I am replacing all my non stick Cookware with stainless steel for health reason and I thought this is a great price and I read that Scanpan is a good brand.

at last a brand that doesn't count lids as pieces, just the pot/pan

    • +1

      Scanpan is cooked

    • the Impact line is designed in Denmark, but China is the place of manufacture.
The other comparable set is by Tramontina, made in Brazil.
      Both are 3 ply.

Seems like Scanpan is the most common brand in Australia though, a lot of the Tramontina stuff is out of stock at the moment.

Scanpan does 10 year warranties though too.

      • I have a Tramontina chef knife and it is rubbish

  • What do people recommend in stainless steel if not this?

I'm thinking about moving for the same reasons

Need something big for pasta sauce (maybe 6l)

Maybe something about half the size

And few decent deep fry pans

See above. You could always buy a couple of fry pans for searing.
Get a pressure cooker for you 6 litre pot for double duty?

      • Cheapest I could find:
        https://www.ikea.com/au/en/p/ikea-365-pressure-cooker-stainl…
They do, do cheap stainless pots, too.

      • I would go the InstantPot. It is stainless steel and programmable for various cooking options, including Sous Vide if you get the right one.

        • Electronic pressure cooker has changed my life. instantpot with the ss pot is awesome for bone broths as it doesn't get scratched up like non stick.

@rainbowunicorn: We use it for rice, Yogurt, stews, Sous Vide steaks, soups, porridge, etc. it really is a game changer.

For small size, the ikea Sensuell were great but only saw a frypan last time i went in store.
I do like the pans from Essteele.
I would love to get All-Clad too but they are definitely not a bargain.

      • All Clad is considered top notch (and 5 ply I think?), but so pricey.

I've got a STS (the newer? version of the impact) coming, probably will use that for frying pan, I'm looking for something with a decent size base, like at least 28cm+, deep enough for a larger meal prep scenario.

I'm looking at Tramontina, but they don't have much available currently in what I'm looking for, I think the one I want is like 200+. https://tramontinaaustralia.com.au/products/tramontina-grano…

There's also Cuisinart multi-clad, but can't find much of those either.

Otherwise there's the higher end Scanpan, the Clad 5 stuff… .

Aside from those you'll have to look at high end stuff like All Clad, Made in, Demeyere. Oh there's also an Australian brand called Solidteknics, also quite pricey.

I liked the 5 ply set from Costco if you can wrangle a card for a day.

Bought the Scanpan Commercial Cookware 5pc Set

Nice heavy bases and works well with induction cooktop.

    • Just found the same set at Minimax for the same price. I put a posting up.

I’ve had 2 Scanpan Impact fry pans for more than 10 years and find them really great.

  • My favourites are the Mauviel Carbon Steel Nonstick Frying Pans!

The best budget friendly knock offs are the OXO Obsidian Pre-Seasoned Carbon Steel
