Nothing so far. I'll try call them tomorrow, if no luck Ill go straight to the warranty claim form and submit.
I'm getting pretty bad vibes though so far. The text Ive sent was not even acknowledged.
Also I just found out there are no approved repair shops here in WA. Im starting to get worried to be honest.

    • +2

For anyone interested in this or for whoever may have the same issue, they got back to me. They called me and let me know it's a common issue that happens when you displace a sensor on the bike, and sent me an email with instrucitons (including a video) on how to fix the issue. Here's the email I got:

Please assist in following the below steps, once you have completed these steps please advise on the outcome (I have attached a video and image to assist you in following these steps)

1 - Ensure the bike is turned on
2 - Review the rectangle sensor on the rear stay (As per the video please check to see if this is folded down)
3 - Review the circular magnet on the rear wheel, the magnet will be fitted to the spokes. Check to see if the magnet passes alongside the middle of the sensor with one revolution of the rear wheel.
4 - When the magnet passes the sensor, a red light should appear from the end of the sensor.
5 - Once you have completed these steps, please test ride the bike and advise if the issue is resolved.

If you have further questions please don't hesitate to ask.

I have uploaded the video here : https://youtu.be/v3HyeIFFje8

Still havent tried the fix as Im at work - will check tonight but Im reasonably confident this will solve it. Coincidentally I brought my bike the day before this happened to a mechanic to adjust the brakes (I wanted the levers to be a bit harder) maybe they displaced the sensor when working on the bike…who knows.

      • That's awesome, thanks so much for posting this!
very glad to hear they got back to you.

Also, im guessing this is the part that you want to move in order to reach higher speeds (if you cant unlock in software).

      • Unfortunately this didn't solve my issue :(
The sensor was not displaced and it correctly shows shows the red light when the magnet passes by. I was being too optimistic I guess.
So no luck with that. I'll call them back on Monday.

Update - after several calls to their support number they finally have suggested to bring the bike to their repair centre in Osbourne Park WA to get it fixed under warranty.
      Ill keep you posted.

    • Update - Ive brought my bike ot the n+ headquarter here in Perth today. They said it's going to be an easy fix. Will keep you posted.

      • +1

Update - They already fixed it and Im going to pick it up tomorrow morning! Awesome result!
While there, I will also ask if they can unlock the 32 kph and will let the OzB community know if that's something that can be done at home

        • That would be awesome. It definitely feels like it has more power to give when it cuts out at 25kmh.

          • +1

@theguyrules: yeah 25 is not fast at all, I often get electric scooters to overtake me on the cycling path :\
Hopefully they can help out with that

            • @liongalahad: I can't recall what bike you got. The base one or a higher model?

              • +1

@theguyrules: Yes the Formula E team bike, i.e. the base one.
It's limited ot 25 kph in Australia however the same bike gets to 32 kph in North America. It's the same bike so there must be some way to unlock this speed and I'd imagine it can be done through software in some way. Ill ask the mechanic tomorrow morning.

                • @liongalahad: Awesome fingers crossed. I'm still retuning mine but it'd be cool to know it was possible.

Also they've been fairly good at communicating this past week. Better than they were so I'm sure it'll just keep getting better like you (or another user) said.

                  • @theguyrules: Can I ask why are you returning it? The (four) times I've ride it it was gretat and overall extremely happy with it. And I love looking at it, really pleases the eye. What's not to like?

                    • @liongalahad: Yeah I do like it, I just think it's a bit too "road" bike for me.
I want more like a hybrid/mountain bike with a motor - even if it's not as fancy as this one with its belt drive and CVT.
I also can't mount a child seat to it easily which was part of the reason I wanted it.
My area is very hilly too and while it's good at most hills, when it's too steep for the motor it's impossible for me to get up as the CVT doesn't go low enough and it's heavy.

I'm going to try out some other bikes this weekend and compare.

Final update on this error 28 saga - I have picked up my bike this morning from the n plus headquarters here in Perth (which I haven't realised but it's the worldwide main office).

The n+ mechanic said it was a faulty motor and he said it's extremely rare, he says this is only the 3rd motor he had to replace and that normally they are very reliable and will last long after warranty expires. He's the most helpful and nicest guy you can imagine, he gave me lots of suggestions and insights on how to maintain and improve the bike in the long run, such as buying different tyres, replacing the fork with a carbon one (not as pricey as I would have thought), buy professional downhill plastic pedals, servicing the brakes liquid once a year, buy a torque wrench to keep all the bots with the correct torque etc.

He has advised it's possible to get the bike to run at higher speeds, but it requires both tweaking the software and dismounting the motor, but said it's not a service N plus can provide (for obvious reasons).

He has also shown me other bikes and prototypes (electric and non electric), it was an extremely interesting visit and gave me a lot of confidence on future support. These guys definitely know what they're doing and there's a reason why Mercedes uses them for their bikes (other F1 teams do too, although they're not shown in their website, I've seen other bikes for other F1 teams today).

      • If the mechanic said 'professional downhill plastic pedals" he doesnt seem to know much since the better flat pedals aren't plastic and pros aren't using plastic ones. Changing brake fluid every year is a bit excessive though, especially for the type of use and people that will buy these bikes. Might just have been advice to try to get you to spend more with them later.

        • maybe he's not an expert of downhill bikes, he was telling me those plastic pedals are light and help also in shock absorbing when your on the pedal..I dont know much either tbh.
All the stuff he suggest to buy are not sold by n+
For the brake fluid, he said it's because humidity gets in the fluid and ruins the gaskets etc - he didnt seem to be wanting to selling me anything really, seemed quite nice and genuine

  • Still waiting (patiently and happily) for mine, I just went on a ride and paid attention to speed which I wouldn’t normally look at. 25km/h is fine but 32 would feel a bit safer in traffic. Hopefully we’re able to code up to the US limit. Has anyone had a play with the PAS settings yet?

Tracking received. Excited and a little worried 😊

  • Tracking received, will be a week from now.

Courier is "One World Courier", so check your spam folder.

  • +2

Tracking received with delivery to Maroochydore on 15/3/23 to a bike store I selected. I’m having the bike assembled professionally and checked over and the voltage checked on a volt metre

    • In retrospect I should have done that. Just means I take the box there I guess.

What are they charging for the build?

  • Put your tracking code in here. Mine seems to have pickup booked for Thursday. At least I can stop checking it every ten seconds.

    https://www.tntexpress.com.au/interaction/trackntraceRefResu…

    • No luck here, my tracking is completely empty.

      • Yeah empty in the tracking section but at the top right mine shows a pick up date.

  • +4

Charging $120 to build. Hopefully there will be no any warranty issues, but if there are, they will be picked by a professional and photographed with commentary and cost to rectify to send to N+ bikes.

  • Also just got tracking info today. ETA next week.

  • +1

wohoo got my refund after over a week!! glad I got out of this madness

  • Some updates:

Will Ride said they’re not an N Plus agent anymore. Quoted $300 to build (?!).

Mine seems to have been picked up!

    • You'd hope they are checking over every single part of the bike for that price. Assembly only really requires putting on the stem, kickstand, front wheel, pedals, pump up the tyres and align brake calipers as everything else should be done from the factory. Would be done in 30min max including unboxing and clean up. Even check over other bolts, wheels are true and fine tuning gears wouldn't add on too much time.

      • Yeah I think they might be the Harvey Norman of bike stores. Seem to be located in affluent areas.

    • Not worth it at all, extremely easy to put together, took me half hour tops and Im not an expert at all (haven't owned a bike in 15 years or so)

  • With the bikes hopefully arriving next week, what accessories are people buying?

I bought a few locks from Amazon and a Lumos helmet with mips. Might purchase a softer seat after trying the stock one.

    • I've not bought any locks yet, I have bought the bag/bottle holder that @deal88 bought though.

    • I got a bike lock from wiggles Hiplok ANKR and E-DX Security Bundle and a mips helmet from Costco for $50 in store pretty great value and looks good! Lights and other small things from aliexpress.

      • Great price for a mips helmet!

  • Still waiting for my bike to get assembled but I came across this lovely water bottle holder: https://amzn.asia/d/0UNTwJ2

    • +1

You just need a cage with accessible tabs like this and then a couple of something like these

      • You're not wrong

  • Does anyone know if Spokes in Abbotsford has any to test ride? Has anyone had it assembled by them?

  • Arrived today!

Formula e box is 83x150cm. Need to removed child seat to take it home

  • Mine has been processed twice at Brisbane, so hopefully we are set for today.

    • mine has arrived at the brissy depot today as well. Meant to be delivered today……fingers crossed.

      • Still waiting here but it says by 5pm.

      • Soo the One World Courier tracking now says

        Estimated Delivery 15 Mar 2023 17:00.

However the TNT tracking still says

        ESTIMATED DELIVERY BY
        14/03/2023 17:00

I have no idea what to believe. One World Courier even emailed me and said that it was coming today and if there was delays they'd let me know. I just replied to ask them what's going on.

        • I think the second "processed" in [your city] is being loaded for delivery so fingers crossed you'll get it today.

Mine flipped over to tomorrow as well, then changed back.

          • @DingoBlue: Ah the courier just got back to me and said it'll be tomorrow as it came too late.
            aurgh

  • How's everyone finding the Arrows? Does it meet expectations? What about sizing?

  • Got mine!

  • Have two bikes arrive today. One Silver Arrow and one E-team both size Small.
Haven't had time to open it but look forward to putting it together.

  • If anyone else is confused - front wheel is T30 tightened to 11nm

    • Augh I forgot to get a torque wrench.
      Although, T30 being Torx?

      • Yeah there is an allen key in the box, 11nm is surprising not very tight. Just hand tight without much effort.

There is also a spanner for the pedals! I wish I saw it sooner :)

  • Did everyones come with enough battery for a ride? or am I going to have to charge it and ride tomorrow?

    • +1

They advise you to charge it first (though I don't think that is actually necessary for these cells).

Mine was about 3/4 full. Charging now.

  • First 10 min ride. Okay weird. I think someone else said the assistance isn't as great as they were expecting.

I have to agree. It's not really any easier. It's like I'm riding normal effort and it's giving me a 5-10% boost on top of that.

Maybe the power just compensates for the weight. Maybe I need to try it on a huge hill - that's what I got it for.

Maybe I need to get used to it.

    • Depends on the power mode? One is minimum assistance I think.

    • +1

      Okay update. 15km

      1. Now I've actually set the screen to km/h I think I was actually going a lot faster than I realized. I need to chill out a bit and slow down. There seems to be a natural tendency to pedal nearly as hard as I can (or maybe it's just me) so of course I didn't feel it was any easier.

1a. The assist is really smooth so I think it was working harder than I realised.

      1. Those handlebars are rock hard (compared to what I used to).

      2. Man that handlebar is low. It's killing my back. I am on the border of small and medium and ended up getting a small. Given the same seat height would the handlebars on a medium be closer or further away??

      3. Battery now on 3/5, though it may not have been fully charged. It showed 5/5 but was still red on the charger (still charging).

      4. The difference from 1 to 5 is less than I would have expected.

      5. Man coasting is noisy. It's like pedalling backwards on a BMX. I can pretend I'm on a motorbike though so that is cool.

      6. The assistance does seem slight, I'm still hot and got the heart rate up, but it has reduced the effort enough that I feel I can just keep riding. And I guess that's exactly what I wanted.

      • If you went for a medium, the handlebars should be further away horizontally but would be higher vertically. They don't list the frame geometry and stem length so it is impossible to know if its just a few mm further away or 10-20mm longer. Whether the seat would go low enough on the medium for your seat height is another question.

        • I'm relieved to see that stem risers are a thing that exist. Just need to check if the cables have enough play to allow it.

          • @DingoBlue: Stem risers put extra stress components and can cause them to fail. Wouldnt even consider using one.

  • For those experiences with bikes, is it normal to hear slight rubbing sound and feel a tiny bit of resistance when spinning the front wheel?

I have checked the break calipers a few times - following the step at 3.01 of the instruction video. However there is no change.

    • Try giving the caliper a sideways wiggle after you have loosened the bolts and before grab the brake lever to make sure it can move to align itself.

      • I'm having a similar problem. It looks like once you tighten the bolts down it shifts slightly.

        • You might possibly be tightening the bolts too much as that can cause the shifting. Otherwise try these other methods

    • I took my bike for a test ride today while still at the shop. I braked hard (deliberately) to test it out and afterwards, there was this rubbing sound that was coming from the bike. I told the guy, he said that with the brakes there is often some dust in the callipers that makes that noise when it's new but it should resolve in a week or so of riding. He said if not, add some lubricant to the brakes or they can do it for me.

I am no expert on any of this stuff, so not sure if this is the same as what you're experiencing but thought I'd add it in there.

  • Assembled the bike.

Charge cable is not Australian cable.

There is no way of telling if this bike is silver arrow or the silver arrow sport. Was able to get it upto 32kmph. 5 speed levels were available default. I bought the sport. But can’t tell the difference…

  • +2

I picked my bike up today and got to do it in-person in Osborne Park (WA). They aren't a retail store from what I can tell. The person who talked me through was excellent, he got me to test it, went through it all etc. He explained to me that later in 2023 they'll be putting out a Mercedes AMG branded version but this branding was being retired, hence the sale. Said slight changes to the new model.

Anyway, I had a brief ride and comparatively, I rode my wife's recently-purchased eBike - lighter and only single speed (one linked in earlier comments here). Hers is really zippy off the mark, doesn't require much peddling to get to 25km/h, but can't get me up a hill (she's a lot smaller than me, so would be fine for her). In fact, even if you peddle hers very slowly, it still gets to 25/km/h. The Formula E requires a lot more peddling (low resistance though), and if you peddle slowly it keeps the bike at a lowish speed. It's also slower off the mark and requires a bit of getting going, and I have to get used to the gear changing and how to use it. But once riding, it's more sturdy and powerful. I haven't had the chance to go up hills with it yet, but I imagine it'd be fine.

  • +2

have done around 100km on my silver arrow and reckon it is a pretty sweet ride. A bit of a rattle on bumps coming the front end- reckon it is the battery in the front tube moving around. Anyone else got this issue? Can't imagine its good for the battery if that's what it is. Range seems ok with the two batteries - reckon around 70km with a reasonable amount of assist running most of the time. Like others previously, wondering if anyone has worked out how to get the max speed lifted to the US 32kmh.

    • Still haven’t figured out how to get max speed lifted. Interested in this. Have the Silver Arrow Sport

      • Have you tried these Instructions on how to access Sport, Sport+ and Track mode:

Press M to power your bike on

Press and hold UP and DOWN buttons at the same time for 3 seconds, until a “29in” screen displays

Press and hold DOWN and M for 3 seconds, until you see 0-0-0-0 displayed on the screen

You are now ready to enter passcode (8888). Press UP to toggle through the numbers, and M to toggle to the next digit. (8,M,8,M,8,M,8,M)

After entering this code, use the UP button to toggle up to PAS 5

Press and hold MODE until you see PAS 1 on display.

To disable level 3, 4 and 5 simply do these steps again however at step 5 lower the level to PAS 2.

        • +1

Thanks for that. Before I try it, just want to check if I need to do it even when I have access all the way to level 5 already?

          • @pramki: I suspect that PAS 1-5 in the settings is different to PAS 1-5 while riding.

Gain and volume for guitar players.

I definitely could be wrong though.

            • @DingoBlue: Tried the above steps. No dice. Doesn’t respond as described above in the 2nd step. ‘29in’ screen display…

My brain dump after a ride this morning:

Front brakes not super strong and occasionally make a grinding sound but it's my first time installing a wheel with disk brakes.

Very hard to ride with no assist at all - even on the lowest gear is still tough and like pushing through molasses. It feels very heavy. You certainly wouldn't want to ride this much without pedal assist. I hit a steep hill which I could barely get up, without a decent run up. Other, less steep hills were easy. So most hills are easier, very steep are harder than a normal bike.

Random noises from the hub/CVT at certain gears. Not bad, just a noise and a slight friction feel.
Need to get used to CVT gearing but probably won't take long.
Power assist quite subtle but definitely good on PAS5 especially on flat. Got up to 32kmh quickly on a flat road with the highest "gear".

Not sure if size is right, middle of my feet are on pedals and that means I hit the front wheel with my toes when turning. Not sure if the same as my old bike, no time to compare. I'll adjust seat height and also vertical position but I think it's as far back as it can go. Not sure.

Definitely wants to stop going faster at 25kmh which is interesting and a bit annoying, but expected.

Interesting noise/clunk/feeling when peddling forward again after backpedaling/coasting.

Overall, quite smooth but it hasn't blown me away as I'd expect for a >$5k or even $2.6k bike.
Looks nice. I accidentally watched an older setup video that said "gently use a stanly knife to remove the protective foam" and even then scratched the black paint.

    • You might need to bed in the brake pads to get them to work best or you may have contaminated the discs which has affected performance.

If you have the middle of feet on pedals, it would be expected for toes to touch the front wheel when turning on a bike like this. Mtb's have slacker goemetry which puts the wheel further away but this looks closer to road bike geometry. Choose you preferred foot position on pedals and then set your seat height and fore/aft position accordingly as that will affect those things.

      • I definitely could have accidentally contaminated the discs, will that wear off?

Thanks for the advice on sizing. I'll have a play this arv! My old bike is a mountain bike so that would make sense.

  • +2

Bike arrived and assembled by shop. No issues, advised quality components as advertised. Having a Topeck pannier carrier, lights and mirror fitted prior to collection. Went for a quick ride at shop. Mechanic advised was set up to use lower gears and power 1 to get moving and low speeds and power 5 at higher speeds and on hills. Will need to get used to the power delivery as I am used to riding with rear hub power.

    • Wow you can install pannier?

    • LOL I saw your bike sitting there with its mirrors etc yesterday when I picked up mine. Looked good!

  • +1

Took it for another ride just then.
Sometimes it feels nice and fast and other times it feels like the heavist slowest bike I've ridden. It's odd.
I feel like going downhill with the pedal assist it's trying to limit me to 25mkh which I really don't like.

  • Hmm after 40km my belt has started to squeek while peddling. I've checked the belt tension, I tried giving the belt a spray of water and cleaning it but won't make it stop..
Anyone know how to check/change alignment?

    • +1

I am having the same issue and I contacted the support. They ordered some dry lube and sending that to me to try to fix the squeeking.
I will give an update when I receive the lube.

      • +1

I give the belt a good scrub with a toothbrush and a little dishsoap and still squeaked a little. Then I applied some silicone spray on the chain and that seem to have fix it, temporarily atleast. So much for zero maintenance and no need to lube, appears to be pretty common. This link will help https://www.cyclemonkey.com/blog/tech-talk-addressing-noise-…

      • The dry lube made the sound disappear so far.

        • Wow that was quick!

    • Is it just a squeak? Mine sounds a bit chunky.

  • Does anyone else's charger get red hot when bike is on charge ? I have a scooter and that charger gets nowhere near as hot.

  • Received mine today just around 4pm. I am not a expert in assembling bikes and I can’t even find a manual in the box. Feels a bit sillyz

    • Yeah the video is nice and detailed.
Couple of things were different, the seat wasn't installed on mine but no instructions for that, but I figured it out. The stand was already installed tho.

Just be careful with knives around it. They used paper tape you can just rip off by hand, and for the odd zip tie I'd use side cutters so you don't scratch it like me.
