It seems that this deal is back.

Like last time, it seems this is for NEW prime subscribers only… however I am not (technically) a new subscriber… I cancelled my Prime last month (thinking I wasn't going to use it) then re-subcribed again after it lapsed. I guess this will work for you to if you cancel then resubscribe once it's lapsed.

I can't see it advertised anywhere, but I just got the email and the TCs (via email) are:

These terms and conditions apply whereby Prime members who spend $39 or more on one or more Prime eligible items in a single order on Amazon.com.au (“Qualifying Item(s)”) within 30 days of becoming a Prime member, will be eligible to receive a promotional credit of $10 for use towards a future Eligible Order (“Offer”). The Offer will only apply where the Qualifying Item(s) is shipped and sold by Amazon AU. The Offer does not apply to purchases made from third-party sellers on Amazon.com.au (even if fulfilled by Amazon AU or Prime eligible), digital purchases such as e-books, subscriptions such as Prime Video and Audible, gift cards and postage or delivery rates. The $10 promotional credit (for use towards a future Eligible Order) will be available to be claimed by the customer within 30 days after the Qualifying Item(s) has been ordered. The $10 promotional credit will be automatically applied to a future Eligible Order at checkout, only after the Qualifying Item(s) has been dispatched. The $10 promotional credit (for use towards a future Eligible Order) will expire upon 30 days of being claimed by the customer. An “Eligible Order” refers to a purchase of $39 or more on one or more Prime eligible items, which is shipped and sold by Amazon AU and shipped at the same speed to a single address, in a single order on Amazon.com.au, and excludes products sold by third-party sellers on Amazon.com.au (even if fulfilled by Amazon AU), digital purchases such as e-books, subscriptions such as Prime video and audible, gift cards and postage or delivery rates. If you do not add the Qualifying Item(s) to your shopping cart, the Offer will not apply. If you cancel or return the Qualifying Item(s), you will only be refunded the price paid for the Qualifying Item(s), subject to the applicable refund policy, and the promotional credit will be invalidated. If you cancel or return the Eligible Order for which the promotional credit was used, you will only be refunded the price paid for the Eligible Order (that is, less the value of the promotional credit which will be allocated proportionally among all Prime eligible items included in your Eligible Order), subject to the applicable refund policy, and the promotional credit will be invalidated. This Offer cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer. This Offer cannot be used on pre-existing orders. This Offer does not apply to orders placed with 1-Click. This Offer can only be redeemed once per customer. The maximum benefit you may receive from this offer is one promotional credit of $10. This Offer may be withdrawn or amended without notice. This Offer is not redeemable for cash. This Offer is non-transferable and may not be resold. Amazon reserves the right to cancel the Offer at any time where Amazon suspects misuse, abuse or fraud. Amazon.com.au’s Conditions of Use and Sale apply. Delivery will be applied to each item in accordance with Amazon AU's standard delivery rates and policies.

Amazon keeps offering me free trials. I probably don't spend enough or something.
Sometime last year I had a long period I didn't purchase anything or sign up to Prime, but it was less than 4 months of inactivity between 2 purchases? And they offered me another free trial so it's not a "yearly reset" thing.
It probably helped that on my 2nd free trial I signed up specifically to get free shipping on something from Amazon US, and they lost the package (this was during the heavy rain and floods).

If I start my free trial now they will give me $10 credit? Crystal ball needed.
I already got the $5 credit for listening to a song in the browser, so I think they will probably yank the $10 promo.

  • Got this last month when I re-signed to take advantage of a Prime day deal. Then cancelled immediately upon redemption so it effectively paid for itself. But honestly, Prime has been a PITA of late. Their delivery dudes truly DGAF, and just dump stuff at random locations around the outside of my apartment building.

    • "cancelled immediately" will get member fee refund?

  • I have a CBA card that came with a 3 month Prime promotion.

Redeemed points for a $50 Amazon card. Went to sign up once card arrived.

The promo didn't work. Amazon nor CBA could give 2 stuffs. After being passed around for an hour on phone to Amazon, they "decided" they will give me 1 month prime as goodwill. Over it, took it.

I bought two items. One of them now 5 weeks ago and not arrived yet. Still have $16 credit left (couldn't find anything reasonably priced to buy).

Was going to buy some coffee, which says free shipping. But on checking out, says $7 shipping and Prime has expired.

But then offered a one month free prime trial. Clicked on that… Then says I'm not eligible as I already have used a trial.

    In summary, get stuffed Amazon…

  • Wot. I signed up again 6 hours ago after letting it lapse. Fuming :/

    • i signed up just yesterday, a free trial that I've been holding onto for a long time. :(

    • I think you'll get the email, mine came 2 days after.

      • I just read this, looks like I didn't read your post properly. So you got your $10 promo email 2 days after you signed up to the free trial?

Maybe I still have a chance at that $10 on top of the $5 song promo credit.. problem is I won't get the most out of my 1 month of free Prime. So I should just blow through the month of Prime for a potential $15 discount? I think that sounds like a good deal to me.

  • Only got the option of $5 if I play an Amazon Music song or a $10 echo, where's this? Got no email either.

    • I only saw the $5 promo for listening to a song. I now regret doing it 5 hours ago, still haven't gotten the credit and didn't get the email either.
I might have gotten the email if I didn't listen to a song.

      • didn't get the email either

you will get the email within 3-4 days

        • Are you talking about the $5 promo credit confirmation email?

When I mentioned email in the comment above, I am talking about the $10 promo credit email that OP said they already got in this deal.

  • I only see a $10 echo dot . My trial ended like 5 days ago

  • I purchased something on Amazon a while ago and got free one month prime trial and echo dot 3 for just $10 but not $10 credit.

    • Yeah that's how they work, if you claim credit they don't target you for the next few. Not just Amazon but all sorts.

Ok I think I stuffed this up bad.

I thought the steps were: Start free trial, spend $39+ and wait 2 to 3 days for $10 credit email.
So I started my free trial and purchased something over $39. 3 days later no email.

I think what I was supposed to do was. Start free trial, don't buy anything and wait 3 days for $10 promo email. Then spend $39+ to get $10 credit.

A message for future poster's it might help to explain the steps to get the deal.

  • I got this. This is how I was offered it. I started without prime. I added a couple of things to my cart and as I was checking out for something, I got an offer to get a 30 day prime trial and selected it. It essentially added the prime trial to my cart and I was able to get prime membership added to my cart as a line item. I checked out and my items arrived the next day no worries. At some point in the 24 hrs after I signed up for the prime trial I got the $10 echo dot promo email. I have no use for an echo dot so didn’t act on it. I then needed to buy something else with prime and checked out like normal. It was over $39 but not sure if that had anything to do with it. After I completed this second order, I got another email letting me know I have been given $10 of promo credit for making my ‘first prime eligible purchase’. I think my initial purchase when I added the prime trial was essentially order 0. I have just today used this promo credit on another purchase, again over $39. Went through great, happy days.

    • Weird. While I didn't checkout with "Prime added to cart" I did have the option when previously going to the checkout stage. In other words all the circumstances you had are identical to mine (Free Trial offer at checkout, $10 echo dot promo email after first purchase), except the process I did it was different. Even though I had the "Prime Free Trial" option at checkout, before making my purchase I manually signed up to Prime BEFORE adding my $39+ item to cart and going to the checkout. Don't ask me why I just knew I had another Free Trial so I did it this way for some reason.

Wait a minute. Haha I think I am at the stage now, where you made your second purchase. So I might still be in luck. I will make a $39 purchase now and see if I get the $10 promo credit after the second order. I didn't act on the $10 echo dot email either.

Thanks for sharing your successful steps it surely does give me a better idea of how it all works.

      • Ok update. Looks like I didn't qualify. It's been 4 days since my $39+ purchase and there is no $10 promo email in sight.
I even made sure it was a "Prime eligible item" I think those are the items that show "one day" next to them.

Good thing the item I bought was a regular purchase (box of soft drinks) that doesn't really matter when I get it and the price doesn't really change much.
Also I got the $10 echo dot email, which I deleted. But they yanked that promo from me because when I logged in I couldn't see it anywhere. I wasn't interested to get one anyway.

I think they do keep track of what you have claimed and how many free trials you have gotten. Because I do remember at least 2 occasions when I started my free trial (just a single account by the way) and got an unexpected $10 credit after purchasing something. So I have claimed it in the past, just not this time.
