Any reason why you keep posting fake deals more expensive than your eBay store? Also @MorriJ caught you jacking.

Sorry but will have to neg to alert members of issues with your store (can't be trusted).

      • +1

Like I said last time, if you feel I have made an invalid neg vote just report it to the mods, I don't mind.

        • They'd need to hand out blocks of 500 negs a day to appropriately vote on OzBargain each day

      • +6

Get a load of this clown. Uses his profile pic to whinge about a particular merchant & yet tries to shitcan others for trying to keep other merchants honest.

        • +1

I'm so sorry that I've upset you.

          • @[Deactivated]: Don't confuse disdain for insult, sweaty xx

          • +4

@[Deactivated]: Would you like ozbargain to have more doses of spam, advertising, price jacking, socket puppeteering and the like.
I know I’m sick to death of it.
Who knows maybe you love sitting at your computer in your dodgy Ugg Australia uggs whilst eating way overpriced Sutton Forest Meats.

            • -1

@bennybaubles: So much to unpack there. But it's Friday night and I'm not seeing a lot of value of arguing with anonymous people online. Have a great weekend.

  • Thanks op got one. Now i have to learn how to play it.

  • +2

Read all the reviews you can before buying Donner instruments.

From the reviews, they seem ok unless you have warranty issues, then they try to slug you with return shipping fees to China.

    Hopefully they have addressed this.

    • +2

Isn't this is good for beginners? Don't want to buy a expensive one and then break ot.

      • +5

I think you will be fine. I am actually serious tempted to buy at this price, and I already have way too many guitars as is. The price is really a no brainer - once you add up the value of all the case and accessories, you are probably paying only $40- $50 for the guitar. And although the accessories look on the cheaper end, the padded case actually looks very usable, compared to thin dust cover style bags you get in other packs.

The real kicker for cheap guitars (all guitars actually) though, is taking it to a guitar tech for first set up is like $50. Usually, but not always, the strings are set pretty high from factory, and its hard to play. I would hate for a beginner to quit because of this.

  • Couldn't find any video reviews, dunno it can beat entry level Yamaha or not.

    • +4

I take any yamaha guitar over this

      *edit:
      source….I own too many yahama's

      • I know the feeling. Still waiting for a Yamaha tele style to add to the collection.

        • Never wanted to be a Yamaha fanboi, but the ll16 and revstar are just the ultimate. I hear you about a Tele, but the only one I would consider is a madcat

    • amazon.com/Donner-Acoustic-Mahogany-Acustica-Pickguard/dp/B09SHQFQ9Z?th=1

There is a video, about half way down the page. The first one.

I think it sounds good, and I listen to a lot of guitar demos. Given the video is from the manufacturer, it seems likely they picked out a good one to demo though.

    • Quality would be better sure, but wouldn't even a 2nd hand Yamaha be at least double the price of this?

  • +8

Hi Rep, you never responded as to why you've posted items on here more expensive than your eBay store twice now.

  • +6

Op I’d like to know as well.Your past performance speaks volumes,I would much rather buy a Yamaha at a local store where I can return it for free.

  • +6

negging to alert members of issues with store as outlined above

        • -3

LOL! You have no idea how little I care about this and most other businesses on OzBargain. I just enjoy watching people waste their money on junk.

@[Deactivated]: So is that why you upvote really bad deals? I thought you were serious on this post, were you just joking around.

    Solid deal. Thanks OP!

  • Would like one but do you deliver to Thailand?! :)

  • +1

Negging for the same reason as outlined by all the other users above in their posts.

    • -4

Thank you. You're doing such a great job here. You'll be fondly remembered for your efforts.

      • +1

Sorry… all I heard was "ReEeeEEEeeEEeEE", could you repeat what you said?

        • Tinnitus is when you experience ringing or other noises in one or both of your ears. The noise you hear when you have tinnitus isn't caused by an external sound, and other people usually can't hear it. Tinnitus is a common problem. It affects about 15% to 20% of people, and is especially common in older adults.

  • Guitar luthier here. I know my stuff. This was a fantastic deal on a beginner instrument with all the accessories. Got two as gifts.

If you have a beef with the vendor, instead of going on a righteous crusade and trying to ruin the whole deal for the rest of us who may not agree with your assessments or their relevance, just state your concerns and move on. It's just arrogant to think you know best for an entire community. I do not personally use your criteria when seeking to maximize my spending within a budget. I look at the particulars of the deal itself (duh).

    • +1

shame I can't post a picture of a "crack" pipe. But would be entirely appropriate.

      • +2

Damn shame. Because pretending someone who disagrees with you is high on drugs totally justifies 1) trying to prevent OzBargainers from getting an objectively good deal; 2) failing to encourage this vendor to continue to do the right thing as they did this time (no jacking, no cheaper deal on eBay).

        • +2

          1) trying to prevent OzBargainers from getting an objectively good deal;

This post was never removed from the "New Deals" page, all members could see it.

          • +1

@WatchNerd: Not everyone checks New Deals my guy. If they did they wouldn't need the notifications system, or an actual life.

Regardless, whoever saw it come up saw an extremely low vote, even a ratioed vote. So it was a very decent deal that didn't resemble a deal at all. Just not very helpful to the community on the whole.

    • +3

Use the block function if you don’t want to see the comments/ don’t think it’s relevant/ want to support a non-deal spammer, champ.

      • +2

It wasn't non-deal spam. It was a cracking deal posted ethically. Exactly the kind of thing we should be encouraging.

Also, I never said seeing the comments bother me because I don't want to see them. I said there shouldn't be a pile-on campaign to neg a deal that is a genuine deal, although it is valuable to hear perspectives about past practices. Because it kills a deal that members might otherwise investigate further as a good deal for them in their situation. Not everyone thinks in the same ideological terms about a bargain or uses the same criteria. Not everyone thinks that consumers boycotting a genuine deal marketed ethically incentivizes companies to keep doing that in future. So just state your concern and let the community decide for themselves whether they'll buy this time.

        • +2

I said there shouldn't be a pile-on campaign to neg a deal that is a genuine deal

So by that logic are you ok with a pile-on of upvotes or members that upvote everything? Sometimes you need to dig a little deeper to see what's really going on.

I think your real issue is with the voting system & each member having the right to vote how they want within the guidelines. Nobody negged this deal because of the price, it was mainly for issues with the seller which is allowed.

          • +2

            @WatchNerd:

So by that logic are you ok with a pile-on of upvotes?

No. Not sure why you think that's logical, but thanks for asking.

Sounds like your real issue is with the voting system

Actually my real issue is still just what I said it was. I have no issue with the voting system. Of course negging for your reasons is "allowed." Of course it's a "right." As I said, by all means state the concern and let people decide.

But the way your concern was stated, with "you keep posting fake deals," it's reasonable to assume you must be considering this deal too and didn't just ignore it. Same with "the store can't be trusted" (to not price jack or post a genuine deal). Because those statements are actually false or misleading in the present if we are considering the current post and whether it's a good deal for the consumer. Yes, that happened in the past, on two or more occasions. No, it didn't happen again this time. So for all we know the correction has been made for the future too.

I'm just calling for a little more consideration of the deal before us, not zero, because a lot of people are trusting that comments are always doing that. Valid pushback to your comment might have been better expressed by OzDJ, but the clapback from "Judge" was next-level ridiculing (not in the spirit of this community), and only adds to the sense of using the comments to try to influence how OzBargainers should think/vote instead of letting them think for themselves.

This actually was a genuinely good deal in its own right, and there was nothing unethical about how it was posted. But it doesn't look like a good deal based on the voting. That isn't how OZB is supposed to work.

    • +1

for the rest of us who may not agree with your assessments

Can you update your blog with things people are and are not allowed to vote on that hurt your ego.

If you believe the neg vote is invalid, you can neg the voters comments and report them as an invalid neg…

      • Can you update your blog with

Why would I change what I wrote to say stuff I don't even think?

If you believe the neg vote is invalid

        I don't think that.

Maybe "thought police" was a fair call after all….

    • You have to be arguing with like 1 dude with multiple accounts. The comments in this entire deal don't make sense otherwise.

I have never seen this level of immaturity and hostility in OzB.

You speak the truth. Gratz on grabbing 2.

  • Mine arrived…looks good but its a completely differnet colour from the pictured and advertised MAHOGANY..mine is a caramel colour and shall be going back. The negative commentary about Donner stack up.

    • How is the return process? Where do you have to return to? Do you have to pay return shipping?

      • Horrendous, had two e-mails offering $20 compensation to go away. Told them now - my nephew had wanted the mahogany colour specifically. They said we need to transfer it to another department. 2 days and nothing. They're full of it.

        • -1

          @JamesBingo
Take the $20 compensation and sell the guitar to me. Win!

        • Hope you get a favourable resolution.

  • Received mine today. Absolutely blown away with what has been supplied for $79.99 delivered. I’ve been playing guitar for 25 years and I got this to have as a basher in the lounge for the niece’s and nephew’s. It has a great tone straight out of the box. There was a small amount of timber swarf in the body I had to remove but I’ve had this in new Martin’s before as well. I’ve purchased padded acoustic cases for $120+ that haven’t been as good quality. Not sure what you are complaining about @JamesBingo but as someone who has worked with timber for decades Mahogany has a significant variation in colour band. Don’t know why you’d send it back it’s a cracking guitar. Wish I had of purchased a few more as gifts.

    • I'm 'complaining' as the item which arrived isn't anything like that which was advertised.

I believe this is called a consumer's right to have what they ordered.

ps. You may have forgot to tick the box "I am associated with Donner Music (Hong Kong)" given your gushing 'review'

      • +1

If you're not happy with the color of it lets work out a deal.
I waited too long when the deal was posted and missed out on the deal.

I'm not fussed about the color as i wasn't overly impressed by the original color anyways as I'd just paint it.

        • I'm in Sydney if you want to come grab it?

          • +1

@JamesBingo: I'm about 1000 k's down the road in Mildura Victoria, else i would come grab it.

Auspost is the only other way for me.
If i don't get it I'm sure someone else closer to you will snatch it up in no time

            • @D33bz: Sorry, not practical or cost effective to ship. I'll keep waiting for Donner & the non existent customer service.

      • Didn’t forget to tick the box, I am not associated with Donner Music and it’s the first time I’ve purchased anything from them. The positive review is warranted, guitar is holding tune, sounds great and I think it is one of the better deals I’ve had in a while.

        • I don't give positvie reviewed when in reciept of goods which were as described or advertised.
