LOL so I bought one of those 8 inch echos which is OK, but it has nothing on my $10 echo dot 3.

  • how much are these separately?

    • -7
      • Echo Show 8 (2nd Gen) - $99.69
      • Echo Dot (4th Gen) - $39.58
      • Fire TV Stick 4k Max - $49.60
      • Ring Video Doorbell 2nd Gen - $70.13
      • You wanna add links to that for us then? Can't see those prices

        • That’s the price after the bundling discount since the commenter asked what’s the price on these separately

          • +6

@BargainsGrabber: ah right, I don't think thats what was being asked originally.
Buying them separately costs significantly more.

            • +1

@fratzhaus: the question asked wasn’t clear, that’s on me for responding incorrectly my bad

      • +2

        thanks mate

      Echo Show 8 (2nd gen): $199
      Echo dot (4th gen): $79
      Fire TV 4k Max: $99
      Ring Doorbell (2nd gen): $140

      Total: $517

Although deals can be had for each of these individually for much better value, those are the current prices I could see.

      • +14

Going by Historical Lows e.g. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/710571:

        Echo Show 8 (2nd Gen): $99
        Echo Dot (4th Gen): $49
Fire TV 4K MAX: $49 (though could be had as low as $39 etc in other deals e.g. $20 amazon gift card)
        Ring Doorbell (2nd Gen): $99 (3xcamels, also apparently there's a bunch of different/newer models)

        Total: $296

  • Is this how you make profit from Leftover sale?

Does anyone actually need all of that carp as a bundle?

    • +7

I'd rather a bundle of Murray Cod than Carp!

    • +3

Honestly I could use all of these things except the Fire Stick. Even if you can't you could potentially give the others away to friends and family.

    • Fried Carp is good. anybody tried fried Crap?

on an slightly related note - does anyone else feel like google home has actually gotten worse over the last 3 years and is pretty much trash now?

    • My Google Home is about 3-4 years old and is getting slower and slower. My Google Home Mini was basically a brick for several months and I was ready to hammer throw it off my balcony. Thankfully after factory resetting it 100 times it started working again.

Tempted to change teams since I am looking to get a video doorbell.

I'm sure I can look this up but what are people's thoughts on this Amazon system vs. Google?

      • my Gen 1echo (cylindrical shape) from 2014 is still going very strong.

        • +1

How did u get on the invite list to get 1 in 2014?
All my 1st gen echo's are a bit deaf now… I think AMNZ did something to make them a bit deaf so u upgrade.

      • I have like 20 google home products some are like 6 years old still work perfectly fine like they did day 1

    • I've heard this from a mate as well, I haven't used mine enough, but I remember it being excellent when it first released, so sad to hear this.

    • +4

I second this - IMHO when they came out initially, Google home was leagues ahead of Alexa. I bought both of them around similar time, about 4 years ago and couldn’t stop bragging about how good google home was and how bad Alexa was.
4 years later, my google home is probably sitting in some corner somewhere, not used at all and I now have 4 Alexa’s around the home, being used daily.
The show pairs nicely with the ring door bell, which is what I originally got it for and is nice to see whos at the door. Infact, I was previously using raspberry pi and homeassist to integrate the different ecosystems, which I can now just do with Alexa. Even my pi is now just sitting there doing nothing.
I have to admit I am loving my Alexa’s while google home has gone the other way for me.

      • -2

        Say what?
Alexa has always been leagues (years) ahead of Google… unless u were one of those who uses Alexa in the Australia zone, then I have no idea because I only tried it for 5 mins.

    • +2

100% ! It used to be relatively quick with actioning commands…it now takes forever to respond…this is across my google hub and 4 minis, all are the same…

    • Suprised by all the complaints about Google home. My hub2 and mini seem responsive and work well. Haven't tried Alexa though.

    • They recently completely gutted the IFTTT integration, which used to allow custom commands with variable input. Now, all commands have to start with "activate" and you can't have variables.

I am still working on an alternative that doesn't force me to have one of my automations monitoring the Google Keep shopping list for commands (and therefore all my commands sounding like "Hey Google, add turn on the laptop to the shopping list")

      • I'm using Bring! for groceries and it integrates really well with Google Assistant, plus the Bring! app is nice. I just say "Hey Google add milk to the grocery list" or whatever your Bring! list is called.

edit: I think I misunderstood what you were using the shopping list functionality for, lol. Anyway hope my comment is helpful for someone anyway

        • All good haha. Every time they take away the logical option, I have to use less logical options to accomplish the objective.

  • +2

besides the 4k max stick, there is nothing that stands out from the bundle. We can have Eufy or the new google camera, which are better. However, this is a very good deal.

  • +4

Cheers. Missus will be ecstatic for another impulse buy.

  • +1

haha gotta get that full set bonus

  • Alexa doesn't listen to us, every now and then she asks, "do you have to call me twice", and when we say say, she replies "Thank you for feedback ".. but still ignores us until we shout 😬

    • +3

      what a rude b*!

      • +1

        I meant bot

  • +3

can we put Alexa and google next to each other and make them talk ??

  • Holding out for the Amazon Ring of Power edition

  • can this be used outside australia?

    • I have set up the Amazon Firestick Lite and Amazon Firestick 4K Max to use overseas (Europe) using a VPN.

I'm not sure a VPN was required, but I used it to set up just in case.

If it's something you want to try, and you have a VPN, PM me for details.

  • Spend the extra $'s and go with UniFi (ui.com). You will not regret it.

    DC

  • Ive got a 40% off firestick 4k max code from amazon and $60 off 2nd gen echo 2 if anyone wanted it pm me.

  • Can i keep part of the order and return the rest?
