Mearth Electric Scooters: S $559.20, S PRO $719.20, RS $919.20, GTS $1,519.20 Delivered @ Mearth

30
ZIP20

I can see Mearth gets very mixed reception here on Ozbargain due to the antics of the marketing team, however I thought I would post this because it seems like an overlooked double up on offers. Currently there are discounts on most of their scooters plus I found the voucher ZIP20 for 20% off on CouponBirds. Here are the new prices after discount:

Model Offer Price ZIP20 Price Offer Expiry
Mearth S $699.00 $559.20 2022-9-1 17:57
Mearth S PRO $899.00 $719.20 2022-9-1 17:57
Mearth RS $1,149.00 $919.20 2022-9-1 17:52
Mearth GTS $1,899.00 $1,519.20 2022-9-1 22:53

I personally went for the Mearth RS, but I suspect I'll always wish I went for the GTS… My RS has also been shipped already after 24 hours.

where can you legally ride these…?

    • +1

For WA: local roads, pedestrian path and bike path.

      • 40 kmh? on pedestrian paths?
        and share paths?

        • +1

Speed limits are 25, 15 and 25 respectively

          • @juns: but very rarely enforced?

            • @franco cozzo: I don't think anyone is actively enforcing it. I ride mine 30kmh on local roads and bike path.

Rode past the police and they didn't even flinch. I think 25 and 30 is close enough a naked eye can't tell the difference.

              • -4

@juns: great…. cant wait to get cleaned up by a clueless 130kg electric powered projectile (combined weight) on my next bike ride.
cant win… roads arent safe now shared paths arent either

                • +4

@franco cozzo: That's exactly what I've been feeling with all the cars on the road capable of 150km/h++ speed

                  • @juns: except bike paths and shared paths are meant to be safer.. sadly, no more

                    • @jasonc: hey jason…been a long time. you keeping well?

                      • @franco cozzo: doing ok, avoiding escooters as best i can, thanks

                        • @jasonc: lol …same. looking like more time on the trainer i guess…its the only safe space to cycle these days

                  • @juns: And all the cyclists.

                • +6

@franco cozzo: Plenty of clueless 1.8 tonne plus drivers out there as well and 130kg combined weight cyclists

                  • +1

                    @singlemalt72:

Plenty of clueless 1.8 tonne plus drivers out there

                    Too much KFC ?

                • @franco cozzo: 100kg load limit

                • @franco cozzo: Cars are 2000kg fossil fuel powered projectile, legally allowed to go 50-60 km/h right next to pedestrians and other active travellers.

Using p=mv or ke=0.5mv^2, cars are at least a magnitude more harmful in terms of ability to do harm in the event of a crash, not including getting run over by one.

Why isn't there a speed limiter built in cars already?

      • nice. see if i can save up for ninebot gokart pro. shouild be a fun ride

WA, QLD, TAS. Private property elsewhere.

      • -1

        Nope… not in QLD

        • +1

Yes it is. If you speed limit them to 25km (which they are out of the box) they are legal. If you unlock them to go faster, e.g. 40km then they're not legal.

      • Not all roads in qld

        • +1

Obviously but the scooters themselves are legal. Unlike VIC and NSW with their backwards ass laws.

          • @Clear: How come I see hundreds of them every day in Vic if they're illegal?

            • @MagnamoniousRex: Ozbargain is full of tight fisted rule followers. Normal people just get on with it.

            • @MagnamoniousRex: Littering is illegal, but you can see litter everywhere. Same with drugs. Same with drinking and smoking outside of permitted places.

            • -1

@MagnamoniousRex: Thats like saying why do people commit theft and murder? Vicpol are far less strict than NSW. I've spent a lot of time this year in both states and NSW do regular crackdowns so people know it's not worth the risk.

            • @MagnamoniousRex: If you rent them, it's legal. If you buy one, it can have a motor powerfull up to 200w and speed doesn't exceed 10km/h. It's on the VICroads website.

          • @Clear: I think they are legal in nsw on private property. So they are not illegal on NSW, only restricted from certain places

I can.ride one on my farm just like I can drive the unregistered paddock basher car

            • -1

@Tleyx: They've always been legal on private property. Like not wearing a seatbelt. The issue is in NSW and VIC you can't go out in public and ride them like you can in WA, QLD and TAS.

      • So are there no eScooter rentals in VIC and NSW now? or is it just Privately owned scooters that are banned?

        • -1

There are rentals in some parts and the privately owned ones are still banned.

  • mearth? surely you jest.

    40 kph Top Speed

    That's even illegal in Qld.

    • +1

Then don't hack it and it's legal at 25kmh out of the box.

      • Then don't hack it

        Doesn't appear to need 'hacking'

        According to the website:

*Disclaimer: Maximum speed is set as 25kph as a default, but it can be manually overridden by the user to go to 40kph.

So, it is 'capable' of doing 40kph, which makes it illegal

        • Manually over ridden is hacking so leave the settings alone and it's legal.

          • +2

            @paulaus:

            Manually over ridden is hacking

            or pushing a button…

    Load Range: 100kg

    Rules out most OzBargainers…

    • +1

they can always get 2 and wear them like rollerskates!

      • -1

I've seen Beam staff ride two while carrying another.

        • substitute the 3rd scooter for a bucket of KFC and it will work for most ozbargainers!

  • +4

these have to be the smartest way to reduce singe person car trips around town. COME ON VIC/NSW

    • Not really… Too dangerous in VIC to ride them on footpaths.

      • or share paths….theyre silent, fast and mostly ridden by distracted users whilst using their phones & headphones…its a recipe for effin disaster

        • +1

They work well in Canberra and Adelaide though.

          Wider footpaths, less foot traffic.

        • +1

its a recipe for effin disaster

already a disaster in Melbourne CBD. There are some real idiots riding these. No helmets on, riding with a passenger, speeding on footpaths missing pedestrians by inches. If the CBD was busy like before COVID, I'm sure we'd have had some deaths by now.

          • +1

            @jv: https://www.abc.net.au/news/2022-08-30/who-is-liable-for-e-s…

And if you live good luck getting compensated

          • +1

@jv: I am sure there would have been some deaths. On average around 40 cyclists die in Australia every year. If there are less cyclists, but more scooterists then it goes without saying there will be deaths.

            • @Aureus:

then it goes without saying there will be deaths.

              proportionally more deaths with e-scooters.

        • mostly ridden by distracted users

False. If you've ever ridden a scooter you'll know it's not possible, or at least extremely difficult to be on your phone at same time.

Cars though… people who drive cars are idiots. Most are on their phones or distracted, and the road toll reflects this.

  • I was pretty close to pulling the trigger on Mearth earlier in the year until I dig into their reviews (most were either pretty dissatisfied with customer service, the more positive ones seemed kinda spammy).
Ended up with a Segway G30Max (Maserati ed) which I cannot fault.

  • I'm a fool for assuming these were Australian made/designed. I just found the RS on Alibaba. I'm not too upset though, because having to buy two of them from China and worrying about dealing with customs, freight and warranty should balance things out a bit… Or at least that's how I'll justify it to myself!

    https://m.alibaba.com/product/1600493369458/adult-Fast-Folda…

  • VicPol are running a protection racket for Lime since jerkoffs that can't ride these properly are ruining it for everyone else.

  • +1

I'm in coastal VIC, I see kids riding these all the time, often with one hand on their phone, no helmet. Always attitudes.

Even better when they ride on footpaths, why should their health be compromised, make it risky for pedestrians instead.

  • How are these compared to Ducati Pro scooters?

    • These aren't as good for picking up chicks…

  • Wouldn't recommend Mearth. They're slower than advertised and because their battery can't keep up past 25km\h

    • Yikes! Which one did you have?

  • Can someone who has this model please tell me if it's an instant start when you push the throttle or do you have to push start before motor kicks in.

    • Yes it has instant start as an option

  • Oh dear check this out https://www.mearth.com.au/
