Off topic but anyone have trouble with their gopro at the snow? I have the 9 and brought it up to the snow recently. It kept shutting down saying low battery when there was plenty of power left.
Was also using an insta360 x2 and that had no problems with the cold temps at all.

Original or Enduro battery? The originals don't like the cold.

      • original

        • The enduro batteries were made for the snow they claim…

I had the same issue whilst in Finland. The batteries are very sensitive to the cold but is fine once being used for a while as the battery warms up. My suggestion would be to try and warm the batteries up and then insert them in and power it on straight away and record. That way the battery stays warm.

    • Yes had this happen to me at Falls Creek a week back. Had 3 batteries. Would swap through them and be told only 2% battery left… Original batteries all on charge overnight. I'm using the Hero Black 7 though. I've found warming them in hands helps sometimes.

      • Since the only time I really need an action camera is at the snow, think I'll be sticking with the insta360. It worked flawlessly. Will just use the GoPro as a mounted video camera for time-lapse etc when I'm making things 😆

      • Falls creek in Victoria?

  • I wonder if this stacks with the Turkish Apple ID shenanigans.

    • No reason it wouldn't.

  • I don't think you can order members discounted batteries from Gopro on their own in Aus, you can only get batteries if they're shipped with a new camera, (unless things have changed)… and from memory last year the members discount on the 10 wasn't very good. I bought mine on a deal bundled with the subscription, then I cancelled the paypal payment permission straight away before they charged me for the subscription, so I got the camera at a great price and didn't have to pay for the subscription…

(personally I don't see any value in the subscription)

    • I did exactly what you did, but now I'm tempted to get the subscription at this price. I wonder how it would work though. I imagine I wouldn't be able to use my original GoPro account.

And yeah, that battery purchase issue is still the case. You can't buy standalone batteries, they have to be with a GoPro.

      • If you want a subscription for the cloud backup or such, probably better off just uploading to youtube or the likes… I wonder how long your vids stay in the Gopro cloud?, do they all get deleted when your subscription expires?

  • Seems this is new users only, sadly.

  • wait, now you have to pay for Quick ? I used it while ago and it was free to download, there was another editing software.

  • Hero 11 should by announced any day now, I wonder how much the Hero 10 will come down in price once that happens?

Might be worth getting this sub now and then getting the Hero 10 when the new one is announced.

    • I've used the 10 a hell of a lot, it's significantly better than previous models (I've never tried a 9 though), it's relatively bug free…

  • So should i get the goPro 11? How much is the rrp of new released GoPros?
