            • @Shanetrain: The other commentator noted he was able to use Klarna to pay with the discount. I would suggest trying for that zip pay at least for me had a credit limit that was over the cost of the laptop.

              • @Brrrrt: Klarna wont let me for some reason! Not sure how i can do it now :(

          • @Brrrrt: Is it worth paying the extra $350 since i don't think i can zip pay plus paying for more ram and a better ssd?

            • @Shanetrain: no since its cheaper to upgrade by yourself.

              • @Brrrrt: I also have no idea about installing more ram and an extra ssd, who should i get to do that for me? 🤣 not sure if a local computer place would.

    • Where do u get asus rog strix g15 with an rtx 2070?
I cant find it, can you please share?

    • Asus ROG Strix is a far more premium brand and quality than the Intel NUC. May I see the link to that Asus deal?

      • Was a second hand buy off gumtree

        • Not really apples to apples comparison since this deal is for a new one with warranty.

        • Hahaha I knew it was second hand

    • Can I ask where? I'm in the market for a laptop and missed out on this deal

      • +1

Was just on gumtree in my local area mate.

  • +1

anyone know if it comes windows pre install

    • +1

      no

      • -3

How do you look at the laptop without Windows??

        • buy oem key from eBay for $10

          • +1

@shabaka: Out of curiosity, where do you buy these OEM keys for so cheap? I checked eBay and the cheapest is $50!

            • +2

              @sin069: He said EBAY

            • @sin069: last time I had to buy one was in Feb I think, and I can't find the purchase record for it for some reason. was $7 roughly

those are single activation codes, meaning you don't get to keep OS if you switch to a different device

          • @shabaka: Those are probably not legit or dev licenses

        • +1

          Through the door?

    • +6

What are you freaking on mate? 11th gen i7, full powered RTX3060, QHD 165Hz with DP ports via USB C. Last deal which are most similar to this one was the Lenovo Ideapad Gaming and that one was still more expensive than this minus the QHD and full powered RTX. As for RAM and SSD you could easily upgrade anyway (another 8GB for around $37-$40 and NVMe M.2 SSD is on sale frequently for around sub $100 for 1TB. So in total you spend around $1,340-1,400 which are still pretty decent for specs like this all things considered.

        • +2

Apples to oranges. You can't compare a gaming laptop to a smartphone.

        • +3

Then show us a better laptop deal.

The Snapdragon 8.1 has pathetic performance compared to the Intel 11th Gen and RTX 3060, that screen is tiny and has a slower refresh compared to the laptop, it has the same amount of storage but can't be upgraded, it has less total RAM (8GB + 6GB) and the RAM is slower, and it lacks a physical keyboard. How is that phone a good deal compared to this laptop? It's like you don't know what you are talking about.

          • +2

@FabMan: Just looking at the raw numbers, not actually thinking it through it seems.

        • +2

Again, you're talking about an Android phone which is ARM based and cannot run Windows. I would love to see your phone handling Cyberpunk or GTA V.

Please by all means post a similar deal with these kinds of specs for less than $1,200 and then I'm all ears. Otherwise please refrain from profanity and do your own research as well mate.

@Grey 13: Feeding the troll boys

            • +2

@LoserScott: Hey it's all good mate. I'm looking forward to your "best phone deal" and your "good laptop deal". Hell I'll even be there and give an upvote when everyone else downvote you, how does that sound?

              • -8

@Grey 13: Do I get paid for these deals?
                Let me know…..

So there's no incentive bases on your statement

Hell I'll even be there and give an upvote when everyone else downvote you, how does that sound.

Lazy toxic people do not deserve incentives.

                • +3

@LoserScott: You are the lazy and toxic person here, spouting how you won't help others, you're also ignorant. I doubt you are going to ever have anything worthwhile to say, everyone should block your useless comments.

                • +1

@LoserScott: I mean if all Ozbagainers are like you looking forward to getting paid by posting deals then I guess we'd have none of these awesome deals for anyone anymore.
Also even after all my comments asking if you can find a deal to match this one to back up your point, you still keep pusing your own agenda on me and comparing literally a PHONE to a LAPTOP for their RAM and STORAGE capacity even though they are essentially two very different devices utilising for different purposes.

And I am the "lazy toxic people". Well so be it, whatever makes you feel better buddy. You seem to be in need of it more than I do.

    • Lenovo y90 only has 7inch screen geez.

Even Aldi TV has better specs than that

  • Can't find option to add Windows.
Is it available to add via BPC?

    • Try messenging them.

    Stop spendingggggggg

    • +2

but le ozbargain god called-it wants sacrifices

      • Lolll

  • My friend got this and I was jealous, it's just an Intel NUC which has extremely nice build quality, even the packaging is very cool.

It's the max tdp version of the 3060, but the build doesn't look it, surprisingly slim.

The two NVMe slots are different, from memory the closest to the CPU was 4x lanes & the other was 2x lanes.

  • +15

i read this as Karen M15 laptop initially. "id like to talk to task manager"

  • -5

I don't think it's an amazing deal when you consider you have to buy windows, upgrade the RAM and SSD - and use a BNPL to access the deal price. Lenovo Legion 3060 been as low as 1600 recently.

    • I would beg to differ, the cheast L5p 3060 deals were 1695 so I say thats more in line at 1.7 grand. Now, the main differences you get with the L5p deals compared to this one is 8gb ram, 256gb extra storage and a windows licence. Is the difference worth 500 dollars? I dont think so. Lets not kid ourselves, people who buy this are on a budget and most are going to be pirating a key, as such the windows license price shouldnt even be taken into consideration here.

      • +1

The Legion also has a considerably better / brighter screen. People mentioning issues of coil whine here in the comments and bad OEM control software etc. 3060 laptops (like the gigabyte clevo chassis) have been available for like $1500 since the 30 series released back in 2020 - and are currently on eBay for like $1250 with cashback/gift cards/eBay plus etc.

        • +7

Legion have a better screen, that is true, but the price difference is still there, and QHD165hz is still plenty good. On the other hand, I can argue the X15 come with single ranked ram that the legion dont, and come with better wifi card etc, of course you can argue that the legion gets a mux switch, and I can argue that the 11800H is better in games compared to 5800H etc. The argument can go on but at the end of the day the sharp price difference is there.

Critisim towards the driver/firmware problems were valid, but as the other ozbargain noted thats a year ago, plenty of firmware and driver updates would have dropped in the meantime.

3060 laptops (like the gigabyte clevo chassis) have been available for like $1500 since the 30 series released back in 2020.

Heres the issue, these 3060 laptops are not the same, the Gigabyte G5/A5 series uses aged Clevo chasis from 4 years back - Jarrod was reviewing metabox with 1660tis in the same chasis as the Gigabytes G5s, same can not be said for the intel x15 which is a current 2021 design just as the legion 5 is. The difference meant the x15 have a far better io, slim, metal build (gigabyte was full plastic mind you), per key rgb keys (the legion dont even get that), cooling for 140w 3060-2021 legion 5 does 130w only, and comes with the new 11800H-gigabyte machines was using 10500H and 10870Hs that just dont stack up, not to mention apart from the first drop which had 240hz panels, they only come with poor 144hz panels with bad response time.

          • @Brrrrt: I agree with @Canberralad92 based on a user's experience in this thread: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/12929214/redir

90 degrees is too hot for sustained usage and no doubt without a cooling pad the X15 will throttle and it's LOUD

I've got a legion 15 2060 and the cooling is second to none: At full fans the noise is more like a woosh of air and completely bearable and it runs rock solid cooling for hours on end at very bearable ~70C temperatures without a cooling pad and there are plenty of reviews reporting excellent cooling performance

If you can afford to jump to a Legion it's worth the extra few hundred (especially after you upgrade the hopeless RAM and SSD) just due to reliable performance alone

With such high temps on the X15 based on my experience with other laptops after a couple of years it'll be flaky performer unless you re-paste and re-pad the entire cooling system just to go back to poor default cooling performance anyway

With a Legion it'll last much longer plus the resale value is undoubtably better

            • @s3n: Lol mate i appreciate your support, glad there are a few people who know a bit about computers here than the average bargainer, but prepare to be downvoted - there are some serious fanboys of this laptop in this thread. I didn't even rag on it that hard, I just said it's not an amazing deal and upset a few folks apparently. Rubbish screen, average keyboard and cooling, average OEM software, have to waste time installing and buy windows yourself (forced to run the gauntlet of cheap stolen windows keys), have to waste time shopping for and installing extra parts etc. And people acting like it's the deal of the century.

              • +2

@Canberralad92: Well +$300 is nothing if you're Batman.

For the rest of us I'm fine with paying the $300 less. It's not an amount most of us can just cough at lol. This is ozb not oz pay $300 more for slightly better screen.

Nuc is lighter, better processor, higher powered rtx 3060. You can get rid of downsides of heating with a simple undervolt. Job to change parts takes like 1 hr max. Shopping for parts because it's made simple for you by matching Kingston ram is like 30 minutes.

Not to mention, the other laptop is not available, sold out and will not be available in the near future, so anything that is said about it is kind of useless now. It's like saying you should have bought IdeaPad gaming 3070 for $1k at start of year lol.

In fact the review left by the ozb post said it's a good laptop. I really don't think the screen is rubbish compared to most laptops in the range. You're comparing with g15 and nitro in this price range and this screen blows them out of the water

      • +1

With eBay gift cards and cashback the price on the Legion was closer to 1600 recently.

        • +1

With eBay gift cards and cashback

I failed to see how getting a bnpl account is harder than having to buy ebay giftcards in advance and also waiting for cashback, sorry

    • As for Windows I guess there are workarounds by upgrading from a cheap Windows 10 key or remote activation. Or if you got grey moral standard a cheap Windows 11 Pro key will probably set you back around $40-80. Another 8GB RAM would probably set you back $40 at most and 1TB SSD NVMe would be around $90-120. So all in all I'd say max $1,450 for all the upgrades you were mentioning really which are still a very solid deal or as far as I could see probably the best budget gaming laptop to date.

      • And still have a laptop that burns a hole in your table plus give you an earache and is uncomfortable to play on for a long period of time

Yeh no thanks Legion for me $200 extra to skip all that is a bargain

  • Does one require zip money for this?

    • zip money may not get you enough credit. You can actually use the code and switch to another payment method.

  • Thanks OP. Got one through Klarna with an extra 8gb stick of ram.

They offer pickup from Mount Waverly for those who live in the VIC south-eastern suburbs.

  • +1

Why are people using klarna, instead of a credit card?

  • Owners, would you kindly comment on real world battery life given the absence of a MUX switch..? Thanks in advance.

  • Whats the body made of? Would this be robust enough for a school BYOD laptop?

    • +1

      Magnesium alloy.
      Probably.

    • I dont know how well the battery would hold up. But otherwise it looks stealthy enough to fit into a school setting only a bit big

    • This is a gaming notebook with 1.9kg weight. are you sure to use it for a school laptop?

  • Why are you calling it a nuc?

    • +3

Intel calls it a nuc. Blame Intel for messing up the naming schemes i guess :/

  • Klarna seems to be struggling to verify my identity with both drivers licence and Medicare card

    • Managed it in the end but my spending limit's too low to get it </3

      • I think you can pay using credit card/bank transfer too

  • Great Price !! How does this compare with this laptop CPU/GPU ? .. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/709197

    • +2

Same gpu, similar cpu, better screen, much less edgy design

  • A very board question.
Consider I add another 8GB RAM
Can this run 90% of all PC games currently available at least Medium settings with 60 fps?

    • very much so.

  • One issue I see with this laptop is USB C charging.

    • I thought the Thunderbolt 4 charges while outputting video. What would the issue be?

      • As far as I understand, this does not charge. for charging you have to use the dedicated charger.

    • Do you mean that it doesn't have USB-C charging?

    • Wont find many high powered gaming laptops charging via usb

      • Stupid tho, no one is expecting it to charge whilst gaming but at least when you are doing normal shit, 60W USB charger is more than enough to slowly charge it.

  • Can anyone recommend a good USB C dock that would match this well? Looking for a dock that allows connection to 2x 24" 1080P screens.
Was hoping for USB C charging, but listening to the youtube video, sounds that this laptop won't do UCB C charging which is a small drawback.

    • in my understanding. This is a gaming notebook. it requested a 140w power supply. Most type C dock or type C monitors only supply max 90w power via type C port. there is not enough to support this gaming notebook.

      • So would it actually charge but just still drain with use or not charge at all? 🤔 Does anyone know?

      • Thanks. From the youtube video and other comments here, it sounds like we can rule out USB C charging aspirations.

Any thoughts on display support via a hub, and a hub that would take advantage of discreet GPU?

  • +1

OMG at this price it's so tempting! Can I expect to use this laptop for a potential 4-5 yrs? As I have used my current ThinkPad yoga for 5 yrs without a problem. Can I expect similar quality from Intel?

  • What's the sRGB coverage and response time on this panel?

    Edit: 62% and 5ms?

    • It's a $1200 laptop with dedicated graphics - the internal monitor is probably shyte.

A decent external monitor will run you $400-500 alone and something that's actually 'OK' will cost upwards for $1000.

    • +1

94.5% srgb, 62 is for the fhd model

  • how heavy is this?

    • +1

under 2kg (1.9kg) if you add all cables and charger it goes up-to 2.3 kg.
Giving the specs and build the weight is not an issue

  • +1

can $1200 biluild a better gaming performance desktop than this, already has a 2k monitor and a laptop for outdoor

    • Very keen to know this

    • +2

@alexxL & @bangalore - Absolutely. Whack a 6600xt/6600 together with cheap ryzen 5600 and 16gb ram and will outperform this any day of the week. Stretch to a 6700xt and it will be significantly better / wipe the floor with this laptop for gaming.

If you dont feel like building / arent able to this tower from BPC would thrash this laptop in gaming performance all day for $1099 plus shipping. https://www.bpctech.com.au/product/sv-syberspring01-siren-vo…

  • Looks like its sold out now.

  • How's this for an additional SSD and ram upgrade? Not to sure if they can work on the laptop…
