Does anyone know if the base is also "non stick? I have a recent purchase of a Tefal frypan that is absolutely deadly slick on a Gas hob.

    • +1

"The bottom of the pan is too slippery, have to keep on holding it to keep it still, not user friendly while cooking"

    • The wok will move on the gas hob if stirring vigorously. I usually hold the wok if I have to stir the food a lot.
This wok is heavy and solid, heats up very quick….

  • Yes it was slippery when I just got it, but after using it a few times it was fine.

  • is it Uncle Roger approved?

  • Titanium grade Teflon is the 2nd best (pretty high up)

  • +3

Does not suit induction if anyone is asking

    • You're kidding I just bought one damm ittt

      • Try cancel it. Amazon are usually pretty good with that as long as its not too far into the fulfilment process.

        • Yep did

Thanks for letting us know this

    • Wok on induction??
You're making Asian ancestors cry in their graves

    • My one actually worked on induction…I have to, as my old studio apartment only has induction. But I managed to do basic stirfry, panfry, steam, etc.

Get one of these. $40, no lid, but better Teflon grade (Teflon Platinum plus).

    Shame it's not dishwasher safe….

    • +3

"The sautepan fits all gas, electric and ceramic hobs, is oven safe up to 210° and dishwasher safe."

      • Says Handwash only on the front page…

        • Tefal will recommend hand wash to prolong the life of the product, but they are dishwasher safe. From tefal's website:

"To extend the life of your product, we recommand hand washing only. In case of dishwasher use, it is preferable to use gentle detergents such as liquid, gel, or powder, not tablet nor sachet. Certains parts may become dulled and discolored due to action of corrosive detergents. Our guarantee does not cover this type of wear."

Hard Anodised products are NEVER dishwasher safe. i've used several and the bottom and some of the inside coating started to melt if there is even a slight scratch.

      • +1

        Non-stick doesn't survive dishwashers well

    • +1

It’s non stick, why would you want to put it in the dishwasher? Just scrub it with a dish brush.

  • I just bought a couple of Ninja Foodi pans off Amazon and they look and feel very good (but of course the usual bunch of bad reviews you seem to get on any pan page). Same with toasters and kettles.

  • Bought one. Hopefully it's slippery

  • +3

This is the 4th one I bought. Each one last approx. 2 years, if you are careful of what you put in it, it may last longer.
The only downside is the weight, very heavy on the wrist.
    Otherwise perfect for almost everything.
I would argue the coating is above-average Teflon.
Highly recommend it, didn't find anything on the market that's close to this. Usually around the $75-90 range, when it's on sale at Myers/DJ

How about a carbon steel wok that will last a lifetime with proper care and seasoning??

      https://www.amazon.com.au/Traditional-Hammered-Wok-731W88-Cr…

      • +2

Also have one, used for cooking hard/sharp food (eg. bones)
Doesn't work well in the dishwasher. Seasoning and caring are too much hassle. (yes, I am lazy)

        • +1

Yeah I did spend a few hours seasoning my wok when I first got it but it's been pretty good since then.

And you only need to water to wash it off after and suprisingly everything comes off clean.

Only other thing you need to do is oil coat it after so that it doesnt rust.

      • Just get the cooker king wok from wws, much cheaper.

        • I cannot recommend this wok from Woolworths enough. There is such little info on it but for the $18 I paid, it doesn’t matter.

I ended up getting two extra as spares.

    • didn't find anything on the market that's close to this

Circulon 30cm Steel Elite Deep Covered Skillet, which works on induction stove as well.

    • Only 2 years. Thats dissapointing. I still have pans from at least 5 years ago and still going strong

    • It's Titanium Teflon 40 microns thick and better than the cheaper ones https://thecookwareadvisor.com/what-do-you-mean-its-not-tefl…

Prime has made people lazy. Besides the price was good till it lasted.

      • Don't need prime, its >39

        • Thanks. This is exactly what I meant. Prime has made people Lazy !!
          yawn

          • @PopCounty: How is it lazy? I rather not pay for fuel or transport costs if I can avoid it.

It takes a lot of commitment to find the best deals online rather than just being lazy and going to a department store and buying whatever they have there so I don't have to research what's a good deal.
