    Any deals with black version?

Except colour any other differences with Panda edition?

  • -3

Just 2500pa? At $1k range it should be 4000

    • +2

The suction on this is excellent because the way the main brush is designed creates a better seal so it needs less pa power - I guess it saves battery while still being as/more effective.

  • This is the one? The golden child?

    • +1

      it's not ultra enough

  • +11

Hey Rep, any chance of a deal with the Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra?

    • Looking to buy S7MaxV too. OP can you do anything?

      • Same

    • Cmon Rep ;)

    • What special about Ultra that is missing in this one? serious question.

      • +1

It has a camera and can detect obstacles and avoid this one can't

        • Got mine delivered yesterday, seems to avoid stuff just fine. Though I don;t have tons of random crap all over the floors either like some people do.

          • @EightImmortals: @EightImmortals Did yours come with the bagless canister with the dock?

            • @dunnycan: Yes. It was the S7+ deal from Mobiciti just before Christmas. It was all setup ready to go, if you wanted to use the bag instead you have to remove the red canister bit and insert the bag holder in its place.

      • -1

Also it can self clean the mop with the dock?

Not worth the price premium though

        • I am thinking the same. Probably will go with Roborock S7+ Plus

        • The S8 Ultra that is coming out in April does, if you are willing to wait

          • +1

@Duckbutter: Pretty happy with my S7, reckon I'll work it into the ground before updating and if my S50 was anything to go by, that'll be not for a loong time

      • its avoids the smaller things around the house. (Below the level of the LiDar)
cables (I think, have to double check)
        socks
smaller metal chair legs (std ver have to bump into it)
        pencils/crayons/etc…

You can do some preplanning (on the app to avoid) for furniture items but if you have kids, and don't want to thoroughly check every time before you turn the robot on.
        The Camera is a bonus.

The camera, and more powerful motor is all I'm after for my next one.

Mopping/upgrades, self empty / water refilling stations, are all extras I'm willing to forego for a lower price.

        • I'd love the new one if it can avoid dinner chair legs. I currently have to set up a no go zone for my s7 because our chair legs happen to be the exact distance that lets the robot in but not out. How good is this with avoiding chairs ?

  • +4

Bought it from last deal, it's a great little robot.

    • +1

Me too, watched a few reviews first and I’m really happy so far.

      • Same, does an excellent job, I just need to come up with a good name for it 🤔

        • +1

          Floor-E?

        • SuckBOT

  • Yep…coming from a Viomi s9 and swearing it was the max id pay (499). Loved the Viomi but 1 month out of warranty, purchased the special…next level in cleaning. (especially with dog hair. No more tangles). The vacuum to disposal bin works a treat. I should have bought this one even at $1500 but the ozbargainer in me went the different way LOL

  • -5

It's a lot of money for a vac/brush that basically operates on a phone sized battery.
If you get two years out of it you are probably doing well.
I think about $200 for a dumb pinball type gobot is the sweet spot , unless you have cash to burn from your Airbnb.
Bring on the negs , but hopefully My Opinion will help someone make an informed decision .

    • +2

      I totally disagree.

The dumb pinball-style are a massive waste of time and money - they take forever to effectively clean your floors, and there's absolutely no guarantee they will ever make it to the furtherest corners of your house, even if you physically carry it from room to room. They are pretty much garbage.

A basic vacuum with room mapping via a Lidar sensor is the lowest spec I'd be willing to accept. You don't have to spend a lot of money to get that - just $300 or so. You probably don't need AI cameras, or self-empty bins, or remote home monitoring from the app. Those are all nice to have and make the experience more pleasant, but the basic ability to specify rooms to be cleaned on a fixed schedule means that floors just stay nicely clean and you can just leave the robot to do its thing. Just set an alarm on your phone to empty the bin on a regular basis. Things do get more complicated if you have non-housetrained pets, or children who leave blobs of goop on the floor though.

Also, my Roborock S5 is nearly 4 years old and still going strong. Only cheap junk will fail in 2 years.

      • I stand corrected.

If you can get 4years plus from a $300 bot with lidar ,
that would blow my eufy 35c away ,
I don't mind a pinball style as it seems to clean really well and I recharge with solar so power use no probs.
Seen lots of others fail though, just out of warranty, but maybe their better these days..

        Happy to be wrong

P.S. Could you recommend a $300 or so lidar vac that will last so I can have a look at reviews ect.

    • +4

A few months back I would have agreed with you (beach bum). Now having owned one, I'm pretty impressed with it. So much so, that I ended up raising some of the beds in our house so that the vacuum could travel under them.

The battery is 14.4 DC 5200 mAh - so likely 8x18650 cells in 4Series2Parallel configuration.

The app is also handy - and I like the fact that it is just Lidar, but no onboard camera. It mapped my place perfectly, and I was subsequently able to go in to the app and designate certain area off limits (like trying to travel and clean my outside deck should the door be left open). The cliff detection also works well and it avoids falling down the stairs.

      • I like the fact that it is just Lidar, but no onboard camera

        The camera is no good?

    • +9

      2 years?

I've had my Xiaomi Robot Vacuum Cleaner for 5.5 years and there are no signs of any battery or other issues.

      • Same. S50. Got it for $375 back then.

      • +1

Same here. Xiaomi robot vac V1 still going strong!

        • Yep. Still using my original Xiaomi vac V1.
Stuff paying $1200 for a big ugly bin. Makes the whole unit/dock look massive.
Meh people whining that the old style take forever to clean -> I put mine on when we go out. Who cares how long it takes to vac..?
If you need a quick spot clean, grab your stick vac.

          • @Maz78: I'm also running my v1, I'd happily replace it with the same if I could still find them :(

        • You guys also on the xiaomi V1, are you using it with an app? Am having trouble pairing it and am thinking it is due to the app version as I never had any issues when it was new. Any ideas on a fix?

      • +2

have to run forever if Chinese businesses want accurate maps of real estate properties.

        • If only there was a better way… maybe realestate.com.au!

What a waste of time to use a vacuum cleaner when its freely available.

    • +1

Have been running a S6 every other day for about 400m2 area involving two pets. Has been doing this for 5 years. Had it serviced once after it got proper jammed up with some string, but other than that - never skipped a beat.

I’d say the roborock has been my best investment I’ve made, really helps save time.

    • +1

Sounds like you've never actually owned a robot vacuum before, you're free to your opinion however but hopefully it does not put people off thinking these vacuums are anything like the dumb pin ball style vacuums.

  • Any deals on Ecovas Deebot Omni?

  • +1

Love mine. I have two cats and a dog and apparently there's a lot of shit around the house daily. Also, the mopping function works very well… I was pleasantly surprised. I hadn't mopped my house in years, and the mop function cleaned my kitchen and dining area completely.

    • +2

How does the robot deal with the shit?

    • +4

Lmao I think a small micro fibre cloth would pleasantly surprise you on surfaces that haven’t been mopped in years

  • Nice deal - I had a budget of under 1K so I bought a Ecovac T9+ today for $905 direct from Ecovac website - signed up got a $50 voucher and requested a discount via online chat and got a further 5%.

Also a solid unit for the price.

    • +2

Ok - I returned my Ecovac and bought this after looking at some further reviews. lol

  • +2

    https://www.gadgetguy.com.au/roborock-s8-series-robot-vacuum…
for those willing to wait for the next model, or maybe for the S7 to drop in price as result.

  • I bought mine 2 months ago from Amazon for $1349 so this is a decent deal!
This is my first robo vacuum and I'm very impressed by it. The only issue I've found so far is that the vacuum often missed mopping tight corners.

  • +1

the panda colour kinda deters me from buying this. If it was a mono-colour (either black or white) i would gladly buy.

OP any chance you can do us community a big shout out and provide the same price for either of the mono colours of this model?

    • +1

I suspect panda just means - they have a heap of black docking stations, and more white vacuums than white docking stations - and this is a good way to clear stock. The units come in separate boxes.

  • I've got a cheap robo vac that I don't like — doesn't have LIDAR, just wanders around and misses lots of spots. Thinking of upgrading to this but it's a big jump up in price. What are the bags like? The current vac I have doesn't have bags.

    • +1

The S7+ give you the option of bags or bagless, I haven't had it for long enough to say how long between emptyings.

    • +1

You don't have to go this far. A more basic robot vacuum with Lidar room mapping would be a massive improvement in coverage and convenience.

Have a look for the Roborock S5 Max, Deebot Ozmo 920/050 and others around the $500-600 mark. Half the price of this one, and the only major feature you miss out on is the auto-empty functions.

      • Last I looked the S5 Max wasn't available in Australia? (otherwise I would have gone for that)

  • +1

How's the auto empty? I've been fooled by youtube videos before, just want to be sure it can actually suck the dirty stuff out and go on cleaning by itself later

    • +1

Seems good so far. (compared to the Deebot I had for a while anyway).

      • I have the t8+, just non-existent

      • Edit to my comment above: Since posting the S7 has done a full clean of the house, no pets, and both times the bin didn't empty properly. It suck out a fair bit if it gets a larger clump of duct in the dustbin it tends to stay there. I will monitor and tinker and hopefully it will come good.

    • +1

I just checked the vacuum dustbin on mine for the first time in 3 weeks.

I've had it scheduled to vacuum, mop and auto-empty 3 times a week. There was a long bit of tangled cat fur that was caught in the filter (easily removed) but completely empty other than that.

      Pretty happy with it TBH

    • +1

Ours been 99% good, occasionally gets jammed up if something large gets suck into the vacuum (e.g. a tissue, or small piece of card)

    • +1

Mine occasionally has not transferred all contents correctly. Collected dust grouping just remains between vacuum and base. 2 second fix.

  • $1100 you can get the latest and the most powerful version of G10S Pro of Roborock in China, just check this link. https://mall.roborock.com/goods/106
The easiest way is to get this one from Taobao, but you might need someone help you pay the price in RMB. and just ship it to Australia.

    • What's the difference with the G10S Pro?

    • Looks like it's the same as the s7 ultra? Have you got one and does it work in Australia. App in English?

    • will it ship to aus directly from TB?

      • ya, most sellers on Taobao can do that.

    • won't you have to use the CHN version of the Xiaomi app instead of Aus version?

    • I have definitely seen something about these being region locked if someone can elaborate, otherwise this would be great!

      • ya, the region might be locked, but you can just use a router with OpenVPN support to switch the robot connection to China or HongKong. But it saves you $1500 if you got the same version in AU.

        • It's a lot to save but I want a robot vacuum to make my life simpler, not more complex… wondering what other issues this router change might bring, could come back to bite me. Perhaps I need to look into OpenVPN Support routers and how easy they are to use/configure/change when needed.

  • +1

does this have programming ability of zones NOT to clean ? I dont want it stuck under my sofa

    • +2

yes - using the app you can mark off areas not to go.

  • Does anyone know how big area it can vacuum on single charge? and what about Mop on a tank full of water?

  • I have clicked into the site, but the price is no longer $1198?

    • +1

You have to apply the code at checkout

  • Isn't there a dock with 3 tanks for clan and dirty water?

  • Very tempted but I got to prioritise

  • Nice deal

  • @AHUANG any more deals like this coming?
