For a few bucks, try baking soda and super glue.

      I love these videos!

A lot of effort for a plastic cogwheel though haha

      • +2

yes, but at least it gives an idea on how to fix something like that.
i would've thrown it out or looked to 3d print a replacement if it was important.
        this is a simple fix

    • Super glue differs from epoxy though and looks quite messy.
Wonder if this method can be applied to an area that is load bearing

      • Check out the 00:00:55 mark in the video.

Do be aware baking soda is a base and is also a way to speed up the chemical reaction to make super glue dry really fast!

It’s a cheap way of buying an accelerant!

Superglue and baking soda is waaaaaaay different to JB Weld. If you actually need JB Weld for a task, you wouldn't even think of superglue and baking soda.

I will never buy from Automotive SuperStore again. Sent me the wrong product. Authorised the return - which they signed for. Then never responded again. Months of stuffing around. Only ever received a refund after going to Fair Trading NSW. Joke of a business.

These are very good. I fixed many things with these.

  • Have been using this standard epoxy since 1995. Great product, quick ones are not good as the standard though.

This is an excellent product. I literally bought it one month ago off amazon for $15.29 when it was on special. I had tried about 4 different types of glue prior to this and they all failed for the metal that I was trying to glue to plastic, but this stuff is awesome.

As per a number of the other comments - JB Weld is freaking magic. Always good to have some of this in the toolbox.

    • JB, you’ve done it again!

This is a great product, used it to repair and fix iron finials when I restored my fence 👍

  • How many kilos can it support ?

    • J-B Weld™ has a tensile strength of 3960 PSI and sets to a hard bond overnight. It can withstand temperatures up to 550ºF when fully cured.

      1 PSI = 0.070307 kg force per cm^2

      => ~ 278 kg force per cm^2

      • Thats the fore to cause tensile failure, i.e pull apart till it breaks

  • My price was $12.40 with ebay plus. Did the price change? Or am I doing something wrong!!

  • It is $12.40, price has gone up.

  • Sparesbox $13.22 delivered

  • Does this stuff dry out in tube once opened or can be stored easily for use many times without waste?

    • +1

i've had the same tube for 2 years. just make sure you clean the threads of the tube before tightly screwing the lid back on. if you want to go a bit extra, you can store in an air-tight container.

      • Thanks for confirming.
