    Bought one ☝️

    • But it's tomorrow

      • Expires tomorrow

        • +14

Thanks! Time to head to SpecSavers

    • Time traveller confirmed. Is that you John?

      • Damn it. I knew it was too good to be true.

        • -1

          I bought one next week.

      • Titor or Connor?

  • 12 month expiry means you can buy it now and activate it within 12 months?

    • +1

Nah, means once you activate it you get 12 months to use it. If you want the additional data you must activate it before the 26th of September.

      • Ah I see. Thanks1

        • +1

The one week to activate relates back to the data inclusion. On the 27th of September, our inclusions for all plans will change, however, data inclusions for this price point have remained fairly consistent over the past 6 months.

          • +3

@boostmobileau: When will Boost Customers get minimum roaming (incoming text messages) to receive OTP passwords while overseas ?

            • +1

@utsc: I was on holiday between June and July visiting the US and Brazil, and I can confirm I received OTP password while I was there.
On that note, we are working really hard to bring roaming back to our customers - it's a huge priority for us!

  • +3

Only week to activate? pass for me

    • +3

The one week to activate relates back to the data inclusion. On the 27th of September, our inclusions for all plans will change, however, data inclusions for this price point have remained fairly consistent over the past 6 months :)

      • Know what the change will be? More? less? same? My current 12 month Boost expires in 17 days…missing out by a week haha

        • +9

I can confirm it won't be less!

          • +1

            @boostmobileau:

I can confirm it won't be less!

Any idea when you'll get eSIM support?

            • +1

@Amaris: We can't commit to a date yet but it is one of the top priorities for this year.

          • +2

            @boostmobileau:

I can confirm it won't be less!

This comment is suggesting that we should really wait until after the 26th since it will either be the same or more…

          • +1

@boostmobileau: 28th today and it looks the same to me

            • @Gonltruck: @boostmobileau I'd also love to hear from you on current status today (28th), in case I missed something. Been holding off on an activation.

      • Hi mate, this deal arrived on time but how long is delivery to Sydney Metro?

        • +1

Once dispatched, you should receive your order within the following business days:

Metro Areas – 2-5 business days for capital cities – Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth, Canberra, Darwin, Hobart & Brisbane (order before 4pm).
Non Metro or Regional / remote areas – 3-7 business days

  • +1

Bring back half price 6month plans! With cashback!

  • Existing customers should port out and port in ?

    • +1

Good old kogan 2 dollars sim port in and out 👍

      • +1

How long does the port-out period has to last? Would a 1 or 2-day turnaround be ok?

      • Better get the $4sim with a month worth of service from lebara or similar if you can put up with non-Telstra coverage. You might run into issues with no credit sim and can't port out when a confirmation text is required.

        • I buy this sim from kogan and use it to just port in and out. Been doing this for a while now. Works flawlessly 😊

          • @sedi: So do you have to spend the $2.9 every time you want to port in and back again? Or can you buy the sim once and keep it? My thoughts are for the monthly free boost sims, I need something to port in and back again with minimal cost

            • +1

@Pub Envelope: As far as I know, once the sim is used for porting, you can't reuse it.
If you want to maximise the utility of these sims, you can buy $2.90 Kogan sim, use it for 28 days, port to Boost on 28th day, and use Boost for 28 days, and port back to Kogan on 28th day for $2.90 and use it.
Good thing about Kogan sim is that if you port out before 30th day, they don't charge you for the next month. But I would port on 28th day, just to be on the safe side.

              • @sedi: That's a great idea I will try that

                • @neonlight: Make sure to COMPLETE the port process before 30th day. If it gets stuck in the middle, you will get charged for the next month. Enjoy 😜

      • How long do need you need to be on Kogan before porting back to Boost?

        • No time limit. I switch back to boost straight away. And Boost happily accepts me as a New Customer 😜

          • +1

@sedi: Lol seriously? That's great I would give it a try then

            • @neonlight: I have been doing this for 3 yrs, no issues. 👌😜

    • Yep, can't be used to top up an existing service.

Interested to see if they do eSIMs and this sentence hurt my eyes:

Boost doesn't currently have eSIM capability yet.

    https://boost.com.au/blogs/help-topics/does-boost-have-esim-…

    • Didn’t hurt me at least I know I won’t get hacked.

      eSIM is extremely vulnerable

      • I’m referring to the use of “currently” and “yet”.

  • What it does it mean by 130GB from 2nd recharge?

    • It means, after 12 months when you need to recharge, it costs more for less.

    • +5

It means that your data allocation for this 12 month SIM is 140GB, and after 12-months when you are due for another recharge, the allocation for this specific product will be 130GB (however, you can choose to recharge at any price point after 12 months - you are not locked into this plan).

      • +1

So this starter kit can be used as recharge?

        • +1

You'll use the starter kit for the first year (140GB) and the data inclusion of 130GB applies to the recharge from year 2.

          • @boostmobileau: Do I have wait until the 140GB first year ends in December to apply the recharge, or can I load up the second year 130GB in advance now?

      • Haha i just recharged yesterday $200 for 130gb 12 months Any chance i can get some sort of credit reimbursement ?

  • Odds of similar deals happening again before December? My Amaysim plan expires then so I’m hoping to find something closer to the date

    • +4

You can expect great offers during Click Frenzy and Black Friday :)

      • Great to hear! Thanks for getting back to me.

      • If you don't activate before 27th September how much data will you have?

        • The one week to activate relates back to the data inclusion. On the 27th of September, our inclusions for all plans will change, however, data inclusions for this price point have remained fairly consistent over the past 6 months so there won't be any surprises.

        • I called boost and they said if you activate after 27/9, your data inclusion is 140gb. I.e. you only lost the bonus recharge 130gb bit.

The only thing you need to aware is the sim expiry date as some of them may expire within a week. The sims will b sending out from the warehouse so they dont know which sim you will be getting.

          • @SumTingRon: What does your sentence “if you activate after 27/9, your data inclusion is 140gb. I.e. you only lost the bonus recharge 130gb bit“ actually mean? Did you mean after 27/9 you get only 130 GB instead of 140GB, which is only a 10GB loss?

      • Great offers that will be cheaper than this?

        • +5

Unfortunately, I'm unable to disclose the actual offer at this stage but you can expect similar or better deals!

      • But would you be able get the cash rewards?

        • no

        • Ask the manager on duty to get on the Cashrewards hotline, Batman style.

    • +3

You can get it for $147 upfront here (expires in 11 months), otherwise subscribe to this product.

Edit: OOS so go for commenter's link above

  • +1

Is the Boost deal better than the Coles Mobile 120GB promotion?

    12 months 120GB price down from $150 to $119
    https://colesmobile.com.au/home/left-image/product/8

    • +4

Full Telstra Network (Boost) versus Optus Network (Coles).
They're not really comparable assuming you value coverage.

    • +2

Service not comparable. I have got both Coles and Boost. I m getting 4g with Coles and 5g with Boost at the same location.

      • +1

5G isn't really that important though.

        • +1

For some maybe. For extra $15/yr + 20gb more + 100+mbps more, why would you not get it??

          • +1

@BargnHuntr: Well I did upvote the deal but it wasn't because it has 5G.

        • When your in really crowded area then 5G really important. You might have full reception on your 4G but data hardly moving. 5G is all about high density.

    • +1

I think Woolies one is best value when you include the 10% off every month shopping discount. It's also eSim compatible, so you can keep your physical slot free for sim pounding lol

    • +1

Depends where you live, Telstra coverage was woeful at my old place, Optus was fast. Now at my new place, it's the opposite so YMMV.

Also VoLTE and VoWiFi calling with both now.

      • Came here to say that the best thing about Boost is the Telstra WiFi calling. I thought it was only with Boost — are you saying that WiFi is possible with other budget carriers ?

        • Yes, the only ones that don't are on the Telstra wholesale network.

  • -1

Won't everyone already have a mobile number?

So this is somewhat pointless - or is this for those with dual sim?

    • +1

You can bring your number when you port over to Boost.

      • can I port from Kogan esim to Boost? also want to bring my no.

        • We don't have esim capability yet but it is a top priority for us, we are working really hard to offer it as soon as possible for both existing customers and new customers!

  • If i dont care about the bonus data, how long can i keep this before using?

    • Late next year

    • You can keep it until the SIM expiries. Usually, that's between 6 months to 2 years from the date of purchase.

      • How would I know the expiry date before I purchase it? I don't need it until August next year.

        • +2

There's no way of knowing the expiry date before purchasing, however, they range between 6 months to 2 years from the date of purchase.
You can wait until next year to purchase it, to be on the safe side. We will definitely have similar or better deals then so you won't be missing out.

  • How fast is shipping usually?

    • +1

They don't notify of shipping but is usually quick. However, I ordered a sim on 13th Sept. but still haven't received. I'm in WA Metro.

    • +1

Once dispatched, you should receive your order within the following business days:

Metro Areas – 2-5 business days for capital cities – Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth, Canberra, Darwin, Hobart & Brisbane (order before 4pm).
Non Metro or Regional / remote areas – 3-7 business days

  • So wait for 27th Sept and get potentially ~150GB and potentially also eSim launch around in that week :D
Time to stock up this starter back and activate later in the year

  • +1

Also can anyone confirm that Wifi Calling works overseas on this Boost prepaid 12M plans (either with OS prepaid sim date or any Wifi hotspot ? I know it works on Telstra prepaid but wanted to confirm if it works on Boost as well. Vodafone/Optus needs a seperate Wifi hotspot (VPNed into Australia) to make it work

    • -1

Yes, it does! I was recently overseas and used wi-fi calling several times.

      • Wait, how do you do calling using wifi? Through an app like WhatsApp/signal?

        Genuine question here.

        Thanks

        • +1

Wi-Fi Calling allows you to make and receive phone calls over a Wi-Fi connection rather than through your provider's network. You can turn on the WiFi calling feature in your phone's settings.

      • +1

No, it does not work all the time and it's misleading for you to claim as a representative of Boost that it does. My wife is currently in the US for work for 3 months. Wifi calling and receiving messages for banking OTPs etc worked for the first week or so, and has never worked since.

        • -1

I think you misread what I said, I said when I travelled it worked for me - I never specified the timeframe.
Nevertheless, we are bringing back roaming really soon so this question will no longer pop up.

          • @boostmobileau: It's been coming soon for quite some time now. We want a date for when roaming is back.

            • +1

@dingdong3000: The plan is to have it back before the end of the month.

    • +1

It's a hit-and-miss mostly. Didn't work for me. But worked for many others. Whirlpool has many threads of similar experiences. If you want 100% certainty, go with Telstra. And stupid chat is hopeless. Keep pointing to 'no roaming'.

    • +1

      Data point for the group:

      Back from USA.
Over wifi sms and calls worked a treat.
For sms we found we needed to send an sms from the phone which then seemed to trigger the receiving of a batched up sms at once.
Calls came through and could be made faultlessly (better than a T-Mobile local US sim when calling back to Oz).
