  • Superloop is not available in my area . Oh well

  • +22

It really is poor that as an existing customer I have to churn to get the same deal as a new customer. Don't are the days when customer loyalty meant getting a better deal than a new one

    • +5

it's pretty much the same thing with mortgages these days too lol

      • +5

Always ask. You don't lose anything …. Before all the rate rises, I saw the Westpac was going to give me $3K to change to their fixed rate loan. I took that offer to NAB who had a $2k offer to other customers and said why cant I get the 2K to stay with you. Said I was bailing to Westpac and they gave me the 2K when I switched my loan to fixed.

        • +3

I contacted Superloop (current customer on $69.95 50/20 as of 28/12/22) and stated this offer. "They said there's nothing we can do." Poor.

    • I meant gone not don't lol

    • Yes I would be outraged, I'm with MyRepublic and have changed plans twice, no need to churn.

    • +1

They have a retention dept at superloop.

But also, you can be on a legacy plan for a long time…

      • Retention don't honour existing deals anymore. I tried. Moved to Australia Post Broadband $70.35 100/40 6 months. Just be mindful Superloop don't refund prorata for swapping mid billing cycle.

        • They also can't pause/suspend a service, so I had to cancel as I'm in hospital for a while.

        • Hi SoRightEcoLPI,

How are you finding Aus post as a provider? The price is more than decent compared to other deals around.

    • +2

Exactly. Super loop took over my previous ISP and jacked up all the prices. Thanks but no thanks. And the 6 month deal just that - a stick it to loyal customers

I understand that is how companies do business but I don't have to go for it.

      • Superloop extended the 6 months discount for us another 6 months. Then I saw the next month's ould be back to full price so went to spintel for very cheap.

They (profanity) up the order so it didn't auto cancel superloop but SL refunded anyway

    • I got offered $15 discount on the full price after 6 months on the 250/25 plan (104.95). Yes it’s not $99.95 but I have had very good experience with superloop so far and happy to pay the extra $5 after the first 6 months.

  • +1

    No Offer for existing customers

  • +8

And so the endless cycle of joining. staying until new customer discount expires. Churn, repeat process

    • This Offer: may only be used once per customer and premises

  • +8

As an existing Superloop customer, I’ve always gotten these deals simply by either asking or threatening to leave.

    • +3

I did too until recently. They said I had already been offered this deal and couldn't do it again. So I left to Aust Post

      • +2

Yeah they were stingy with me when I told them I'd leave, they offered me $5 off plans so instead he cancelled my plan on the last day of next cycle, had to show I wasn't bluffing

      • Hi OldBugger,

How are you finding Aus post as a provider?

        • +1

Churn was flawless and quick. I'm getting over half the speed in my area compared to SL. I'll look to change for that reason soon.

    • +2

Good for you. I stayed with them for 20 months until I found out they dropped the plan price a few months back but still charged me extra for the legacy plan without any notification. They did not offer any rebate or retention offer. I was not into churning but they kinda forcing it.

    • +1

Try again. They changed policy and won't honour. I moved after setting 6 month notifications for 2.5 years to the day. AusPost now. Don't mind my Pinoy mates at Australia Post Broadband call centre

  • Try calling them and asking if you're an existing customer. I think they call it a retention bonus or something like that. You do have to keep doing it every six months or so.

  • For those of you that are existing customers, how do you find Superloop? Worth switching to for the discount?

      • Thanks for that. Doesn't sound ideal. My 6 month deal with Exetel is ending so I'm thinking of switching

        • Exetel is owned by Superloop FYI

        • I switched from Exetel to Superloop when my Exetel special end last month. I really can’t tell the difference, got same good gaming ping (Australia and Asia server), always got 110m+ when downloading or updating games with 100/20 plan. I already had experience with Superloop for 10 months in 2021, all perfectly. Will switch back to Exetel when this Superloop special end. There are different when you disconnect with Exetel and superloop, Exetel need 1 months notice, Superloop can disconnect anytime but no refund (so check your billing circle).

        • I received an offer from Exetel as my six month introductory plan is ending. They've created a plan I can access through my Exetel portal to stay on 100/40 for $84.95 which is the same as the Superloop introductory plan. Might be worth checking your email or go to the change plan section in the MyExetel portal to see if you have the same.

I was one of the customers Exetel booted back in the day when they culled a bunch of 'excessive data users' even though I never went over my data cap. Only went back to test them out as Superloop bought them. No complaints so far, but I also haven't had to deal with any support or sales reps.

          • @chigga: I received an offer like that from superloop, I’m permanently on 124.95 1000/50 (I signed up prior to it dropping back to 500/50).

Didn’t ask for it, just popped up as an offer and I accepted it.

    • Excellent service, trouble free for 2 years now, never had to call support.

    • They’re good provided you don’t need support & your POI has no CVC issues.

    • Good for me over the last few months. 250/25 on HFC with no issues on gaming or high bit rate streaming.

    • Very good. Legacy 119 plan that was supposed to end 9 months ago. Asia ping awesome l. Much better than ABB

    • no issues for me, had a good 6 months at 53.95, they emailed me a 'lifetime discount' of $5 - equalling this deal; not sure if i'll continue at 64.95 - i'm pretty lazy but if the price is going to go up ~20% i might just try get a 100down plan instead

anyone else in the same boat?

  • +1

Tangerine are offering 100/20 for $62.90 for 6 months ending tonight

Aus post deal are also a lot cheaper

    • Ends 31st January, must’ve extended it

    • +1

Tangerine can also be stacked with referrals and $10 credit for leaving reviews.

  • Au post deal is solid for the fastest plan, I get 750-800mbits all the time and most importantly great customer service when you call for help. I had an issue related to cables outside house, they managed to send a technician in a day where as it took over 2.5 weeks with superloop for a sikilar matter!

  • Currently with AussieBB paying $100/m so considering switching to this. Alternatively, Has anyone ever had AussieBB provide a 'loyalty discount' if threaten to leave? I tried some time ago but didn't get anywhere.

    • +1

      They do, just ask

    • +1

I was in the same position and have been with them for at least 4? years. Asked them during all the BF sales why I had to take my business away from them after being with them so long just to get a discount. They came back and offered $10 off per mth for 12mths. So they do it, but that’s the first time they’ve done it for me. Just via the online chat function too.

    • I was with ABB a few years back and switched to superloop 100/20 fttn due to the price increase for existing customers ABB did a few years ago. Switch was seamless and quick. I do find occasionally (only very occasionally) I have slowdowns at peak times whereas I never had that with ABB, most likely CVC related. I get almost the advertised speed due to the node being almost out the front of my house, about 95/18. Having said that you really only notice if downloading a large file and occasionally some initial latency in a web request, dont notice with streaming services.

  • +1

Tried to sign up with Superloop last week for Flip to Fibre (at last). Site 500'd at one of the last few stages. But not before it's saved my desired username so I couldn't use it when trying later on different browser, device, connection. It 500'd again. Too hard. Gave money to someone else.
Really annoys me when companies make it impossible to give them money.

    • +1

Same here, but I was just creating another account to get the discount. So I went with Aussie for the free month and then I'll try again w/ SL.

  • With Superloop on 250/25 for about 18 months now. Rock solid for the last 12 Months with no peak time congestion. The first 6 months was good too with some occasional slowdown during peak. I am in Ryde NSW (2RYD) POI with HFC cable connection, but your individual experience will vary depending on location and NBN technology used.

    • Do you get micro drop outs (typically noticeable when on video calls when streaming stops for 20-30 seconds)?

      • +1

        No drop outs here.
Log in to your Superloop account and under Self Help you will be able to do a diagnostics test. look for something called "Flaps". If you see lots of these then you have a problem with your NBN connection. For example I have had only 2 flaps since my modem reset about a month ago.

        • Thanks that’s good to know. My micro drop out experience was 2 years ago so quite likely there could have been improvements. I also had a period of time when uploads were stuck at under 1mbps. Logged this issue with SL back then, they recognised the issue at that point in time but asked that I take record of speed test result 3 times over 24 hours in order to escalate to NBN. But 24 hrs is a long time, the issue resolved itself mysteriously within 24 hours so it never got troubleshooted. It’s just annoying as web browsing comes to a standstill at 0.1mbps upload speed.

          • -2

@delfredo: Ive been through so many providers over the past year and a half. Telstra, Mate, AussieBB, Dodo and more. Superloop was the only one I didn't have micro dropouts with. Every other one was constant daily drop outs, up to 5 or 6 per day. Ranging from a few seconds up to an hour or two. Should have stayed with Superloop but had no idea everyone else would be so bad. Now Im with Aust Post and they have no dropouts either. They just dont have as consistent top speed. So I'll just rotate between the two for cheaper deals for best connection in the future

        • +1

I'm on the same exchange as you and HFC as well. for the first 9-10 months Superloop was solid then micro drop outs came. Even though there's no congestion on graphs.

I then switched to Leaptel zero issues better pings to Japan as SL refused to extend any discount, and never fixed my micro drop outs

They were horrible on billing overchargee $10 and told ages to credit me back. All those phone calls wasting my time

  • Tangerine is the go to for this month it seems, I'll be moving to them for 6 months before churn elsewhere

    • +1

tangerine wasnt great for us , FTTN in WA. my husband said he rather pay full price than to use that internet lol

      • Thankfully I'm fttp

  • +1

50/20 used to be $54.95 for the honeymoon period o.O guess I will have to exclude them from the 6 monthly churn between tangerine and exetel. Exetel are pretty good with their 5 days free speed boost every month tbh.

  • +1

I read that the reason the 6 month offers happen is because NBN give discount to RSPs for new customers, can anyone confirm?

I have been with SL for a couple years now, recently did the free fibre upgrade too. both VDSL and fibre experiences have been awesome (fibre obviously much better latency)

  • +1

I went with Leaptel, mainly because the discounts are generally better and they offer discounts for 12 months. So far, so good - can turn off CGNAT and add IPv6, and international transit is good. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/734337 is worth a look.

    • I just moved too. So far so good and getting ~265Mbps on a 250Mbps connection. I didn't want to turn off CGNAT (ie. not waste an IPv4 address) but the PlayStation Network still doesn't support IPv6 in 2023.

  • I chatted with them last week in regard to upgrading my 250M plan to 1G plan but the person I chatted with said the special offers only applied to new customers so I probably have to switch to another provider soon. It sucks that people have to do this to get the benefits :(.

  • Please ignore. It’s my eye problem.

  • +1

Anyone know when this offer expires?

  • I pay $69/mo (bundled with mobile, else $79/mo) for 100/20 through Mate without having to switch providers every 6 months to take advantage of special offers. Pretty solid experience through FTTC (28 months since joining), the only time I've had to contact them was during the initial setup and the local customer service rep was very knowledgeable and effective.

  • Anyone ever upgraded from 250/25 to 500/50? I'm considering it, but I'm not sure I have the use case for it.

  • What are decent FTTN modem options that I can use with Superloop(or in future if churning to Mate etc)..currently with TPG. Not sure I can use this .

    • any vdsl compatible modem will do the job. just bridge it to a good router

    • Anything with Broadcom, and nothing with Mediatek.

  • +2

Just and fyi, they've moved tech support offshore now

    • There's my deal-breaker. is AussieBB the only one that operates completely within Australia?

      • Not sure, but I think Telstra has moved back onshore now after COVID. Superloop is a mix of both now. low level is offshore but if you complain enough they can transfer you to someone in Adelaide. Was real painful though.

      • Launtel and Leaptel support are in Oz.

  • they'll extend discounts for 6 months. politely insist on same price or you'll go elsewhere. did this recently on the 100/40 fttp plan

  • SL refused to extend my 6 months discount on 100/20, switched out.

  • +1

Is it easy to change ISP? Are there any physical changes or just on the backend? Is there any/much downtime? Or anything I should be aware off?
    Thanks for the help.

  • I'm moving to an apartment that has FTTB. Am I eligible for this deal?

Also, I understand that I require a VDSL modem, will the TP-Link VR600 be a good modem to pair up with my current Netgear nighthawk wifi 6 router??

  • +1

Just signed up (using the referral link btw) to the 100/40 plan. Moving from More Internet which is shocking for drop outs. At least a day's worth of drop out every month with them. They're not worth the Commbank discount tbh. Hopefully SL are better

Not sure if I should take up this offer or simply churn to another provider?

  • Hello all,

I am with ABB on their NBN 75Mbps/20Mbps Unlimited ($89.00) plan. Sent an email earlier today making them aware of the Superloop plan/offer. Got the reply below, I will take them up on their offer and revisit this in 6mths time.

I appreciate you emailed us to give us the chance to see what we can do! I
will be honest we can't fully price match Superloops offer but I do know we
can apply a discount for $20 off for 6 months.

So for example the 100Mbps/20Mbps plan would cost $79 with us for the duration
of the discount and you can even change the speed tier and still get the $20
    off within the discount period.

  • What is seen as a new account with Superloop? Can I just wait till before I have to pay again and get the wife to sign up with her details then I cancel mine? This way its 6 months for $15 cheaper again haha.. Or do they check the house address and person's details etc.

    • This Offer: may only be used once per customer and premises

  • I've been using a Telstra Smart Modem 3.with my Superloop and it works great for the most part, but it seems to kill the ethernet connections every now and then and i have to replug/reboot - anyone got similar issues and any way to fix? i havent really messed with the modem at all, they sent it to me for free for some reason so that's why im using it..

could i set it to auto reboot once a day or something? thanks if anyone can help! dont use VOIP.
