I have one from the last time they had it for this price. Happy with it so far. I was upgrading from an ET-2500 and it’s a massive step up. I love the Air Print function - doing prints straight from my phone.
Happy to answer any questions - my knowledge is limited though, I haven’t had it long.

    • What sort of ink life do you get based on your usage patterns? Do they dry up, clog etc like traditional inkjets if you're not using them regularly?

It looks like these are finally getting somewhere after all these years.

      • I had the clogging problem with my older epson ecotank which was their first model. I do a colour print a couple of times a week now just to prevent that. I don't know how much of a risk it is but I do it just to be on the safe side.

I get that it's apples and oranges but I still prefer colour laser over this, and I'll just get my photo prints done at Officeworks.

    • Do you use profiles at all/Do you need special profiles for decent prints on photo paper? I can't seem to find online profiles for local easily available photo papers…

      • I'm not sure about this. If you find out, let me know.

    • By prints, do you mean 5x7 style photos? If so how would this compare to say 40c prints from Officeworks?

      Update:
According to reviews, about the best quality for an Inkjet without going into expensive pigment inks.
Not quite the quality of the SC-P700 \ SC-P800 which use the pigment inks.
As the ET uses INK not Pigments, fading will be an issue (but at this price just re-print)

Yeah, I've been doing 6x4s and 5x7s straight from my phone. I love that it has a separate tray for photo papers so i don't have to change the paper to do photo prints.

I have a lower model version than this and no, the ink doesnt ever dry out or clog (i have had it for a few years and have only just added more ink). Easy to add ink using the ink bottles (no leaks, spills or anything) It is fantastic and means it is always ready to go. Not sure it is classed as an ink jet??

Can you fill in with 3rd party ink?

      • +1

I'm not sure about that but the cost of the ink is very low and the bottles are very large so I am not sure it would be worth the effort.

      • +1

        Yes. You can.
The ecotank series are infamous for being transformed into sublimation printers (even though they're not one by default)
        There is no fanciness required.
So using third party ink (though no real reason outside of sublimation) is super easy with the appropriate filling bottles.

I wouldn't bother - the epson inks are really good value as they are. The bottles are quite big. They're not interested in ripping you off for ink after you've paid this much for the printer.

We have an ET-4750 and it is absolutely fantastic. I am a teacher and my husband is also in education so we do heaps and heaps of printing. The initial cost of the printer is high but the ink is very cost effective and you get lots of it in a bottle. I think we are now moving onto our second bottles of some colours and we have printed a lot of stuff since bought it in 2019. Ours prints from our desktop, my work iPad and both of our phones flawlessly.

We bought our directly from Epson as a refurbished printer and has never had an issue with it.
