.
If you get this mostly to watch US commercials (even if you hyped them up as Super Bowl commercials), then it is kinda sad.

    • +1

Not sure if anyone replied to you in the last 6 hours as a lot of it went sideways, but HD is normally 720p, FHD is 1080p but I could be wrong and they show it in 1080p

      • I think as time went on people make less and less distinction between HD and FHD when talking about it.

    • +23

You still have time to delete this awful take.

          Check out this guy!

          • -5

@flashi007: Honestly, this is not the game which stops this nation. Are you guys going to be able to prove most of Australians will be watching Super Bowl live on Monday? Can you guys please give me a legit reason that I can go to my boss that shows that I am totally wrong and we MUST all watch Super Bowl live on Monday?

I certainly would like you to answer the following questions:

            1. What's so wrong for me to support the underdog? Am I being negged for every aspect of my comments?
            2. What's so wrong to point out it is $1 because it is the final game. Sure, you "could" re-watch all the games, but if you are truly a fan, you would already watched the ones you wanted to watch.

It's not the $1, it is a few hours of my pay. I surely would love to know why most people can be allowed NOT to work on Super Bowl Monday here. For some reason, that seems very obvious to everyone so please enlighten me.

            • @netsurfer: Is true that Australians can take a day off while they wait for a Rona test?

We just chuck a sickie when required. Its a national tradition. Mass sickie events occur when there's a great OzBargain deal on a workday.

        • -1

@netsurfer are you trolling or are you that self absorbed? Honest answer please….

          • -1

@athk: Why don't you start by explaining what Sheldon said in one of the episodes of TBBT?

they passed against a nickel defense, they should have run it off-tackle.

I don't follow NFL, but one of the Superbowl post game videos where they had the offensive co-ordinator of the winning team talked about the game indicated the defense put nickel defense when they put their running backs in the game. Yet, that worked for the defense. The offensive co-ordinator had to come up with a plan to lure them out of nickel defense.

Obviously, since so many people knows NFL so well, you probably know which Superbowl this is and who that offensive co-oridnator is.

I honestly don't think NFL is something I can pick up that easily. The highlights are pretty good for me so I think I can still enjoy it.

            • @netsurfer: So why are you even posting here? Are you trolling?

Quoting a TV show how unique of you. It’s obvious you’re a really pathetic troll with time on your hands.

Put down the devices and zen out, you’re acting like a clown 🤡

    • +2

Yeah, so you drag your laptop over to the couch and send emails.

      • -7

I don't really care about NFL that much. Probably just watch the highlights. It's a pity there can only be one winner this year. You could root for either team with good reasons (but frankly, I just don't follow NFL and don't really care). Paying $1? I think NFL should just let AU audience watch it free. Honestly, we don't enjoy the game as much (unless you are an American here so you know NFL).

        • +11

You care enough to shit post though.

          • -1

@TEER3X: I just don't get why we need to pay $1 to watch Superbowl. Honestly, I want to get paid to watch Superbowl… LOL…

@netsurfer: I wish someone paid me to read your comments.

        • +1

You can watch it for free

This is to have the US broadcast streamed instead of the (likely awful) Australian broadcast on channel 7. I think it’s also on fox and kayo

  • "without the annoying repetitive ads" How repetitive are the superbowl ads through this paid broadcast?

    • -4

I think if someone pay $0.99 mainly to watch Superbowl ads, then it is sad. If the channel 7 commentators are bad (sorry, no idea, as I don't watch NFL games, only occasional highlights) and you are fan of NFL, I get why you would pay the $0.99.

      • +17

I don't want 2x Adelaide Hills Sparkling Wines for $49 or a Wanderer Double Hammock and Stand for $80 which are also front page deals, but I and many others don't feel the need to go and make a bunch of over generalised, highly assumptive and somewhat irrelevant comments on those posts.

Having an opinion is fine, but one of the reasons your comments are getting negged is because you are acting like you speak for all of us and our opinions match yours, which they don't.

          • +1

@netsurfer: The US super bowl commercials are perhaps in the most expensive advertising spots. So this is usually reflected in the quality of commercial. High.

Yes, some ppl enjoy watching quality commercials.

          • @netsurfer: Why do you keep referring back to "most" people? The most ridiculously random niche stuff gets posted here all the time - if one person benefits then it's worth posting. It shouldn't be surprising to you that there are NFL fans in Australia (and essentially every other country on the planet)

            • @Hinee: Some of you just neg me based on previous comments and then replied by talking about previous comments in the other threads. If you really just read this thread, my first comment was VERY subjective. Yet, the reply to my comment wanted me to address my comments I made in another thread.

I think if someone pay $0.99 mainly to watch Superbowl ads, then it is sad. If the channel 7 commentators are bad (sorry, no idea, as I don't watch NFL games, only occasional highlights) and you are fan of NFL, I get why you would pay the $0.99.

Seriously, if you guys want to neg me on that because something else I wrote previously, then there is nothing I can do about it. I clearly started with "I think" so that's NOT objective at all.

            • -1

@Hinee: I have no issue if you are NFL fans and you live in Australia. I watch NFL highlights.

However, I am cynical that if you are true NFL fans, you would love those commercials. I thought you guys would rather watch what's happening on the side line during the breaks / timeouts, rather than commercials. Having commercials isn't all bad, but personally, I would use that time to grab a drink or some snack or do something else.

I get why some people might be hyped up on those expensive commercials, but I also know the media and broadcasting channels want to remind people that (hoping you will watch them). I just don't see a need to jump on that bandwagon. I get why channel 7 commercials would be inferior coz NFL just isn't very popular there (NFL fans, PLEASE don't get upset). However, I don't watch commercials so honestly I don't care.

I do hope NFL fans do understand some of us (okay, let's assume it is only me) have debt to pay and really have to work. Watching Super Bowl live is just not something I can afford to do (not because of the $1, but if I don't work, I don't get paid).

              • +1

@netsurfer: Are people supposed to feel guilty for watching NFL because you happen to be working Monday morning? Even though you apparently don't care about the NFL?

You make absolutely no sense and if you're after someone to take pity on you for having to work then you'll be sorely disappointed.

      • I've never watched a game before. I'm just wondering when do they screen the ads ie after each score, during breaks, etc and are the same set of ads screened over and over throughout the match.

        • +2

Each 30 sec ad block this year costs a record US$6.5m just to air. There will be no repeated ads during the broadcast.

        • -5

Mostly after each score, (some) timeouts and quarter breaks. There are 2 two minutes warnings at the end of each half. Those are basically for commercials (I think). Don't quote me as I've never watched a full NFL game (actually not even a full quarter ever). After the 2 minutes, depending on the game, it could be quite exciting or boring (depending on the score, which team has the football and the timeout situation on both teams).

Don't go watch the game if you are only interested in the commercials. I really don't get the appeal telling people "I've watched all super bowl commercials live".

    • +9

Nowhere near as repetitive as netsurfer's ignorant replies to everyone.

  • +3

fantastic deal, thanks. can’t speak for 7 but for the last couple of years it’s been a terrible broadcast on kayo with horrible commentators. i’d pay $10 to get the al michaels feed.

    • Does Kayo use the USA commentators or Aussie ones? As I'm stuck between using Kayo or this

      • +2

It was mentioned during the Pro Bowl last week that ESPN Australia (Kayo/ESPN) will have the regular ESPN Monday Night Football crew on commentary just for Australia: Steve Levy, Brian Griese and Louis Riddick (US commentators).
I'm assuming that GamePass will have the NBC commentators from the main US broadcast. I'm not sure what channel 7 is doing.

        • Thanks for that mate - that alone is worth the 1$ haha

        • If it's like previous years, Seven (7mate in WA) will take the feed from the US network (NBC this year).

  • +26

Hey I don't follow NFL. Just posting to say I don't follow NFL at all but feel like I need you all to know this for whatever reason

    • +1

      But do you follow NFL?

    • +1

American Rugby? Australian Rugby? lol…Neither are sports…nor is UFC as it is an MMA league

    • UFC isn’t a sport. It’s entertainment for violent unevolved animals. It has no place in a modern society.

      • Sport is literally a competition between teams or individuals for the purpose of entertainment. MMA is just a violent sport.

Every developed society in history since it's recording has had brutal violence for entertainment. As a modern society now, it still exists. Centuries in the future, it will still continue to exist, in one form or another.

Just because you look down on people such as mixed martial artists, that alone qualifies you as no more evolved than they are.

        • Feeding people to lions and people killing each other was also once considered a sport. Humans, well some of us, have progressed past this dark period.

          • @PainToad: Different people have different tastes. This has nothing to do with progression. It's in our nature as a species to crave bloodsport.

      • I tried to ⌚ evolved homo sapiens play the sport they call Chess.

It nearly 💥 my mind how 💩 boring it was.

        💦 and 🩸 or go 🏡.

  • +7

    Superb Owl.

    • +1

Super Bowl - All you can eat?

  • +1

I love NFL. It's 10 minutes of entertainment stretched out into 4 - 5 hours. That's why people care more about the adverts and half time show.

    • -7

Yeah, same. Quarterbacks kneeling with less than 2 minutes in the game (first half and/or second half) is so cool. A break between every down is so awesome. Great value, great bargain.

    • +3

You have to understand or be familiar with the sport to enjoy the game. I can say the same for cricket and NRL, which I don't watch as I'm not familiar with these sports.

      • +1

Yeah bro, no hate just giving my opinion but if you enjoy it, then why not pay 99c for the best coverage, especially if you’re going to watch and enjoy.

      • -5

NFL is something one needs to understand to fully enjoy it. I only know a tiny bit of it. It is quite strategic. I just don't know enough to enjoy the full game and no friends I know watch NFL so no one can explain to me the details. I just watch the highlights coz. I don't have the ability to spot the defense vs offence details. Sorry, if the commentators said it is a nickel defense and I have zero idea what that is, you cannot expect me to pretend I enjoy the game.

Certainly have zero issue with NFL fans getting this. It's a good deal and I think all the postseason games this year are close games. So, if you are really into NFL, there is certainly value there.

The issue I have is people who don't know NFL, jumping on the bandwagon and trying to use watching Super Bowl commercials as a reason to get this.

        • +3

          Christ, it’s 1 dollar.

        • +2

Who gives a rats what you think people shouldn't or should watch?

        • +1

NFL is something one needs to understand to fully enjoy it.

My wife has no idea what is happening. She loves the atmosphere and the commentary. Its infectious to her so she gets into it and enjoys the spectacle. You don't need to fully understand anything to enjoy it.

  • Can you watch it delayed?

    • +1

Yes. It gives you 30 day access but the ads might be removed from the delayed stream.

  • +2

Thanks OP. I'm not an American but enjoyed watching NFL games.

  • +2

30 days access for $1, great deal considering I can watch games I missed during the season.

    • didn't realise this !

awesome value just for this - might have to take a few days off to take advantage 😜

  • Oh, goody - there is an an NFL app in the LG content store. There isn't an MLB app that's why I'm pleasantly surprised.

Might be no better than the 7Mate Super Bowl coverage but for 99 cents I'll take a punt.

    • +2

It’s broadcast in full HD, so much better than 7mate. This difference between GamePass and commercial TV is stark, and the LG app is great.

If you get into it, make sure you search for a GamePass deal for next season by subscribing via VPN, don’t pay the standard Aussie price.

Watched on hulu live a couple of years ago and was able to get the full US experience. So much better than the pathetic commentary on ESPN and the continual adds for the cash cow, kochie and my kitchen got masterchefed at first sight on channel 7.

Was going to subscribe to peacock premium for a month to get the NBC coverage this year but looks like for 0.99c the NFL app will do the same thing.

Hoping the Bengals win but would be happy if the Rams won instead.

  • Nice, was gonna go to a pub with a mate to watch it but now I can just watch it on my 4K tv and comfy sofa.
