      • I think I'm just going to close the card anyway. Not worth keeping it open for 4 additional months to just receive a $95 credit, and I might still receive it anyway given it's coming from Virgin it seems.

        • Can you check if you get a pro-rata refund from ANZ as well?

    I also haven’t gotten the text or email yet. I expect that customers are qualified on a monthly basis so it might be that we need to wait until around 5th-10th of Jan until the next round or something. I hit the $1500 spend around the 8th of Dec and have since auto-redeemed the points. So I’ll wait until mid-Jan before following up.

  • I forgot to turn on auto redemption…. Have put about 6k through the card. Have just turned it on so will transfer 7k points to velocity tomorrow.

  • So called ANZ - apparently it's because i was 9 days away from my 12 month exclusion period which is complete horseshit.
    I closed my card in like July which is MONTHS before October..

    Anyway they have put in a 'request' and said it should probably be fine.

    Will keep everyone posted. Just goes to show, you should get a formal letter when closing credit cards so this doesn't happen.

    • Well, the dates do show in creditsavvy.
      Also, when you cancel an ANZ card, if it is your only card, your ANZ internet banking will stop working. If you have more than one ANZ account, it will disappear from your internet banking.

      There are ways to keep an eye on it.

    Still waiting for the $95 Virgin Flight Credit - Hopefully sooner rather than later.

  • I’ve received my points etc and they are appearing in virgin velocity however when I attempt to redeem a flight it says insufficient points and that I only have 1k points, even though it says I have 75k points when I’m on the Home Screen and look at profile.
    Is this happening to anyone else? I didn’t think there were any exclusions with redeeming for flights?

    • When did you receive the points? I had this problem the other day when transferring points to a family member. Even though the points were showing in their account, I was getting an error when trying to book the flights saying not enough points. I think it takes a while for Virgin systems to all catch up.

      • Ahh maybe that’s it, but it’s been about a week since they transferred so I would have thought it would be working by now. Do you know how long is took for yours to work, or are you still waiting?

        • I gave up after even waiting overnight and still getting the same error, so ended up booking the flight with cash. Very annoying Virgin can't get their shit together.

      @alexandra39 There is a known bug in the system, it should prompt you to login again or try clicking back in web browser and trying again and it should work.

      Otherwise log out search for the flight and once you select the flight it should prompt you to login and system will se you have enough points.

      • Thanks for your reply. Just tried this and no luck still saying I only have 1k points! Think I’m going to have to call someone ughhhh. If you have any other tips let me know.

    Followed up with ANZ just before Christmas, they advised the correct offer is applied and they told me at the time to wait until the whole 3 months has passed (which is next week).

    Is it worth chasing them up again?

    • Yes, I’m waiting too. I met the spend requirements before the end of October so it’s coming up to the three months. I’m sure I’ve met every condition.

      I’m not expecting anything to happen automatically at this point and it could end up being a hassle to chase them up.

    Now I cant turn it on because it wont let me enter my velocity number, tried using multiple browsers. It keeps auto deleting whatever I enter.

    • Might be an issue with the rewards website. I finally got my velocity number added by doing a manual transfer. However it wont let me turn on auto redemption.

  • For those who are long awaiting points, SC, cash back etc I called up ANZ Rewards (as above, can't help they don't do loyalty scheme admin) so called up ANZ. Initially they tried to phob me off (back) to ANZ Rewards but eventually looked it up, confirmed I met the spend criteria and they manually asked for my velocity number as it "wasn't in the system".

    Told them, no $heet, you're supposed to send me an SMS/email when I hit my spend, never happened. They pushed back that points will come max after 3 months after opening the card or by the 3rd card statement. I should get my points by the end of the week.

    Pays to ring up ANZ, they are hopeless!

    • Called ANZ as well today, the told me I need to wait the 3 months and basically call again in February. Told them I know other people who signed up and already received the points etc and do I need to give them my Velocity Number over the phone. She took my Velocity Number then checked and said there is no need to enter it into their system because auto redemption is turned on and I need to wait 3 months and call back in Feb.

  • If I activate the travel insurance on the card through Allianz but then cancel the credit card before the trip will the travel insurance be void?

    • You should definitely cancel the card before travelling to save a few bucks of annual fee. What's the worst that could happen?

    Called them this morning: 'I can't see why you haven't received any of it. Maybe it has something to do with your card that was closed in 2020, like maybe it's still… there? I'll email the rewards team…'

    The initial email we got says it could take up to 4 months to have the flight credit, so not sure what the concerns are?

      Yes, I did. Closed my account around 10th Jan. Got the travel bank welcome/account creation email on 19th Jan, but the travel bank balance is still $0.

    • I asked about a refund whilst closing my account but they wouldn’t budge for me. Not too disappointed considering what was received.
