  • Saving of almost $200 from last deal in the spec I was ordering. Good thing I didn’t go through with it yet!

    • I can't log in again. What's the new 6800U upgrade price?

      • $1691.10

Their systems are so dodgy and inconsistent. I used to be able to get 6800U, 16GB RAM and OLED screen with 3 yr onsite warranty and battery replacement for $1739, intermittently over the past 2 -3 days. I did not pull the trigger immediately, and while I was thinking it over for the past few days, I noticed the price fluctuate between $1739 and approx $19xx every time I would get back to configuring the cart with same options. Almost seemed like there is some bug with their cart software. Now it is back to $1915. Weird and dodgy. Also, their staff are so unethical. I had a cart saved with the lower ($1739) price in edu store. Yesterday, while asking for a quote in regular store to match the edu store price, so that I can take advantage of cashrewards, my saved edu store cart disappeared during the call. I am pretty sure the consultant I was speaking to deleted it. The quote they subsequently provided in the regular store was conveniently ~$200 higher than edu store and I could no longer go back to my "saved" edu cart and of course the edu store price is now higher again. I should have taken a screenshot. If they could not match the edu store price they should have just said so rather than stuffing people around. Dealing with Lenovo is like dealing with some dodgy backstreet used car salesperson.

        • Do you have a screenshot or receipt to show Lenovo? They’re asking for proof
          Thanks in advance…

  • This or IPad Air M1/IPad Pro?

    For emails/word processing/light work/maybe programming.

I really like the idea of the pen on IPad, but don’t really know how it works in real life.

If you need Windows go Windows laptop as Apple has stopped supporting Bootcamp on their new macs.

Laptop >> Tablet in my opionion. Tablets aren't made for productivity.

M1 is an absolutle beast. I would have got it if I didn't windows so much.

  • don't OLED burn in? is it a problem with these machines? also note that the link to the review has a better CPU than this one.

Anyway to access this deal as a non-edu user?

pay someone to buy for you

I ordered the Slim version of Yoga 7, because I needed a lightweight laptop that I can carry around at work. After a few use, I could not stand the glossy display (300 nits), which I sometimes barely saw in a well-lit/sunny room. I ended up giving the laptop to my dad, who uses it to check his emails in his weekend fishing trips. He likes it despite having to get the USB port replaced (under warranty). I would stick with my XPS at all times though.

  • This but with RAM slots. Any suggestions?

    • +1

Not exactly the same, but dells Inspiron 2-in-1s have ram slots. Ddr4 though.
They are still 2-in-1, the 16" has OLED option but only Intel processors, the 14" ryzens are only 5000 series and no USB4.

Thank you kindly. I have been keeping an eye on those, but note they dont have options for higher refresh rates, and intel or ryzen 5000 as you mentioned. Only one ive seen that ticks the boxes is ASUS ROG X16, but its a bit on the expensive side.

  • Thanks OP. Any similar deals on 15 or 16" in the edu store?

  • +1

Anyone have a screenshot from this deal? I asked Lenovo for a refund of the difference of a machine not yet delivered.

As expected they didn't reply for a week, then said the link is broken (wtf they can't even open their own edu pages) and now ask for a screenshot which of course after the code expired. Typical Chinese company tactics.
