  • Good price for a vacuum. I bought Viomi A9 from Aldi $200

Clear is the new Tightarse. Vote 1; clear šŸ˜

  • I can only see a single cyclone in the picture for the so called "multi cyclone stage filter".

  • +2

How would this compare to the Xiaomi Dreame V9/V10?

    • +3

      both sucks

    • Probably easier to get parts for the Dreame series.

      • This Uoni is more like a disposable product…once it needs spare parts, might as well put it in the bin…

  • Keen to know just how bad these are? I mean $150 only for a stick vac I'm almost tempted. Can it last a year at least?

    • You can do better. It is Ozbargain, after all

Advwin Cordless Vacuum Cleaner, 2 Speed Extendable 3-in-1 Cylinder Vacuums, Powerful Lightweight Stick Handy Vacuum Cleaner with LED & Wall Bracket, for Home Pet Hair Carpet Hard Floor | Red | Quiet

      Only $90! Suck it up.

      :-D

      • Oof down another $60. how much does it suck at $90? got any experience?

        • +1

Is there a Sucks per Buck ratio we can use?

PS My experience with a collection of stick vacuums has not been good.

          • @ArskinF: i've got a old Dyson V6 that needs to go. Is it still worth to pay the big bux for the latest Dyson or has the crappy chinese brand ones up to spec now? I almost feel like I've got nothing to lose at $90 lol

            • @tony87: We have one of the recent ALDI special buy ones. It's ok for minor clean ups, and might be OK for a small flat.

The rest of our big old house continues to be sucked clean with a 20yr old VAX. And suck it does, in the best possible way.

      • Aaaand … you recommended something with poor customer reviews … thanks heaps!

    • +1

U need a handheld with mutli cyclones in them. Like dreame, viomi or dyson. Any other tech and be prepared to be continuously cleaning the cloth or mesh filter.

  • +6

here is the thing i love the ergonomics of these stick type vacuums but they are impractical for a whole house clean. i like cordless, cordless rules and batteries are they way to go but propriety batteries that arent interchangeable are so annoying so i decided to go for a two pronged approach.

for small messes and a weekday clean i got a adapter for my ozito batteries that plugs into my old dyson v6
    https://crossfirepower.com/products/for-ozito-battery-dyson-ā€¦

andf i also got one of the battery powered ozito wet dry vacuums that has a bigger bin and more suction plus can deal with wet stuff.
    https://www.bunnings.com.au/ozito-pxc-18v-wet-and-dry-vacuumā€¦
i cant tell you how useful this feature is for a broken glass or cleaning up cat litter in the bathroom.

I understand that this solution isnt for everyone but if anyone else is as annoyed with the tiny annoying to remove bins from stick vacuums as i am this is a great compromise.

    • at first I thought that ozito adapter is a genius idea….but now I'm wondering if the balance of the dyson would be badly affected, with too much weight pulling your arm down….and then I thought hmm maybe the weight could make the dyson easier to manoeuvre by taking weight off the head.

      Now I'm just confused.

    • +2

For me I let the robot vacuums clean a few times a week and then do a once over with my stick vacuum each week and that gets anything missed.

      • Bucket sizes for me just make it slightly impractical as it runs for 20 minutes and its full and needs to be cleaned out everyday

basically if you like clean floors dont have cats, especially dont have cats in shedding season. i can brush everyday and ill get 5% of the hair from them.

i love the lil guys but i just want my tiles and rugs to not be filled with hair

        • The robot vacuums I use seem to handle the cat fur fine thankfully. Stick vacuum certainly seems to work better on the hard floor I've noticed.

          • @Clear: I'm sure you've mentioned this in posts past, but…what robot vacs do you use & recommend?

            • +1

@andresampras: Ecovacs N8 Pro with auto empty is the main vacuum. Then a cheaper Viomi SE for smaller areas.

              • @Clear: Cheers. Would you recommend the ecovacs for someone buying today?

      OZITO = Rubbish

In another post it was determined that an Ozito battery was a bad idea as the Dyson bats had a far higher discharge rate, far better design and life expentancy … Ozito batteries have cheap nasty short lived cells and far fewer contacts where the battery contacts contact the devices contacts to conduct current to what is an expensive piece of kit, go ruin it and come tell us about it?!

Motors run at "Under current" rates, heat up and burn out!

      • i have no idea what you are trying to say.

the batteries are supplying current dependent on what the load is. the load being a motor on a vacuum cleaner. the discharge rate is a function of the load and other internal resistances faced.

Are you saying that the battery contacts and conductors are less suitable than any other powered device? cause the amount of money you'd save by cheaping out on the contact area or the pcb trace widths isnt really worth any money. your milage may vary based on the tools you are using though. The cell performance isnt something that im super familiar with if you could pass on the thing you read that would be good.

also this system works for me and my use cases based on what my preferences are. im only advising it if you have similar ideas. im sorry if i offended you.

        • -4

          Oh WOW!

Don't use Ozito batteries as they won't supply the current needed nor will they make the contact that the original (and good quality) Dyson batteries do

But do what you want and ruin your expensive Dyson.!

Bet we won't see you back here admitting you furked it up!

          • @Series4Episode10: Actually, Dyson batteries are current limited because they are series only, whereas power tool batteries are typically designed to be both series and parallel. This means that Dyson batteries are current limited based on the cell but the cells in the ozito batteries could be 2/3rds as good as the cells in the official battery but because they are parralelled the will have more current delivery capacity than a single cell in the battery pack.

plus the Dyson vacuum batteries are designed to fail.

            Here's why:

Series battery cells in a battery pack inevitably become imbalanced. This is extremely common and why cell balancing was invented.
Dyson uses a very nice ISL94208 battery management IC that includes cell balancing. It only requires 6 resistors that cost $0.00371 each, or 2.2 cents in total for six. 1
Dyson did not install these resistors. (They even designed the V6 board, PCB 61462, to support them. They just left them out.)
Rather than letting an unbalanced pack naturally result in lower usable capacity, when the cells go moderately (300mV) out of balance Dyson programmed the battery to stop working…permanently. It will give you the 32 red blinks of death and will not charge or discharge again.

            • -3

@Hotross: Well ya should not be mixing them should ya … different is different … your word!

    • Seems like a waste, 3rd party batteries are less than that.

      • yeah good point. When on sale, the original battery from dyson may be around the same price as the 'crossfirepower' adaptor alone.

And with the adaptor you're sharing batteries back and forth instead of just having a dedicated battery on the vac.

        • WHich is fair but the batteries are a common failure point and i cant go to Bunnings and buy a replacement battery if it fails. ive gone thru 2 separate batteries for the dyson and its a touch frustrating to replace a $50 component every year and having to waste a week or two to get the part.

I also feel a little weird buying batteries from non brick and mortar stores. if a battery catches fire in your home from bunnings, bunnings has a problem. if "easybattery97" on ebay sells you a faulty battery that catches fire you have no real form of recourse.

This is just my preference based on what i think is safe which might be overkill.

          • @Hotross: I assume you meant to reply to TEER3X's post.

Having tried both 3rd party and original dyson batteries, I refuse to buy 3rd party any more. You're not saving enough money to counterbalance the fact there's a very strong chance the 3rd party battery won't last long.

After throwing money away on 2x 3rd party batteries that both died in less than a year, I bought direct from dyson ~2 years ago, no issues to date.

TLDR: buy direct from Dyson. Cheaper 3rd party batteries represent false economy IMO.

            • @andresampras: i wouldnt be so sure.

this github pages suggest they cheap out and it causes premature battery failure

              https://github.com/tinfever/FU-Dyson-BMS

              • @Hotross: Doesn't mitigate the fact my V6 is on its 2nd (dyson) battery from new, and my V7 is still on original battery.

With all due respect, I think you're interpreting the data incorrectly.

                • @andresampras: im not suggesting the third party batteries are better per se just the official batteries also have a glaring flaw that isnt present in battery packs for power tools by the virtue of not containing the same battery management controller.

                  • @Hotross: ah you're comparing the dyson batteries with the ozito + adaptor solution. Sorry I thought you were talking about 3rd party dyson-lookalike batteries from ebay, which are to be avoided based on my experience.

To each their own, I guess. In any case, I don't have any Ozito batteries.

              • @Hotross: Yep, went through a period of experimentation where I was trying to use better batteries with Ozito rubbish, furked a rotary impact screw driver , internal circuit just blew, and the polarity was correct!

                JUST DON"T

And all the aftermarket batteries except for a few from decent battery specialist (which aren't so cheap) will burn you, literally burn you with flames, burn your pocket and leave you feeling stupid!

  • Dyson v15 is like 10 times the price… but is it 10x the performance…

    • -4

50 times the life expectancy and design quality!

      • +1

Oh yes, life expectancy is also important. Lol if this one was similar performance but 1/10 the life expectancy, then also not good haha

  • -5

You'd buy the Dyson over this as you would be the type who has
'Respect for Yourself" if Dyson is too expensive, buy now pay later is you're friend … you won't regret it!

  • So many different cheap cordless vaccums on the market now. Has anyone done a breakdown the compares them all? (dyson, xiaomi etc)

Soon to be in the market for a new vaccuum but no idea on where to startā€¦..

    • +1

      vacuum

      • Nice one

    • Yup, if ya wont one of those cheap crappy things for nothing, just go out and find one left out on the curb!

Dyson = quality, nothing beats that!

      Also has after sales service.

You get what ya pay for, or better still if you know someone selling one second hand that has been looked after, ya get something decent cheaper, but you rarely see them as most keep them, you may get one from a deceased estate.

  • I'm set for the next 25+ years!

    • eh?

      • Buy 10 every two years or so replace?

        • You spent $1500+ on these today? I wish you the best of luck!

        • Thanks for the extra landfill B*stard!

Don't think about the environment will ya!

Dad had a corded Dyson, thing sucked (not sux) well, the thing never gave up, the thing never wasted paper etc due to being a cyclone type, wish I still had that, it got stolen after he died, he lived is a Sh!t houso village.

  • Season 4 Ep 10 of which series?

    House?
    Seinfield?
    Neighbours?
    South Park?

    Common episode theme is?

  • On Amazon, seller says there is no replacement battery available, and if customer asks Amazon they would supply one for $US30. It sux!

How would this compare to Ryobi 18V HP brushless stick vacuum $369? https://www.bunnings.com.au/ryobi-18v-one-hp-brushless-stickā€¦

    • Beware, this Ryobi doesn't come with battery.

I have no experience with ryobi vacs, but would question the desire to, when you can get one from a brand known for vacs for the same price.

      • I have plenty Ryobi batteries and chargers and I will not buy it unless it is on sale. Just want to know if it sucks or sux?

        • No idea mate. Maybe look for reviews on google.

Just consider whether you're better off buying a vacuum from a vacuum company or a tool company that happens to sell a vacuum cleaner.

  • -1

At this price, it makes more sense than this deal! https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/750860

    • Not same product, can't compare.

Like saying a Lada is a better deal than a Lambo

      • -1

I dont know about Lambo but Lada definetly is better than your any usual Japan, Korean or Holden car.

        • Hondas too :D

  • Bought this from a previous post for $160 just before Xmas. 1 week for delivery. Compared well with the Dyson - just a bit louder than the Dyson. No complains, happy with it.

    • Is it good on carpet?

    • -1

How do you know the difference? if you own a Dyson why would you buy this crap?
