Generic chemicals is always better IMO HAHA

  • Does nurofen zavance and the other fast working pain relief actually work faster or is it just marketing? If it has the same amount of active ingredients is it just the coating that dissolves quicker for fast absorbing?

    • +3

      https://www.choice.com.au/health-and-body/medicines-and-supp…

"Most of the hype about 'faster-acting' paracetamol or ibuprofen is just that – hype,"

      • +1

I'm confused. Is Ibuprofen Lysine and Ibuprofen the same thing? They say Ibuprofen Lysine absorbs quicker. Or it a marketing gimmick?

        • +1

They have the same active ingredient (ibuprofen) but the lysine salt can be absorbed quicker under some conditions.

Without food, ibuprofen reaches peak concentration in roughly ~50 minutes compared to 30 minutes for ibuprofen lysine. This is reversed with food, roughly an hour for ibuprofen and a 1.5 hours for ibuprofen lysine.

    Flintstone’s chewable morphine?

    • +5

I miss the good old days when you could get codeine OTC

      • +2

        And Pseudoephedrine. Phenylephrine is useless.

  • +3

    Flintstone’s chewable morphine?

    I'll miss Sheriff Lobo!

  • +16

ps. PE cold flu does nothing… get the real stuff.. pseudo ephedrine

    • Yep - telehealth is your friend.

    • This

    • +1

There are multiple studies that question the efficacy of phenylephrine when compared to a placebo. The science is pretty patchy about whether it works and it certainly doesn't touch the efficacy of psuedoephedrine

Of course it isn't a precursor to methamphetamines either, so unfortunately psuedoephedrine is restricted

      • +2

It certainly doesn't have all the other systematic effects that make pseudoephedrine preferable either.

I'm just glad that restricting it has impacted methamphetamine availability which has checks notes continued to become cheaper and more available.

        • +1

Meth was, until Project STOP was implemented, domestically produced for the most part, usually in garages and sheds. The consequence of STOP has been that meth labs are far less common now, but meth is now cheaper and more broadly available due to the commercial scale importations from Myanmar / China and now Mexico.

      • +4

Are you suggesting that everyone who uses cold and flu medication with pseudoephedrine in it will become addicted to opioids and go through withdrawal symptoms?

        • -5

if they use it as per directions of their doctor- NO. There are many people who take prescribed drugs as bad as fentanyl but in accordance with their doctors, and good proportion of them don't become addicted (at least not ones with a good ethical doctor).

That being said ephedrine itself is an illicit drug too (because body reacts in a very same way to it as body would to ice). But at lower concentrations (as a ethical doctor would prescribe) should not cause such addiction.

But if start to tinker with chemicals and chemistry like crushing powder and doing backyard scientist stuff. It really doesn't take long for them to start doing illegal stuff.

          • @USER DC: Ephedrine and coca are regularly used in teas in different countries with limited I'll effects.

Like most things, drug misuse is much more complicated than just using it (which you can see by opioid deaths still skyrocketing in the US despite much more restrictive prescribing).

      • +5

        I can vouch for this.

It was only last week I had a pretty bad cold and so went to the local pharmacy and after a quick licence check, was on my way with a packed of cold and flu day and night, which seem to be laced with psuedoephedrine.

Cut forward to now, I assume my cold is gone but I can't be certain as I can't feel my face as I have been looking for increasingly stronger fixes to fill that void. I now shoot crack in between my toes and I'm worried my life is a few days off breaking bad season 6.

      • Nonsense; psuedoephedrine restrictions have done nothing for the use of methphetamine in Australia

Besides, people will always find substances to abuse, be that for escapism or fun, restrictions do nothing other than make it more difficult for other people to use legitimate medicines, hide abuse problems, and create black markets with all the criminal aspects that go along with it

Prohibition and restrictions just don't work, and the gateway drug fallacy is nonsense; look at how much alcohol is abused

  • +2

Hi Jason. Any way we can get products with pseudoephedrine? The PE one doesn't work for me.

    • +4

You're not alone; there are multiple studies that question the efficacy of phenylephrine when compared to placebo, so you aren't alone. The science is pretty patchy about whether it works and it certainly doesn't touch the efficacy of psuedoephedrine

Of course it isn't a precursor to methamphetamines either, so unfortunately psuedoephedrine is restricted

      • +9

Because studies have proved that orally administered phenylephrine is ineffective as a decogestant?

While pseudoephedrine is effective as a decogestant due to its nature as a vasoconstrictor.

Did you know that salt is made of sodium and chloride which are both dangerous chemicals and can be weaponised?

I don't have any issue with pharmacies responsibly taking records of purchasers to ensure they aren't being bought by pseudo runners, but that doesn't mean that the average person who uses a medicine according to the directions on the packet and gets significant relief from said medicine shouldn't be allowed to access it.

      • +3

I understand your take. But pseudoephedrine is much more effective for many.

If sales are regulated there shouldn't be an issue here - 1 pack used only when someone needs a decongestant, for me personally it will last 2-3 months.

      • Hurr durr don't take prescribed medicine because you may end up riding the glass Harley.

You could eat a whole packet of PSE medicine and the effect is nothing at all like consuming methylamphetamine. Please, take off the tinfoil hat.

    • pseudoephedrine

They need to record your ID before they can dispense it, and even if you have a prescription from your GP.

  • +2

Are you ever going to do a deal/bundle for eye drops? The bigger quantity , the better.

    • Yes, bulk Clear-Eyes?

      I'm in..

  • Hey OP, love your deals but we'd also appreciate it if you could focus on dispatching the existing orders too. You'll be chasing your tail soon otherwise. Thanks

    • +1

All orders are out, nothing outstanding other than orders with bad addresses (waiting on clients to confirm correct address details) - please check for a dispatch confirmation email from us, if you dont have one please shoot me a PM

  • Psuedo or nothing

    • +12

As a Psuedo user, you'd be aware you have to lob up at your local pharmacy, give them your drivers license or other ID, be logged into the government database, answer 3-4 questions etc before it can be supplied - unfortunately for us (and you) its not possible to sell it online, thank Jesse Pinkman for that.

      • Damn you Cap'n Cook!

      • This replacement is worthless though, if you want to avoid the above hustle you might as well just cut to the chase and take 500mg paracetamol alone.

    • -1

      agreed.

    • +9

Sorry but I was directed by my surgeon to take paracetamol as needed for pain management following my wisdom tooth removal surgery and I don't quite understand how exercising, eating well and not being fat would help in that situation? Could you elaborate?

      • -7

And who do you think takes those doctors on free trips to ‘conferences’ to get them to prescribe those poisons.

        • +3

Honestly, what has that got to do with pain after a tooth being pulled… you can’t just voodoo away the fact that you underwent a surgical extraction. Drugs help with pain.

          • -2

@haemolysis: So does cannabis, but that’s illegal, guess why.

            • @Awoke: Dunno if I'd be keen to rip a bong after having a tooth removed and a clot exposed lol

              • -1

@Surtr: Thats a typical big pharma response to make it look like taking cannabis for pain is linked to drug use. There are many different ways to take a dose.

            • @Awoke: Can't be punished for your average medicinal usage in the ACT
              https://adf.org.au/insights/cannabis-act/

        • Yeah the doctors go free trips to conferences so that they can ask me to spend $1 on a packet of paracetamol so that Woolworths can make 70 cents.

          • @Shwayne: Exactly. Its all part of the system

    • +1

What do any of those have to do with reducing histamine responses to allergies?

  • I’ve been taking this medicine for over week for cold doesn’t work for me, worked for my older brother though..

    • You need a medicine that contains Pseudoephedrine, but I think you have to ask a pharmacist as its a controlled substance so isn't available over the counter (though it used to be).

    • +1

If you don't have access to pseudo (requires pharmacy visit), give 1 paracetamol and one ibuprofen tablet a shot instead.

  • All orders packed and will dispatch today - I have relisted the few I have left in stock!
