This is a great deal. I would be all over this if it weren't for the fact that I had closed a ANZ Rewards Black card in May this year.

    • +1

Same. I just closed a Rewards Black to churn something else. This is a much better deal than the Citi Rewards 60k VFF that I've just signed up for.

    • +1

The ANZ Black was a much better deal tho.

I'm closing my Amex, and I can start flipping any other bank now.

I would rather a deal on the ANZ Black tho!

      • Just trying to understand how long does it take to get the points added into the account . I opened the anz black account mid June and would have reached the min spend in about 2 statements time. Wondering how long does the points credit plus the refund of fees usually take ? I am worried I messed something ?

        • Have you payed off the money you spent?

I found with nab the points were credited after you repayed that minimum spend

          • @Edgecrusher: Yes I have done that. I pay off everything I owe pretty much every month. So that should have cleared in the first 3 months . Hopefully it should come in another month. Otherwise I’ll call ANZ to enquire

  • +3

When I look to apply it's saying 'Sorry, that offer cannot be found or has ended.'

  • +4

Looks like this one isn't active yet. Keep getting the following error message "Sorry, that offer cannot be found or has ended".

  • +3

"Sorry, that offer cannot be found or has ended."

    • +1

getting this as well. cannot signup

  • Roughly how much 75,000 VFF Points worth? one free domestic return flight ticket?

    • About 5 return flights between Sydney and Melbourne, excluding taxes

      • Surprised. Cancelling my Amex and switch to this. :)

    • The Pointhacks link has a table listing them, but you have to be in quick to get the rewards seats.

Most domestic flights one way are between 20-30k.

Melb <> Syd is 42k business class
Melb <> Gold coast is 60k business class

      • +4

I usually never use points to pay taxes as it has a very bad conversion rate (about .5c/pt).
The flight component is about 3c/pt for business and 1.5c/pt for economy with Virgin I found.

        So with that
Melb <> Syd Business reward would be 30k + $70 tax

      • Yes. Always pay tax in cash.

Also, domestic short haul business is rarely worth it, better off with Economy X if you need the leg room, there's much cheaper ways to get lounge access. I'd save the points for a lie-flat on international route

    • About 2,400 miles return.

    • Ome way to Europe with Etihad/Qatar, excluding $300 taxes.

  • +1

thanks, this will be my next churn n burn

already waiting on 150k vff from citi 2k loan deal

    • -1

You needed to get a minimum $10k loan

      • Not if you applied prior to September 30

  • +7

75k for 1.5k spent. Insane deal compared to Citi, Virgin Money and Westpac.

  • +1

    Ripper deal

  • +5

HOLY FK - WHAT A CRACKA

Too bad trying to close my 2nd card, looking to refinance soon :(

    • what a cracka hahahaha love it

  • any chance there might be an exclusive deal for ANZ Rewards Black ?

  • +1

    Cannot find the offer

  • +1

Am I eligible if I've held the ANZ Frequent Flyer Black Visa this year? Or is that a separate category?

    • +3

      yes you are.

      • Great, thanks!

    • +1

Ensure if applying for an offer, you don’t currently hold and haven’t opened or closed an ANZ Rewards Black, ANZ Rewards Platinum or an ANZ Rewards credit card in the last 12 months and meet all other offer eligibility criteria

I'm not a CC expert, read this on T&C

      • +1

Yeah I thought that may be the case, but was wondering if it's considered a rewards black card (seems it's not!)

  • -5

Sure, free points are good, but there is a $95 annual fee which puts me off

    • cos i had a loan with anz they have refunded this to me in the past

    • +17

you get $50 of it back plus 95 bucks of virgin credit so you're actually in the surplus. you're silly

      • -6

So what you're saying is, if I spend $95, I get to spend $95 with Virgin! Can't believe you managed to get +7 likes with this comment!

        • +1

          make it +12 likes ….

    • +1

The annual fee is offset by the $95 travel credit and $50 back.

      • We can only use for travel right?

        • Correct. Appears to be only redeemable for Virgin flights.

  • +1

Dang, this is even better deal than the ANZ Rewards Black.

    • +3

      Disagree.

The Rewards Black often comes with 180K points for $0 AF. 180K converts to 90K VFF. 25K VFF (90-75) is worth a minimum of $250 — way more than $50.

      • Does the Rewards Black also come with status credits?

        • +1

No. If you need them, this deal is the best option for you.

        • +1

Apologies, should be 15K more points, not 25K. My maths failed me!

      • Are we talking about this https://www.anz.com.au/personal/credit-cards/rewards/black/ ?

Only 80K points + $375 AF (0 for existing customers)

        • +1

That's the card. It often goes on offer for 180K + $0AF.

          • @vetopower: But only for the first year, right? Then you're on the hook for regular annual fees, moving forward.

            That's my understanding.

            • +2

@bargainerpro: No one keeps any of these cards beyond the first year.

              • +1

@vetopower: Aren't people's credit scores getting completely wrecked by getting new CCs and ditching them repeatedly?
I once questioned why my Score dropped a few points (still Excellent) and they mentioned that was likely the reason, as there was absolutely nothing at all there (I never pay my bills late, and there were 0 negative entries there).

I'm curious to know what people do to take advantage of these deals without getting their credit score destroyed in the process.

                Thanks

                • +2

@bargainerpro: The credit score value is just a number from Illion / Equifax / Experian came up by themselves - which unrelated with each others. Each of them came up with a different way to give a number base on your history. My score from Experian is at "Excellent" and "Average" with Illion.

Their scores have little effect on my next credit card application. Banks/Lenders will not use your credit score to determine your liability. They're having their own method to do that.

You will not "destroy" your score by apply and cancel credit cards regularly - perhaps may raise eyebrows to some lenders when they validate your history. If your history showing you have no late payments then should all be fine.

Sometimes, my score dropped a bit if I closed a card, but raised back after apply for a new credit card - go figure!!

FYI, I churned regularly, 5 cards this year so far (range from low to Premier type cards).

                  • @timhn:

Sometimes, my score dropped a bit if I closed a card, but raised back after apply for a new credit card - go figure!!

I second this point. I took a big mortgage recently and was expecting my credit score to dip, instead it raised by 50 points.

                  • @timhn: How do you meet the mimimum spends? To hard to change all my automatic debits and a lot of them charge fees for cards as oppose to direct debit.

Only so much health insurance i can prepay.

                    • @iwatchfatpplsleep:

                      • pay advance for : health insurance, council rate (use beem It to avoid fee), utilities
                      • buy giftcards to pay at WW/Coles - or any shops that you do that regularly. I'm also get 4% discount WW gc from my health insurance
                      • time your application about a month before big spending like holidays, car rego, home insurance etc. Xmas/NY also big spending for me :)
                    • +1

@iwatchfatpplsleep: i pay electricity and internet in advance, so i have a small lump of credit sitting in the accounts. I can pay for rent with Bpay via beemit and that counts and gives me points! Offer to be the one to pay first at friends and family dinners or events - that seems to rack it up really fast for me

                      • @sakurakiks: ANZ credit card do not consider Bpay via Beemit as cash advanced?

                        • @Shivan1403: I did it for an entire year while I had the card, rent was $850 or so a fortnight and I got 1700 points every time, no other fees or charges on my transaction list or totals.

Now that I think of it, when I use beem with my debit card it shows as 'Withdrawal', but then again those transactions were all to a bank account with bsb and account number and all, not bpay.

            • +2

@bargainerpro: @bargainerpro you should rethink about that username mate…..

        • Where did you see the 0 af for existing customers? I can't find that.

  • I had an ANZ QFF black in the last 12 months, does that disqualify me as eligible? [edit] It has been answered above.

    • So you're eligible?

      • +1

ANZ QFF and ANZ Rewards are two different product offerings. Holding/having held a QFF card in the last 12 months doesn't usually exclude you from offers on the Rewards and vice-versa.

        • +4

Yes, we keep getting this question asked for almost every ANZ QFF/Rewards deal.

They are different award streams if you just scroll down to the T&Cs and check the exclusion cards they mentioned there.

With Westpac & St George, they're excluding all as they category under one type (WP: Altitude, SG: Amplify)

  • +4

T&C say apply March 2023, will offer still be available then? Or will the 75,000 get reduced

  • +1

    when does this expire

  • Looks like I’ll have to lift my credit ban then I put it because Optus. Usually go for QFF, but why not try the velocity? Point redemption for biz class looks fair value

  • Do people prefer Qantas Frequent Flyer or Velocity Frequent Flyer? I was looking at the ANZ Black card which is for Qantas but now this deal popped up which looks good too.

    • +3

Qantas is rubbish nowadays, it should boot Joyce out first.

    • I like to diversify. It gives options when booking flights. Don’t like to put all my eggs in one basket.

  • +1

I have overseas trip coming up later this year. so keen to get the card which gives benefit of lounge access (or gives complementary priority pass subscription) on international airport. Any lead to such card?

    • +1

St. George Amplify card has 'Priority Pass' access,
and they are having a current promotion,
      however minimum $15k credit limit

  • great

  • -1

    Banger of a deal

Oh hang on - this is Rewards. I'm on FF exclusion atm. I'm in. Sick bro.

  • Anyone able to apply? it says:

Sorry, that offer cannot be found or has ended.
Please take a look at our current credit cards and offers.

    • Yup, I'm getting that error too. Their normal offer isn't as good as this. Can someone from Pointshacks fix this please?

  • +1

    any travel insurance? edit: yep!

  • Damn, not a bad deal. Makes me miss the old ANZ Rewards Travel Adventures card.

    • That was a great card. It's really lost all it's shine in the last couple of years

  • So we got a good deal but can’t sign up What’s Up

  • -3

Did this deal ever actually exist? Sounds like nobody got it…

    • -1

I was able to apply just now

      • +1

How? I get the message "Sorry, that offer cannot be found or has ended." Which is what everyone else is commenting, hence the neg.

        • I'm not too sure, I followed the links and didn't get hit with any errors. Following the links leads me here and I can apply

          • @deezus: Send this to a mate of mine and he started the application process and then got hit with the "Sorry, that offer cannot be found or has ended." partway through the stages.

Edit: not sure exactly how far he went but he clicked through PointsHack and then eventually got this error.

            • @daanish: Yeah I'm not too sure what's going on with it. I was able to go through everything without a hitch, they've even emailed me asking for payslips already

  • +1

95 dollars of virgin credit is arguably worthless

    • +1

Why? Does it have a short expiration?

  • +8

Surprised by the enthusiasm for this deal.

The Rewards Black often comes with 180K points for $0 AF.

180K ANZ rewards points converts to 90K Velocity points.

That's 15K more Velocity points than this deal.

15K Velocity points is worth a minimum of $150 — way more than the net $50 you get from this deal.

And you don't have to deal with a Virgin travel credit. And your points are more flexible with the Black — can also convert to other airlines or cash out if you wish.

Only positive for this deal is the status credits.

    • Rewards black had 160k qff aswell! Which is way more points.

      • +2

        That's a separate card.

You can get both the ANZ Rewards Frequent Flyer (ie Qantas) and the ANZ Rewards (ie this one).

        • Any good deals ATM?

So I can do both cards? Cool

I actually am cancelling my Amex, and I haven't had any other bank card in over 12 months.

          • +1

@[Deactivated]: Start with the ANZ FF Black Qantas 160K deal.

            • @vetopower: Yeah, thank you!

Am I able to do this deal too? It has a low spend!

            • @vetopower: @vetpower where can I find the ANZ FF Black Qantas 160k deal? All I can find is the same but with 110k FF points?

    • is this deal current, where is the link to this?

    • +1

The Rewards Black often comes with 180K points for $0 AF.

Haven't seen that offer for some time. Also, income criteria is higher and minimum $15K limit

      • Yeah, but I would take 160k qff deal over 180k ANZ pts.
