O&O Defrag 15 Pro + 3 Additional Programs Together for Just A$20.56 (Reg. US $164.88)

41

Got this as an email offer. O&O Software are having a Summer sale. They are offering a bundle of 4 packages for A$20.56. Delivery is via immediate download. Email didn't say how long the offer was valid for, just "Grab it quickly! This offer is only available for a very short time."

The packages are:

  • O&O Defrag 15.8 Pro (permanent, unlimited license)
  • CyberGhost Classic VPN (1 year subscription)
  • UpdateStar Premium Edition for 1 PC (1 year license)
  • Photomizer 2 (permanent license)

O&O Defrag is a well known, well regarded disk defragmentor. This version is smart enough to ignore SSD's (defrag'ing a SSD is neither necessary nor a good idea). I've used it for years, and it's excellent.

CyberGhost is a VPN service, allowing anonymous web surfing, email etc. I use a similar service when for public wifi (which is not encrypted) The 'classic' level subscription allows 20GB/month bandwidth after which you will be shaped to 512Kb/s. After the first year, there is a charge of €4.77/month (but you can cancel).

UpdateStar claims to keep all your installed software upto date with the latest patches. Dunno how good it is.

Photomizer is yet another 'easy to use' photo editor/fixer. I've never used it, but sounds nearer in capability to Picasa than Photoshop.

The $20.56 for Defrag Pro is a great offer. The others are freebies that may/may not be useful.

Who defrags these days? The VPN might be worthwhile if you use more than a non expiring block account in a year.

    • They have lost all respect… they were even trying to sell defrag products for SSDs…

      • hey were even trying to sell defrag products for SSDs

        lolwat?

    • Yep, I remember when I used to defrag my 6.4GB Quantum Fireballs. Good times, good times.

  • Yes the only thing that interest me is the VPN. But I wonder if it's worth for occasional use.

Presumably O&O Defrag Pro is pretty much the same one you can get at http://store.pcauthority.com.au/p26885-oo_defrag_145_profess… for $5.95?

no… but it is the same as this one you can get at the same store http://store.pcauthority.com.au/p15573-oo_defrag_15_professi…
      for $23

      your neg is invalid

      • Because it's 0.5 of a version number behind? Thanks but I'm not going to pay 4 times the price for that 0.5.

        • That is your option…. Others may disagree…. however, you negged because a different product was cheaper…. which is interesting, but should not be negged. The actual product is more expensive at your link.

        • As the OP pointed out, "The others are freebies that may/may not be useful". Not an entirely different product, a slightly lower version (which by the way has been updated more recently than the version being sold in this thread).

Yes, it's my option, and my opinion. I'll buy based on which is the better and cheaper product, which is why I frequent a site called OzBargain.

I don't understand why you have such a problem with someone negging a deal - it's not a personal vote, just an indication that in my opinion the deal is not of value. Personal assessment yes, personal attack on the poster no.

I've gone back and reviewed the Voting Guidelines, http://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/help:voting_guidelines, and am comfortable that my negative vote is in accordance with them. Generally I don't vote negative, but comment against a deal. In this case, I felt a negative vote was appropriate. That doesn't mean others have to agree with me entirely, but my vote is based on the merits of the deal as I see them.

When a deal receives enough negs, the deal disappears for the majority of users…. You giving an opinion and negging means that the deal may be removed from other members view, whether or not they share your opinion…. (of course, your opinion will also disappear). Some people may wish to take advantage of this deal, your neg may go towards denying them that opportunity. You haven't pointed to a cheaper version, nor commented on the specific product, nor the retailer. One more 'yeah me too' neg, and the post is gone, (along with your words of wisdom).
Who knows, the next great deal you miss out on might be because a couple of people just didn't like it, (in their opinion).

Comment, by all means, but adding a neg reduces the chances of your comments even being seen….
