I don't think it's the WaterForceX 280 (with the LCD screen), just the WaterForce 280 with the eagle pic only. Your title says WaterForceX 280.

Ahh, I misread the title, corrected. Thx!

      • NP, good luck.

      Noise Level (dBA): 36.5dBA

The software is fairly atrocious in regards to fan curves, and thus is fairly rampy if you allow it to control it, as the software will just use cpu package temp as opposed to something more gradual like the liquid temps.

You are better served by attaching the fans to a generic ARGB port on your mobo, and hoping it's compatible with literally any other piece of software that isn't written by Gigabyte. (OpenRGB, Fancontrol etc.)

      • Their the noisiest part of my system, like a plane taking off. (unlike my very quiet four extractor fans) I was going to hook them upto the MB's CPU fan port instead once I had fully finished tinkering but you say I need to look into third party software as well. Thanks, I will give it a go.
I have the X version so I couldn't go past the screen but yeah, the software was lousy, I was wondering why it got so hot in Cyberpunk then discovered in the settings it could be boosted- why doesn't it just do that automatically when it's getting really hot?

  • 4-bay NAS bundled with a single smaller HDD. Odd decision.

    • Exactly but how does this QNAP compare to DS920+?

      • +2

I have been looking into this. Hardware wise, the QNAP is better in basically every way, but when it comes down to software, the Synology has a slicker, easier to use interface.
The newly released update to the DS920+ is the DS923+. It has moved to a 2 core rizen processor with no iGPU, so it is not as well suited to running Plex or doing any kind of transcoding.

        • Is QNAP supported by any open source NAS software platforms?

          • +1

@megadeth: I believe it is possible (I saw someone install freenas on an older model, and windows server too), but you would be creating a crapload of work for yourself to try and iron out the kinks.
Probably easier to work out what you need it to do or run, then find hardware/software combo that is best suited to the task. You should be able to do most things though the QNAP OS. It handles backups, docker containers, camera surveilance with AI recognition, has a dedicated VM station, and if you don't like those then there are plenty of 3rd party apps you may like more.
I'm pretty new to the NAS world, but have been reading up to get my head around it all.

I wonder when SC will finally allow pickups at their Alexandria NSW address.

    • I live like 5 min walk away, so frustrating!

  • So much for getting a DS920+ during BF/CM.
They put the price up not once but twice.
