Better to put DJI Osmo Action 4 Standard Combo in the title

Is it worth upgrading from a 3?

    • +2

Based on side-by-side Youtube footage, personally no. The Action 5 Pro is a much more noticeable upgrade (especially in lowlight). Will wait till the 5 Pro gets discounted

I think the very good value DJI Mic Mini (transmitter) is compatible with the 4 but not with the 3.

    • Very much so.

The night video quality picked up so much with the bigger sensor.

I own the 3 and my partner owns the 4.

If you only do daylight things, nah, the 3 is already pretty neat. But any lowlight and the 4 shines through very notably.

  • Can anyone let me know what the 'Standard Combo' actually entails? There isn't much detail in the Amazon page. Is it just the camera itself and an extra battery - or is there something more?

Nevermind; had to scroll down a little bit and read some fine print:

Osmo Action 4 has 2 basic Combos:
Osmo Action 4 Standard Combo Includes Osmo Action 4, 1 battery, 1 Quick-Release Adapter Mount, and some necessary accessories, which are suitable for beginners.
Osmo Action 4 Adventure Combo is the advanced option and includes 3 batteries with a multifunctional battery case. The battery case can be one to give the battery a quick charge and improve efficiency.

  • Anyone got a 6-15 word vibe as to how these stack up to a Go Pro? Looking for something for snorkeling and I've got no familiarity with the brand apart from the knowledge that they make drones.

As good or better. But for IQ and other improvements, I would be looking at the Osmo Action 5 Pro.

I went to an Action 3 after Hero, Hero3, Hero5 x2 and a Hero 10. All things a better with the DJI except for the magnetic mount, I just can't trust it. I have lost the camera twice off the selfie stick (Disclaimer, I was using the smallrig housing) once was my fault, clicke record button and bumped the release button. other time was just a pretty hard hit and it popped off.

    • Specifically low light, I prefer my Action 4 to my Gopro 10

  • I’ve been eyeing this diving stick which is much cheaper than their own one and well rated.

    • Note that the official gopro floating foam stick is not boyant enough to keep the Action 3 above water. (at least not the stick from the Hero 5 era)

  • Hi, can anyone confirm whether changing to lower frame rate (fps) increases video performance ie. less noise?

    • only if it changes the shutter speed - you should be able to set manual shutter speed in the 'manual/pro' settings part using either the camera or Mimo app (I don't have mine on me to check)

      • Can definitely change on the camera, the recommendations I go by are to change to manual, then reduce the ISO range to something like 100-3200 or 100-6400 for less noise

$329 at JB Hi Fi - Unfortunate about the additional batteries not being on discount with the Adventure Combo, a single battery @ 4K lasts me about 50-60 minutes.

  • How does this compare to GoPro Hero 4K Action Cam: https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/gopro-hero-4k-action-cam

  • I think cashback rate for this is 0%
