I think if you are in the Apple ecosystem with iPhone, then Apple Watch.
Buy Huawei watch if you are using an Android phone.
If you are an iPhone user, it doesn't make sense to pair it with an Android watch. Just as it doesn't make sense to buy an Apple watch if you use an Android phone.
Garmin is probably the few exception, but then Garmin is more of a fitness centric watch, people buy if for specific reasons.

Yes!! Officeworks listed the Midnight Aluminium 45mm GPS + Cellular as low stock at Elsternwick. Called up to confirm it was there and had them hold it for me. Went in with my Ultimate Gift Cards that are currently 15% off at Coles and then asked for a price beat. Came down to $531.05. I had $531 in gift cards that cost me $451.35. Pretty bummed out that the $0.05 I paid via Amex wasn’t further discounted. Very happy with the price. I recently purchased a used one the same from Cashconverters for $470, lucky I claimed TRS on that.

I price matched it with JB Hifi. When I entered to buy it in JB Hifi store, the last two nos of series 7 45 mm blue aluminium watches were bought in a span of five mins using the same 15% off TCN cards so I assume they were also Ozbargain users ;-)
JB Hifi instead offered me Apple Watch Nike Series 7 GPS, 45mm Midnight Aluminium Case with Anthracite/Black Nike Sport Band which I believe is much better deal with Nike faces included for the same price. Grabbed one. The guy at JB Hifi was very polite and helpful. I hope this retail season is easy on him.

Awesome deal, had $450 in GCs for JB from the recent coles deal. Nearly jumped on this last night to buy via Amazon but held off and got one this morning at JB. With my gift cards (+$4) it only cost me $386.50 which is a touch over 40% off RRP of $649

Yeah you’re right about midnight black. That is probably the only compromise I made - had to go for blue which I do still like (probably wouldn’t have gone for green if blue ran out though)

you need to swap them for JBHIFI gift cards. you can buy JB gift cards online but order may get cancelled (i managed to get 2 gift cards before they started getting cancelled). So this morning i went into a JB store, they refused to let me buy JB gift cards using my Ultimate gift cards, so instead i purchased an item worth $450 and returned it for gift card credit, which i then applied to watch (called 13 52 44 for price match and bought the watch online).

This was timely for me because I checked the price of a series 8 last week and elected to stick with my ageing series 3. JB Hifi Bondi Junction price-matched their last blue one, but I nearly missed out on the Ultimate Gift Card deal. I visited three Coles to find no evidence of the cards on their gift card stand. I asked at the third store but got no help. I was resigned to paying the whole $454 (still a great deal) but went back to the second Coles because it was close to JB, asked there and was directed to a counter, where they had heaps. The woman sold me 5 x $50 then offered to sell me another 5 at the next register! I bought 9 in total for $382.50 and paid the other $4 in cash. Thanks OP!

I just received mine. Mine appears to have been sitting on the shelves for long time as the battery was very flat. I thought I had the green snake of death as it was stuck in the charging screen for over 30 mins to an hour. Took it to Apple store as I thought I might have that issue with the battery and after being left on their charger for about 5-10mins, it turned on.
Same here, though in my case the charging cable was also faulty.
So first a couple of hours of nothing then a couple of hours with a working cable to get it actually turned on.
Hopefully the battery life isn't crap as a result.

Thanks OP my first Apple Watch. Got mine from Amazon very fast next day delivery. Had the same low charge problem a few others had but charge it for a while & all good. Mainly came on here to warn other newbies like me, if you care about scratches DO NOT WEAR it without a screen protector. I was at home all day and still managed to get two scratches, one really deep one first real day of use :(
I wonder whether the newer models glass are not as strong. I wore a series two for years and never had a scratch on it. Then I bought SE last year and after a few months got some small scratches at the edges of the glass. May have to get a screen protector for the 7.
What sort of screen protectors on the market?
