I had a look at my local JBHifi today - yes 10% off PCs and Laptops.
Just a warning to some people to be careful with jbhifi especially when it comes to sales and display models.
Be vere careful that what you purchase is brand new and sealed in a box, as my friend and I learnt that these crooks don't accept returns or refunds if you take something back if you aren't happy with it, I must say they are the worsest people I have ever dealt with when it comes to taking something back to them for an exchange or refund!
My friend actually got stuck with a brand new tv that he purchased as a display model that had a big scratch in the middle of the display that we never seen and basically jbhifi said bad luck we don't care and we won't change it for another one. I personally will never buy anything from there apart from a cd or a dvd (if they are cheaper than everywhere else), nothing more unless you never want to return anything to them as they don't want to know you at all!
GUYS! Includes MACS!!! That makes the price of the mac even better than Apple Education prices.
Might pick up a GPS unit. Was thinking of getting one for the parents for XMas. I'll look around 1st but.
I just got Office Works to give me another 5% off the JB price for a TomTom One GPS.
At JB their price was $259 after taking off 10%. OW took off another 5% and it cost me $246.05 - not bad at all.
cheers I'll check out Office Works too actually. HN and Dick Smiths didn't really have much available locally.
Hi AussieBattler,
I have bought a lot of things from JB hi fi, and they have always been excellent.
It might be store to store thing-Which store did your friend buy his TV from?
-I buy from Macquarie Centre (NSW) store - and I get the best deals.Since you have mentioned TV, I bought a Sony BRAVIA KDL46X3100 46" X Series Full HD LCD TV and a Home Theatre from them around April, and the Home Theatre (sealed in a box) did not work properly and they changed it even after four days- the package was opened by me- no questions asked- and in fact- they did a free home delivery for the replacement home theatre system.
The PS3 games or Blu Rays that I buy from them are generally the cheapest (except if you are trading used ones) - of course, there are exceptions when there are specials going around in Target/ Dick Smith, Kmart etc.
All in all, I would rate JB Hi Fi as 8/10.
Hi Varunpant,
It was from the Northland shopping centre store here in Melbourne, you are right it may have been just this particular store and it's manager but it sort of seemed like it was there policy at the time. This was about 5 years ago though maybe times and policies have changed since then I don't know, I am just telling people about my experience with this particular store.
Hi AussieBattler,
Thanks for your reply and sharing your experience,
Cheers,
Hi guys, yes I had a bad JB hifi experience a couple of months ago(Melbourne, elizabeth st NOT lonsdale). Earphones for my macbookpro a pair of Senheisers ($50.00). I queried if I could return if they didn't work ( I always ask this whenever I buy anything), I was told only if they didn't work, I told them that for some reason some earphones don't work on some mac's and as I was trying to explain that this is what I wanted them for, I was very rudely cutoff by the so called area manager, and was told if they don't work we will accept a return. As she walked away and left me with the cashier, the manager made a face to someone behind the counter, all in all very rude.
Wouldn't you know it, they didn't work, I took them back and they tested them and they must not have worked for them either, and the manager (a different one unfortunately) said, I'll just get another pair to replace, to which I very sternly said NO, I dont want a replacement, I want to return only give me a gift voucher, as this was the way I made the purchase. She did and that was that. I do believe they try to make it extremely difficult to return some things. In the same week I bought a PS3 game for a gift but the person who i purchased it for already had it (virtua ighter 5 for $40.00), so I returned it, after about a week, they just checked it had no scratches done..too easy.
Ask if you can return (and conditions) and get that person's name, and try to go there when that person is there (should you need to return anything).P.S.
I've bought speakers (Jamo $2,000), Mini hifi system ($500.00)Receiver (onkyo $1900), Subwoofer (Klipsch $1,500) Sony miniDV handycam (1500.00)and other bits and pieces from JB over the last 20 years and have had no problems. The right sales guy makes all the difference-TRUST.
Can anyone confirm/deny if this includes laptops?
They had 10% laptops a month ago..
EDIT It looks promising.
On this link it says it expires on the 6th of October
http://www.jbhifi.com.au/computers/laptops/
