That's a great price. I bought the ASUS ROG Rapture GT-AX6000 at JBHifi for $410 price matching with Wireless1. Since I managed to grab some 15% off JB hi-fi cards, the final cost was $350 for me. However, this design looks more appealing to me (more lan ports). If JB HiFi or Office work had this, I would have gone with it.

    • I was looking to do the same thing with the GT-AX6000 and getting it price matched with JB. However, I didn't need the 2.5Gbps ports, and I wasn't a fan of the router UI.

Are you planning on updating the firmware to something else, or are you just sticking with the out-of-the-box firmware?

Either way, I'm still looking for a decent wireless router that has good wireless range. I don't see myself going down the router + separate wireless access point path, but maybe I might have too.

      • I don’t need Merlin as of now. But, AX6000 supports it.

I also got that 53U deal for $65 from Amazon. Might add that to the mesh if the range is not enough.

To be frank, AX6000 is an overkill for my needs. But, I always wanted to own these fancy routers.

    What does this mean?

You have to watch at least 3 ads before the security features are enabled.

    • People trust the router to do everything for them and leave their username as "admin" and their password as "password".

    • Hopefully not the same Optus and Medibank use!

Is there one that doesn't look like a spider/insect?

    • Try Netgear

    • Asus ZenWifi, Netgear Orbi, TP-Link Deco, Amplifi by Ubiquiti.

  • I much prefer access point setups versus one main strong router. However, two 10G ports makes this a great device imo. Those dang ports are expensive AF and allow for many more options regarding wifi6e access points and/or home servers.

  • Asus routers are very good from a configuration point of view for enthusiasts, especially if you use Merlin firmware which sometimes goes above and beyond the official firmware in terms of security updates. I had a RT-AC68U for several years and was very happy with it.

Wifi 6 is not Next Gen. 6E is current gen. 7 is next gen. This is a tough price to justify for a WiFi 6 only device.

    • I think if this was under $400, it would make it slightly more appealing. Also, a lot of people don't have devices that will take advantage of WiFi 6e. WiFi 6 would be adequate for the average user.

    • A year ago, I would of jumped on board.

Having said that, I have no clients that suport 6E. I think the only Apple product that does is the M2 iPad Pro.

    • Wi-Fi 6 was next gen when this router was released. Asus haven't updated the marketing.
