      No.

Ultimate gift cards disappeared from Officeworks early this year (and they only sold Ultimate Eats, Beauty & Spa and Thanks gift cards).

It kinda makes sense for Officeworks to not sell Ultimate gift cards anymore, because they themselves now participate in the Ultimate gift card scheme. Although Officeworks is not on the aforementioned Ultimate gift cards, the last thing they want is for Blackhawk Network to accidentally add Officeworks to one of the aforementioned Ultimate gift cards and then have savvy customers come in and do an endless price-beat inception by purchasing price-beaten Ultimate gift cards, then using them to purchase more price-beaten Ultimate gift cards, etc.

And yes, Blackhawk Network accidentally added JB Hi-Fi and The Good Guys to Ultimate Thanks and Ultimate Baby & Mum gift cards a couple of months ago, so there is precedence of Blackhawk Network stuffing up adding retailers to the wrong Ultimate gift cards.

  • so Ultimate Everyone is the best card to buy?

  • +1

How do you keep track of all your gift cards with the balance? I may buy the Ultimate and also looking at the Ampol one you posted. I currently have these egift cards - Woolworths, Wish, Coles, David Jones and Amazon. It's a pain at Coles self-checkouts as they don't scan and I can't type in manually. Woolworths self-checkouts also don't scan but I can type in manually.

    • +8

It depends on the gift card in question.

      • Gift cards issued by Woolworths Group: I store them in the Woolworths Money app. I gave the Everyday Rewards app a go, but I found it was too slow to load gift cards, it does not support all types of Woolworths Group gift cards, plus it does not have any way to record notes or a nickname for each card.

      • Gift cards that can be redeemed using a barcode + PIN (e.g. Coles Group, JB Hi-Fi): I store them in Stocard, using the description feature to record the PIN and available balance. It is a manual process to keep track of them (compared to the Woolworths Money app), but Stocard works really well with the Flybuys scanners at Coles. I’ve noticed newer Coles self checkouts being rolled out in my area, and those have product scanners that can read barcodes off a mobile screen.

      • Gift cards that can be redeemed using a code (e.g. Amazon, Apple): I leave the gift cards in a pile at home and place a sticky note (or write on the gift card) with the balance and/or the percentage discount I bought it at.

      • Gift cards that must be redeemed physically (e.g. AmpolCash, Coles Mastercard gift cards): I place a sticky note on it and track the available balance and the percentage discount I bought it at. I usually carry them in its own dedicated gift card wallet. (Yes, I have so many physical gift cards that I need to carry a separate physical wallet…)

        Thanks again. That's dedication!

        • +4

Thanks. I sometimes question my sanity!

      • +2

I used to hate scanning Coles e-gift cards (because they were such a PITA) until I found out about Stocard which was a game changer!

      • +1

For GC you bought from coles/wws, will you check the balance immediately to make sure it’s activated properly?

Saw some people reported apple GC was not activated properly even showing ‘approved’ on the coles receipt.

Happened to one of my Coles MC bought last week, still under the investigation

      • Wow. This is so useful, thank you. I have been very haphazard to date with storing my cards. Ozbargainer fail!

I just had an interesting convo with person who works for this company (is it called Blackhawk?) at Eastgardens store. She said it was a "backend issue with Big W" that they couldn't offer the variable load for this promotion. She was not impressed with the lack of stock on the shelves.

I tried to pick her brain about other things which other OzBargainers might find useful. Apparently EB Games will be added to more/most cards in the near future? And more sports brands now that Rebel has gone. I also suggested Country Road/Witchery.

  • +2

If you're gonna pay for these with a CC then this is probably a better deal than Aldis because of their transaction fees, and they don't accept Amex.

  • So people using ultimate gift cards to purchase other gift cards like Jb because you couldn't use more than one online? So I guess that's another hassle to purchase things that go out of quickly when a great deal is available

  • @WookieMonster is "Home" also a part of promotion- It is not listed on the catalogue page.

    • +1

yes it is there's actually over 20 different cards but they can't print them all just make sure it's the $30 to $100 ones

  • you don't get rewards points on these purchases do you?

    • nope

    • -1

      You do get points

      • Only for Flybuys.

  • Had an order cancelled (due to failing verification process) from JB using an Ultimate Home card online (has sufficient balance)… also can't use the same Perks voucher now when trying to order again so trying to get the order reinstated.

  • I get mixed up with the amount of deals and gift cards that come up on offer.
As I might be away at work and not able to use at jb hifi store.
Do these let you use online or is there a way I can exchange to actual jb hifi gift cards to allow me.

  • Sorry if it’s been answered. How many can I buy in one transaction ?

  • Tonight I was checking out the current stock when I witnessed some of the staff grabbing bunches of the gift cards and putting them in a really obscure place but still on the shop floor for customers to purchase. I'm not sure if it was the workers stashing for their own purchase or if they were directed by the store….

    • I haven't bought these gift cards before. Where are these cards usually located?

    • I call that BS they doing so intentionally to benefit their own mates and family. Like a passcode locked to these gift cards.

      This practice should be reported

  • Tried in store now in NSW with no discount, so I walked away

    • 10% off starts tomorrow

      • Oh I see thanks for the heaps up I’ll give it a try tomorrow.

Dear Mr Wookie. Do you know if you can purchase gift cards in Coles using flybuy points? I can't even get an answer from Flybuys about this.

  • I saw 500$ Ultimate home in BiG W, does it have 10% off too or only upto 100$

  • When you buy say a $100 GC for ultimate everyone.

Can I use say $60 at JBHIFI then the other $40 at a different store?
Or does the gift card only allow you to shop at the one store that you first purchase from?

    • +1

No, it can be used multiple times at different stores until balance reaches $0 or card expires.

      • Thank you!!

  • The new HIM phyical card in BigW does not seem to have EB games and JB hifi on them on the picture. Are these limited?

    • I bought HIM and it does not work at EB or JB online.

      • It seems like there are 2 versions. The list of retailers that Wookie posted is for the one that can be stored electronically - see my comment below

  • Officeworks is not listed on the physical $100 HOME card. There's nothing in the website stating it no longer is redeemable, and is still listed on the $50 version. Does anyone know if it would still work?

    • it is on ultimate home website, i figured ultimate home will be working normal at officeworks

    • +1

So what I have learned today is that there are 2 versions of these cards. 1 you can add to apple wallet, google wallet, etc (there is a logo of these on the top left) and ones you cannot. Checking the back, you can also see additional functionality that you do not find one those without it like converting them to other store gift cards. Those with electronic capabilities have more vendors compared to those that don’t. I would play it safe and not get the cards if the desired vendors are not in the pic

      • My HIM gift card has a card number that looks like a visa number (16 digits), a CVV, a 4 digit pin, a PCN (proxy card number), a number under the barcode, and an electronic use only number. Tried them all at EB/JB and none worked but didn't try instore.

        • If your card has both eb games and jb hifi then that’s the card that you should be able to use electronically. You can hop online and convert it to jb hifi card or eb games thru the ultimate site and use the respective gc online

          • @Brakus: I thought it did but it actually doesn't. I was going by what their website which says EB/JB are included for "him" but did not know they had variations of the same card name.

Edit: Tried converting it through the Ultimate website and says card is not recognised. What a pain.

            • +1

@Yuri Lowell: I think you can only use that in store. I didn't buy any of them after I found out that these cannot be converted online and that I cannot have both JB and EB on the same card.

              • @Brakus: Well, I managed to add it to my Google Wallet and it has JB and EB as well as bunch of other retailers on it but when I try to verify it for use online use it says "an unexpected error occurred". Maybe it will work in store?

                • @Yuri Lowell: Got it to work at JB!!! Just had to use it as a credit card. No idea if the Google Wallet works or not but at least it worked at JB.

                  • @Yuri Lowell: Nice! I’ll go purchase these then. Does it have EB games too?

                    • @Brakus: On Google Wallet it does but I could not verify it online and it was rejected by EB online when attempting to pay with it. Maybe it would work in store but again I did not pay with Google Wallet so I'm not sure if it was even working. I would say it's still risky… but it should work at JB as a credit card.

  • +2

Thanks @WookieMonster saved me a further $100 off my TCL65835 from TGG

  • So just to confirm, if we order an Ultimate Home gift card, we can simply use the redemption code on JB’s website ?

    • You enter the details of the card in the debit/credit card section. Can only use one card per transaction.

  • +1

HIM do not work at EB online. I verified mine is activated but EB won't accept the card.

  • I haven't bought these cards before. Still undecided.
No stock of Home $100 at 2 Big W I rang.

  • Can you stack 'The Good Guys' Gift Cards?

I.e. Buy $2000 of TGG Gift Cards and use them at TGG to purchase 1 TV ?

Looking at Ultimate Home to use at JB Hi-Fi, Officeworks or The Good Guys.
Can I please check if this is how you use the physical card (new Visa version)? Thanks.

Instore - select Credit, then pin number.

JB Hi-Fi - no limits on number of cards.
The Good Guys - possibly maximum 5 cards. I rang Good Guys today who wasn't sure.
Officeworks - possibly no limits. I rang Officeworks today who wasn't familiar with the Ultimate card. .

    Online - type expiry 12/2029

    JB Hi-Fi - possibly maximum 1-2 cards.
The Good Guys - possibly maximum 1 card. Good Guys didn't know.
Officeworks - no gift cards can be used online according to Officeworks.

Card needs to be exchanged to the retailer before using online.

Ultimate website: Please note that online merchants cannot perform split tender payments, so the amount of the purchase needs to be less or equal to the value of the card. If the amount of your purchase is greater than the value of your card, please use our exchange card service to make a purchase.

TGG is unlimited / patience of the operator instore. I just did 10x this morning

  • +1

I managed to get my Ultimate HIM to work at JB but not EB.

At EB it won't be accepted as a gift card or credit card.

At JB it won't work as a gift card but did work as a credit card.

On my 3rd attempt at https://exchangeyourcard.com.au/ it let me use it but the retailer list was complete garbage.

Added to my Google Wallet and appears to be valid as contactless payment at many retailers (including JB/EB) but did not test it. I could not verify it for online use as it encountered an error.

Overall, avoid this crap like the plague. I don't even know if I just got lucky with JB or not.

    • +1

Good that you managed to use at JB. Too much hassle for $10 savings.

      • Yup, completely not worth the effort. I was more annoyed that I would be stuck with $100 to spend at BCF or Rebel…

    • +3

      Hilarious review:
DO NOT! and l mean DO NOT! purchase this gift card (except if it’s for someone you hate)
      published 5 months ago
This gift card is so hard to use. They don’t even have proper instructions to explain how to use this. It is so confusing. It took 3 hours to figure out.

      https://www.productreview.com.au/listings/ultimate-gift-card…

      • I have no problem using it at all. I use it for jbhifi, petcircle. Transaction went smooth!

        • It works well at JB Hi-Fi but not some other stores. Most of the problems reported seem to be online use.

          • @trixieb: I bought from JB Hifi online was fine too

            • @ivyholmes: Just wondering how many cards could you use online. I wasn't sure if it was 1 or 2 or more.

              • +1

@trixieb: I think you need to exchange it for a JBHifi card if you want to use multiple them online. I only use 1 card as I only have a small transaction. Treat them as visa cards which one transaction only one card applies online.

                • @ivyholmes: Can you buy Jb GC online using these UltimateGC?

                  • @CarbonFour: I think you can give a try won't hurt

                  • @CarbonFour: No, will more than likely fail verification.

Also they doesn't always work fine for JB online, I used an Ultimate Home card as payment and the verification failed once, worked the other two times though @ivyholmes

Lost a Perks voucher because of that (says it's been used now even though the order was cancelled and refunded), which I'll be trying to get back now (or have the order reinstated, but I was told on chat they can't reinstate).

                    • @MiscOzB: So much trouble then, I think those rewards points from supermarkets are a safer option

                    • @MiscOzB: I don't know about exchange ultimate to jb gc online as i've never tried

                      • @ivyholmes: I meant I used the Ultimate card to try to buy a game at JB online and it failed the verification, worked later though.

But yeah these don't seem to be able to buy JB gift cards online. I've been successful previously, but I guess that was some other (older?) Ultimate/TCN card, not the Ultimate cards in this deal.

                        • @MiscOzB: Yea I think it could be a hit and miss, but for me it's worthed, considering the discount I've received so far for those giftcard

  • +2

https://www.ultimategiftcards.com.au/all-retailers/ If you mouse-over the retailer it shows you whether you can use in-store and/or online. EB says in-store and exchange card only. Interestingly Adidas says in-store only, I used these online earlier in the year around April but I guess they must have changed recently

  • Him has no EB Games yet is listed on their website, I’m so confused….

    • What do you mean, that it's not shown on the physical card? Same with me. On mine there's only 19 retailers shown, but website shows 33. Hopefully just a lack of space thing on the packaging because I bought these specifically for EB Games

      • Yeah not on the packaging itself. Was buying for EB Games too, ended up putting it back. Only ones left, people are quick. Let us know if it works for you at EB Games, for future reference

        • I think their packaging is just outdated. Seems like Yuri Lowell above used it at JB and worked fine even though JB isn't on the packaging. I won't be able to test my cards until my pre-order comes in. I was at BigW when it opened it's doors this morning, shelf was full of gift cards but no Ultimate Everyone. Wonder if staff snagged them or store just had none.

  • +1

HODL for 15% Black Friday coles?

    • +2

Definitely, we should at least know by Monday if they'll be running a 15% off deal or not for the catalogue starting next Wednesday.

So if not, you'd still then have a couple of days to buy at 10% off from Big W (assuming sufficient stock).

      • See my post below, you can stack this with the 10% off for being an everyday rewards extra member. You save almost 20% that way :)

  • What's the limit for purchasing, saw a lady that just grabbed the entire lot of ultimate everybody

    • I got ten per transaction.

On one of my other trips, I did ask if I was able to buy ten more and the operator said yes.

  • I have used HIM cards before institutes at ebgames, they just have to be used like a credit card and not a gift card

  • +12

Just to let everyone know. For whatever reason, you can use your everyday reward extra 10% coupon on the total price. This means you can buy $500 for $405!!!

    • +1

Did this also. Makes it worth while to sign up for the trial under another account to rinse and repeat

    • Is this applied automatically after you scan your Everyday Rewards?

      • +2

Prompted to use 10% monthly discount, press yes and winner winner chicken dinner

        • Cheers will try this. It’s odd because on the ‘What products can I not apply my Extra Discounts on?’ It says gift cards. Hopefully they don’t close this loophole
