Not sure if this should be a deal or forum post but noticed a few minutes ago that VoLTE2 showed up on my phone .
Might be due to 4G premium network

Did it show up today
Couple days ago.
Probably forum imo
What does VOLTE2 mean? Just means Amaysim has VOLTE now?
I think it's likely a duel sim phone and the OPs amaysim sim is in slot 2 now has VoLTE.
I have a family member who was like what is this icon? I had a look and it reports VoLTE2 on their woolworths sim card which just happens to be in slot 2.
slot-2 is probably an esim.
Same for belong and woolies
Hellstra's been migrating 3G frequencies to 5G for a long time now, all the whilst claiming that 3G services won't be impacted. Typical Telstra lying BS really.
Telstra wholesale only had voice service on 3G so you had ever decreasing voice service in affected areas.
Guess it finally got to the point where normal users (as opposed to Whirlpool people) were noticing that their phones weren't working as phones.
Telstra is the scum, like Gerry level. If their coverage wasn't so superior I'd never give them another cent.
Same on Exetel:
A nice side-effect of this is that now VoWifi is becoming available on cheap plans too.
Aside from the obvious benefit, this means no more international roaming fees. Your AU number will work on arrival over the airport wifi, and you can just slip in a local data 2nd SIM. Your AU SIM will do calls and SMS over the data from the 2nd SIM.
This is not really true, yes some of the providers allow you to receive and call back to Australia not all the providers,
If you have a data Sim in your second slot and it has internet connection the Australian Sim in the first slot won't login to wifi calling, it needs to see a wifi network
From my personal experience with boost mobile physical Sim in slot 1 and local esim in slot 2
As soon as I connect to a wifi boost mobile picks up vowifi
You are absolutely right!
I think you also need to have boost mobile coverage first to have the wi-fi calling activated, so if in the country where you are travelling to doesn't have boost mobile coverage/support then wi-fi calling won't work, correct me if I am wrong.
Not sure about this requirement for boost mobile.
I activated an amaysim esim on an overseas phone before my dad was travelling to Australia and as soon as I activated it picked up the vowifi signal and I made a test call and it worked fine
@malieckal: Can I clarify your experience?
I think you're saying you bought an Amaysim plan with e-SIM, added it to a handset that was overseas at the time, activated the account, and the handset immediately connected via WoWIFI whilst still overseas and the owner could make a domestic Australian call to an Australian number at domestic rates? If that's correct, what was the overseas location? (to rule in/out the possibility of the IP address being in an Australian geo-pool by fluke).
I am with Amaysim and I'm trying to establish if WoWIFI works from an overseas IP address. I contacted Amaysim twice today. First answer was "You can use wifi calling while in [sic] overseas", second answer was "Wi-Fi Calling is not available when roaming overseas." (quoted from an Optus article). Superb, two answers, directly contradicting each other.
I'm in IT and can set up a router/laptop that routes all traffic via a VPN to my home router and experiment… but ideally I want to know before I go travelling if I'll be able to use my Australian number without jumping through hoops. Real-world tests are the best method in the absence of explicit Telco statements.
@Garth2079: From reading Whirlpool forum posts, I believe only Telstra doesn't geoblock Wi-Fi calling, so it won't work overseas.
@ballistykx: Thanks, I think you're almost certainly right but sometimes the policies are changed and the service reps aren't updated.
I can circumvent by setting my laptop to act as a wifi hotspot with a VPN client to route traffic through my home internet connection but would rather know beforehand if it's needed.
Everyone said I couldn't set up my NBN home phone on my Android mobile phone as a SIP client, but that works just fine. Sometimes the best proof is first hand experience because what shouldn't work and what doesn't work are not always the same.
@Garth2079: Definitely test yourself if you can, I'm bringing a few sims to test myself in Singapore next month.
In cases where you can't test, you can find answers from reputable sources and whirlpool has lots of people that have done many tests.
some of the providers allow you to receive and call back to Australia not all the providers,
So you might need a VPN?
VoWifi over 2nd SIM is handset-dependent. I'll have to test it on my new phone. Which did you use?
Yes you are correct and sorry for my previous comments, I checked my phone yes there is an option called backup calling in which a mobile data connection is used to make wifi all on the secondary Sim or primary Sim based on which Sim has got stable internet
That's not how VoWifi works.
To match the quality of your argument, "Oh yes it is".
Pardon me, you are right. I misread.
Vowifi? Just ported my dad out of amaysim as their coverage is bad inside home
Amaysim supports both vowifi aka wifi calling and VOLTE
Same issue I have coverage inside my home is poor but it logs in to wifi and calls through vowifi is perfect
On s20 ultra,
You will have to select wifi prefered in settings else it will stay on volte
Thx
Free vomit when join Optus
It's annoying the pjhones that are support for VoWiFi is limited. Loving the support on the Pixl 7 pro. Live 55 floors up and reception was p[atchy at best.
you too high for antennas. need elon musk new phone the antennas are alot higher
Same for catch
