the rate at which the SIII's price is dropping is ridiculous(ly brilliant)!

agreed, you'll be able to buy it cheaper next week

and the galaxy note price is going up disappointingly

    • galaxy note 2 will be released in Oct

so, the price (G Note1) should drop :\

      • However the galaxy note has sold for around 500 with shipping while now its around 550, so that is rather disappointing

  • I just brought from ShoppingSquare, $638.00 was cheaper than Kogan. and now THIS. farrrrk!

      yeah well that's life

  • Yay for competition!!!
If i did not get my one xl this would have been an attractive buy. Take advantage of this awesome phone/price. One can not tell when it will go back up in price. but i suspect it won't go much lower than this, this is now one x territory.

    • It's predicted to be $500.00 in coming months.

      • wow phones are really dropping in price. This is great news. i may now actually have 2 super phones yippee!

      • -2

        $250 this time next year.

        • +5

          can u buy me a S2 for 250? i`ll pay postage

    • It won't go higher. More sales = more profit. The lower it goes, the more they sell. If they cut the price by 1/3 and sales quadrupled, they are making more than they would have keeping it at the higher price (aslong as still above cost price ofcorse).

  • Whats the cheapest with 2 year warranty?

    • if you have a gold/platinum card, purchase it with the card and you may get 1 to 2 yrs additional warranty.

      • if not, whats the cheapest stand alone?

      • +3

BEWARE: Most of the Gold/Platinum Visa M/C extended warranty's come with fine print along the lines of the following: (This one is from the NAB)

"If the original manufacturer's warranty is valid in Australia and provides cover of between 12 months and 4 years it is extended for up to one year." and as such, they do not apply to imported phones which don't have a valid manufacturers warranty in Australia.

Just buy it with a CC that offers 1 year extra warranty…

    • The charge on your card is going to originate in Hong Kong, so this probably won't work. Unless there are credit card that offer warranties on things purchased overseas….there might me, I don't know.

  • Using "carbontax" as a voucher code is a great idea.

    • +2

Do they even have Carbs Tax (or any tax for that matter) in Tibet, Bhutan, Nepal or where ever Kogan's sourcing this from?

  • how long does it normally take to ship?

  • +4

    Phone's back up to $599

    • +1

I called it, had a feeling it would.

    • Wow that didn't last

    • +1

yep, the carbon tax came into effect.

  • Missed out :(

  • What country is the Kogan S3 from? English?

When is the Galaxy Nexus successor coming out?

    • +1

      English isn't a country.
"This Product is offered and supplied by Kogan HK Limited pursuant to the Terms and Conditions." I'd take this as it's a Hong Kong import.
Since the Galaxy Nexus came out around mid-November, it would probably be around the same time, but don't be surprised if it doesn't have a microsd slot.

    611.91 shipped with KGNCOOP1

  • Constant price cutting will make people even less likely to buy.. strangely enough. People are just going to wait for it to continue dropping until it stabilizes.

At this rate it will be cheaper than the One X in a month or so.

  • Now hoping that iPhones will do the same :)

  • Tempted to sell my iPhone 4 for ~$450 and buy this for $615.
    Decisions decisions.

    • That's exactly what I did.

Pay $200 for the newest phone on the market, Really I only use the iPhone for email, texting and music. I think I'll use this phone alot more due to it being soo open-source.

      • Yeah. I'm just kinda worried about what the break away from Apple wil cost me, in terms of apps and connectivity to things I've bought eg my car stereo. Oh well.

Either way it's a gorgeous phone, had a play with one briefly in store.

    • If you can still find some sucker willing to pay $450 for used 4 (not 4S), go for it!

      • Checked eBay and that's what they are going for.
Iphones hold their value amazingly, I've sold 2 previous models each time Ive upgraded and been surprised by how much I received.

  • What is the limit on the microsd storage? Need to understand why you would need to pay more for bigger internal storage.

    • It's compatible with up to a 64GB microsd card. Maybe some people might want more than 80GB on their phone.

      • Does it have to be FAT32 though?

Not being able to fit movies larger than 4GB even with all that space would be a bummer.

        • No it doesn't have to be fat32

  • is there any way any department stores are willing to price match this?

  • +1

Given a lot of Kogan's products seem to come from overseas, do they even have to pay much Australian tax?

Seems like a stupid idea for a code.

  • +2

Great price for the device, though I wish that Ruslan Kogan would shut up and keep his political opinions to himself.

  • just wondering how long does kogan normally take to ship?
