  • Excellent! Been looking for a reasonably priced 22-24" + HDMI.
    Cheers.

For Perth shoppers - we will have these at $159 BEFORE cashback. So that will be just $139 After cashback!

    • I gave you +1 before I checked, you have no stock!

      • +2

Our stock is already on the way in from Eastern States - that is the disadvantage of being in Perth.

        • How much would shipping be to Melbourne?

        • +1

Not viable as it is a flat rate $19. Hence good for Perth shoppers only.

        • +4

          Can you do Free Shipping?

        • Would still be $1 cheaper lol

    • Response Time : 14ms
    • Also does not state Colour Gamut

How does this compare to the Dell U2412M for $100 more?

    • better if you could afford U2412M

      • As in more than $100 better?

        • 14ms is extremely sloooooooow!

        • +4

Depends why you're buying the monitor. If you value size and vertical resolution (24" and 1200 vertical pixels on the Dell vs 23" and 1080 on the ASUS) then $100 isn't that much… although it's actually 71% which is a pretty big increase.

Asus' response time doesn't seem very good either, so theoretically the Dell would be better for games and movies.

The Dell doesn't have HDMI, but you can get DVI to HDMI converters pretty cheaply these days.

All that said, I've never regretted spending a bit more and getting the better one of anything. I bought the Dell a few months ago. No regrets. It's awesome.

        • Can you point me in the direction of a DVI to HDMI convertor that will do the job?

        • EBay is cheapest place for these. Search for "dvi to hdmi".

24 inch is better if you can afford it.
At this price, it should be an e-IPS panel. Still have very good viewing angle. I think U2412M is also an e-IPS panel. Better than TN panels for sure.

    • Where can you get the Dell for $100 more?

  • It is slow right? In fact I've never seen a monitor advertised for 14ms before lol, usually 2ms - 6ms??

Or is 14ms fast for an IPS panel?

    • +1

14ms is okay for IPS. If you really want fast panel, TN tends to be faster, but viewing angle is quite bad.

      • +2

It's not so much about viewing angle as the colour reproduction.

        • +2

If you want speed get a CRT panel, no lag AT ALL :)

  • +1

    $159 not $158..

    • Thanks. Updated.

    As an option:

    Samsung 23" LED S23B350H

    $188 ($9 more - $29 after cashback)

    2ms response time, 3D

    • Asus vs Samsung, Online vs Instore - make your own conclusions
    • Says nothing about IPS or TN…

      • +2

Are 2ms response time IPS monitors available for <$200? I hope you know that IPS monitors are considered a superior technology to TN monitors (in terms of color reproduction and viewing angles) and therefore carries a price premium over TN monitors.

        • in what situation is viewing angle important for a 23" computer monitor- even if you have multiple monitors wouldn't you point/tilt them all directly where you are sitting.

        • +2

Well the benefits of better viewing angles are pretty obvious, e.g. if you have more than one person viewing the monitor (happens every day at uni for group assignments, even at home). Granted that for users such as myself it is only a convenience not a requirement but it is a convenience that many are happy to pay for. The main selling point of IPS monitors is the more accurate color reproduction and it hardly needs to be explained why having the right colours on your screen is good.

The point is; IPS monitors are justifiably considered to be better (with exceptions of course), whether or not you actually have use for it, so the price premium is justified.

how does this monitor compare to lg ips 23" for $159 from msy?. from what i read lg gets very good reviews

    • hi, which model you are referring to? Couldn't find it myself. Cheers!

  • Ewwww 14 ms, pass.

    • +3

      14ms IPS =/= 14ms TN/TFT dude, different tech = different scales! ;)

      • IPS 14ms may not be comparable with TN but it is still slower than Dell's 8ms.
Being a owner of a Dell ultrasharp, I know it does not have the ghosting effect on racing games.
I am a bit weary that 14ms is enough to have ghosting as it is nearly twice as slow as Dell's screen.

        • IPS 14ms may not be comparable with TN but it is still slower than Dell's 8ms.

Agreed; however as previously noted, Dell's 8ms U2312HM is $100 more & has no HDMI. For non-hardcore gamers, that hundred can go a long way (SSD, HDD, RAM…etc, etc).

The salient point though, is that you cannot take a single number or spec & ascribe either good or bad results to it without proper context. If you look into it a bit, you'll find that panel response time isn't necessarily your enemy in games, you might wanna attribute the good results from the Dell to low input lag instead!

      • I didn't know that thanks. Then what is it comparable to in TN/TFT panel?

      • I actually didn't realize that, as others have asked, I'd be interested to know what 14ms is comparable too in the TN/TFT world? 5ms or higher?

        Thanks :D

only a 250cd/m2 means you can't see well when it gets bright.
It has a typical cheap stand. no height adjustment.
It is not LED backlid. Not only the power consumption is higher but also the tube will work for 5 years only, shorter than LED lid ones.
    No USB ports.

This screen is what you paid for I guess.

    • brightness it not really an issue. the screen is LED backlit, if you bothered to check it out properly. Yes it doesn't have USB hub or a card reader, and the stand is pretty crap, but it does have VESA mounts to put on a better stand if required.

try find another IPS display for the price…

got one today (overnight shipping to adelaide!) and its comparable to my dell 2407 which i paid many times more for…
